1st Session Exercise - Remnant

Mar 23, 2018 1:33 pm
Okay so I have a general idea where I'll go and what everyone is playing. So here's my pitch for a game.

The Illawarra Forest Expedition: A star was seen falling from the sky late last fall and people though nothing of it since it fell in the Illawarra Forest. That winter caused growing concerns, people don't venture into this forest due to the odd mist that seems to cling to the large expanse of forest and explorers aren't heard from again that have ventured in. The area didn't have snow fall, rumors are the clouds 'stopped' outside the forest not getting past the mist. At the end of winter the mist cleared for the first time people have remembered and several odd and new creatures moved out of the area of the forest some invaded new habitats some rampaged and were killed. The four of you have been hired on as part of the Expedition to trek into the Unknown Lands and find the cause for the odd happenings that are escaping.
OOC:
Homework for everyone: Why did you come on the expedition?

@Phil_Ozzy_Fer
What is an odd rumor about something that came out of the Illawarra Forrest?

@Jabes.plays.RPG
What was an dangerous obstacle or encounter that happened on the trek to the borderlands of the Forest?

@Moofsalot
How did the party play a pivotal role in resolving this increasing their reputation?

@CaveJohnson
What was an odd occurrence that happened when you finally arrived at the borderlands that served as an omen of sorts?

Many rumors swirled about the mist, but they were so plentiful, and at times so outlandish that telling fact from fiction was virtually impossible. However, every once in a while, it was said that forest spirits that had previously dwelt in the forests were being forced to flee. Many people had spoken about small troops of fauns, dryads, and brownies forlornly departing from their woodland home. Druids close to these creatures have apparently been told of foul creatures that have polluted the woodland the deepest of roots to the peaks of the highest treetops, and even the air itself. The contaminated monstrosities are said to have been incubated in the mists and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. One faun even gave a description of something that resembled a crocodile, but one that stood as tall as a horse with pink bloated flesh, a short whip-like tail, and a snout that tapered off like a beak. The faun left saying the horrors were incrementally making their way out of the forest.

If you want you can it'll probably make more sense though if you wait unless you do something generic or independent of the obstacle. I've already pulled in off the first input something for session 1.

The Drangord River crossing at Eliany Ford nearly saw the end of the entire expedition when the water level rose unexpectedly just when the adventurers were mid-stream. The river's water suddenly ran thick, black, and odorous, and among the four of us all but Augustin's mount were lost. The freak occurrence was seen as a poor omen, as the river's source lies in the forest.

So the expedition which is more then the four of you cross a large river and things get weird when the four of you are midway across. How did the team play a pivotal role in saving the expedition (mostly) from the natural or unnatural disaster?

My cougar Beast was nervous about the water, so I coaxed her to cross first before I readied everyone else. This perhaps both doomed and saved us, as the river waters rose unexpectedly fast. I was able to loop a rope around my companion as she pulled most of us out of the river.

Cool
With tales of the oddities coming out of the Forest and the caravan of the expedition forces almost being drowned but saved due to the parties (and Xadra's quick thinking) they've almost to the destination. Before getting to the end of the journey what omen sign do we see CaveJohnson?
OOC:
After this I'll do a roll up in my notes for the first post. I'll start up things after that. Since I have most of the inputs I think I have a good idea of how to approach and what scene I'll set... *GM Smile and Laughter*

As the party nears the forest borderlands they passed through a town/village/encampment all the still standing buildings were nailed/boarded up as a slow creeping fog starts to envelope the settlement. It starts out only surrounding a few buildings and then the whole area. Just as quickly as it came, it disappears. As we the party crest a hill we see a settlement down the road.
OOC:
hows that?
