I'm good to go too, but I've never played Call of Cthulhu before, so if 5 is better than 4, I wouldn't mind waiting a bit for the 5th player. However, not too long because I am excited to play :-)

I am perhaps going to need a little help with the character sheet. I know there’s a YouTube tutorial but haven’t had time to view it they. (This weeekend was busy plus my tabletop campaign group met last night....)

The best thing is to watch the video lunitar linked a while back. It will take you through step by step. If you're gonna take the time to make a character, take the time to watch the video. It's 100% faster than reading through the book and doing it.

Yes, we were just working out a few more things. Look for the intro and game play to start in the morning as I add a few finishing touches to it.

Hey guys! Sorry I've been so sketchy lately. I've been in the process of moving a big campaign game from one site to here and in the meantime, two games in which I was playing suddenly sparked back to life.

February has been killing me work and responsibility wise, but I am genuine about wanting to play this game. If I could come up with a good character hook for my petty crook character, that would really make things much easier for me. I felt like we had lots of professor types and a night janitor with some nefarious underdealings might find a way to bully his way into this story.

Any suggestions?

I'm son of a criminal. You might be a pal, or someone my dad sends along to keep an eye on me? Or, you were in my dad's poker game as I was leaving and heard something that sounded interesting, so you decided to tag along.

I guess I need a more immediate hook too. i.e. How do I get my butt into the Hudson? Do I follow in my own vehicle, a stolen delivery truck?

You could be a Roanoke local and fall in with us when we get there, perhaps we cross paths and Shark_Bone recognises you, if you want to take his suggestion.

Honestly, you don't need a fantastic hook. Anything will do that gets you over with us. We can totally wave away the "You seem trustworthy! Join us!" bit if we need to. Your character is a PC and so has more rights in the story than an NPC.

We can just write it in, you were with the group, just silent? You are maybe someone the university uses, "unofficially" to handle things from time to time?

Yes, I think that's about what I thinking too. Maybe as custodial staff I "saw" something once and I use it for leverage and get myself involved in anything that could be an opportunity for gain.

Hey all! I've been pretty busy with school and the Odd Fellows. I thought I would be able to keep up with the game, but apparently not. If it's ok with lunitar, I'll be back after finals, around June 12th.

Hello. I am here. Since people haven't shared their characters, can anybody give me a rundown of the current cast with summaries/descriptions/archetypes/what-have-you?

From what I think understand there's some shifty, scrappy driver, a previous farmer who knows a bit more about the occult than most, some criminal type, and a professor? Is that right?

That sounds about right. My character (Barry Brennan) is in the library if you want to take a closer look.

I did take a look at him, thanks for sharing. Very interesting distribution of high and low stats. My rolls, comparatively, were fairly average.

Ladies and gentlemen, sometimes real life has a different plan for us. When I jumped on board with this game I had some room in my life for extra escapism; that means even beyond the two PbP games I run, MtG, and the tabletop club I run here in my hometown. However, very quickly and unexpectedly, I changed careers, moving from a teacher mentor job to a school counselling career. To add to all this, the local university has hired me on as a part-time lecturer. I will be teaching BEd students the skills and knowledge of teaching elementary mathematics. These are things I am passionate about and I really want to do.

Alas, I am having to drop the games in which I was a player in order to (maybe) hang onto the games I run. However, even there, I think you can see that there is a risk of having to drop even more of my wonderful escapism.

I am truly sorry to leave this game. I having a blast playing the angry and dubious Big Dutch, the smallish, angry Swede with a Joe Pesci personality. Perhaps I'll have a chance to explore the character idea further in a different version of reality.

Hey all, looking to get a character up today. Any restrictions? Or is all 7E handbook in play? Am thinking of playing a psychologist of some sort.

What occupations have already been done? I'm midway through making a character but this site has been very very slow recently.

Phew, couldn't get on for the past 3-4 days. Just let me know on character creation, and I'll pull one together.

Site has been really slow. My guy is just a small town cop tryin' to do right by his rightfully creeped out community.

No restrictions. I have had issues logging on myself. We have a getaway driver, farmer, and a police officer.

GM told me when I should come into the scene.

Connections should probably be established before i go any farther. My investigator is a 55 year old doctor who fought through the Great War and has been a resident of Arkham, near to the University, for about 2 decades and knows many of the senior professors. Just by time alone, he would most certainly know of the Colletti family and might even know Marv's father. He could even have known him before he attained mobster status, if he gained power, like several other gangsters, during the federal prohibition on alchohol (Which only ended 2 years ago). He works at the chief hospital in Arkham.

Barry, Marv, and certainly Ari likely haven't made his proper acquaintance but Von Kluck would probably have met him before as they work in similar circles.

That makes sense to me.

lunitar, what does my character know about the dig, if anything? I was thinking I was here as an adjunct teaching psychology for the university and am currently unaware of the prior events the others are chasing down. The others seem to think otherwise. Can you clarify my knowledge at this point?

You can play it how you want, perhaps you were brought in to help at the dig site, but were barred from entering by the feds, so no real knowledge, just that their mental states were in question?

They could be a second group sent to join us. Or a group to investigate the same thing from somewhere else.

Hello! Glad to be here.

So, where do we stand on the story? Anybody willing to give a recap?

What I remember immediately:

We got called in by a professor and asked to go to the dig site and figure out what's going on. We arrive to find it abandoned. One of our number goes missing. We investigate the camp and fine some weird eel things living in the deep puddles. Not finding much we decide to go into town and ask around. We meet a local cop. The town didn't have much to do with the dig. We rest and go back to the dig site. We find a journal that suggests the scientist here was losing his mind. He mumbled about following the river so we did too. We find a waterfall that has a space behind it. I went through and saw our missing investigator. I went it to talk to the others and we got to this point.

Ok...so a lot of weird stuff then. What kind of cast are we looking at? Just Marv the driver? Any character entry points a new character could use to get into the story?

You could just show up, fine Marv and say, "Hey, I was sent to join you, what's up?" Unless you're going to be tied to the investigation in a different way.

I think we are going with the back up sent in to help as most of the original crew disappeared or left.

Ok...Im going to generate some stats and work on this character tonight.

Hey, I think I'm going to back out for now; I'm running a second game, which is taking up a substantial portion of my gaming time, and given that I entered midway into the campaign, it's a bit difficult for me to follow what's going on. Sorry, but thanks for the opportunity.

Let me see if I can get a couple more, or we will just roll with what we have.

I think we have lost Marv. I think I'll end this round of the game. I might take a few weeks off and reboot the game from the beginning. Feel free to stay in game and wait if you'd like, but if not that's fine too.
