How do I post as my character? I'm new to this site and I'm not sure if I'm missing the instructions somewhere.
Apr 10, 2018 6:21 pm
@MoonBeam when you click on the 'games' tab and click on "Arinas Mega Game" you will come to a screen where you can submit a character for review if you have already made a character. Check the bottom right area there should be something you can click on to submit a character
Apr 10, 2018 6:28 pm
I've submitted a character, I just don't see how to make a post as that character. Do I do it from my character sheet somehow?

I've got a question for Remus and MushroomMage... I see that Tinwë, Pyrrha, and Fah'lin are all nobles and each have a Mantle of Spell Resistance! Could we maybe have gotten them as family heirlooms passed down from royalty?

By the way, Arina, perhaps we should have an OOC for our lvl 15 game, now that it's started?
Apr 10, 2018 8:22 pm
@Moonbeam - when you are doing a quick reply there is a drop down just above the toolbar "Post As: --------" if you hit the drop down you will have an option to post as your character instead of 'player'

Oh, perfect! Thanks!

@Araklusta: I like how you think! Unfortunately, I already had in mind where all of Pyrrha's magic items came from. Sorry!

Also, just as a note for the level 15 game in general, I had intended that Pyrrha hadn't really properly been adventuring before. I know I didn't really go into enough detail in her backstory, but what I was trying to get across was that she came back from her time with the druids dramatically changed mentally and emotionally, such that her father sequestered her away from the court. It makes sense that she would be known as a magic user, given how rumors spread, but viewed more with suspicion than reverence in the public eye. She was and is rarely seen, and spends all her time studying and practicing magic. She would probably have met with her relatives, but only during their visits to the king's residence, as she would not have attended any events or such. She would probably have taken a liking to them, given that she would rarely have been able to talk to anyone like her. However, she probably came off as (and comes off as) somewhat odd. Her father hadn't permitted her to go on this adventure, but rather to attend the council as an advisor, given that a desert appearing out of nowhere is kind of an area of expertise for druids.

(BTW, Arina if any part of this doesn't jive with what you had in mind for the adventure, that's a-OK. This is just how I had envisioned the character. If you want me to overhaul this, I'll do it.)

Remus, I think I get what you're going for. You can still make it fit with what Arina's asked for if you compromise a little bit. Maybe Pyrrha already had a lengthy discussion with the king and succeeded in persuading him to let her help - but he's not happy about it.

As for her relationship with the rest of the party, she can certainly seem odd to them. Tinwë is drawing on memories she has of when they were both much younger girls. They've both changed a lot since then, but still she's happy to see Pyrrha - one of the only living relatives she might have once been close to. Pyrrha does not have to reciprocate that, however, and not doing so would certainly strike Tinwë as odd and make her question what might have happened in the years they've been apart. Which is what you want, right?

Our Cloaks don't have to have come from the same place, but you probably should do what Arina asked and include another player character in how you came about your magic items.

Just my 2 cents. But once you make your post I'll tweak mine to not step on your toes.

I have to say that I'm always pleasantly surprised at how much effort and development everyone puts into their character. And the interactions already at the start of the game!! I'm definitely looking forward to this one!

I've sent a PM to Remus but basically my take on it is this.

My number 1 rule of roleplaying is that the player has 100% control over their character. You control the character, I control the world. I'll never tell you what you have to do but I will make suggestions from time to time or ask you to clarify and develop your character so that it makes sense.

In this case, as level 15 characters you are all the most powerful people in the kingdom! I think that to have gained such power requires real world experience. I don't think you could become a level 15 druid by being locked away in a room but if you can come up with a good story as to how that's possible then go for it! Otherwise we can modify it a little and say that this isn't the first time you have been on an adventure.Either way, so long as you justify how you gained your power then I will support you 100%.

I just want to apologise for holding up the level 15 game, and for being contrary and generally awkward. Thank you to you guys for putting up with me, especially to Arina for helping me work stuff out to fit into the game.
Apr 11, 2018 10:24 pm
No apology necessary! I think that we're all having a good time :)
Apr 11, 2018 10:54 pm
Remus, I don't think it's been awkward or contrary at all! I enjoy reading what you write. This game is going to be a blast.
Apr 11, 2018 11:03 pm
No worries, @Remus! I think we're all good.
Apr 11, 2018 11:41 pm
Thanks guys ;)

As an aside I've been looking at your item lists and we have some pretty paranoid players lol. So far we have at least 2 players with the alert feat and another two with waepons or warning. Guess no ambush TPKs for me QQ
Apr 12, 2018 6:54 am
LOL! I just figured a master spy didn't get to level 15 without some special gifts. ;)
Apr 12, 2018 11:55 am
Oh, I forgot about that feature for the weapon of warning. Haha, I just wanted the advantage on initiative! Tinwë is supposed to be pretty quick.

Ive built a lvl 15 sword college bard/Hexblade warlock over the last couple of days, but I'm confused on how spell slots work with multi classing. Do I have 2 separate slot lists? Or are my spell slots shared? If I'm a lvl 6 warlock my warlock spell slots are 3rd lvl. As a lvl 9 bard I have bard spell slots: 4, 3, 3, 3, 1 from 1st to 5th lvl. If I want to cast a warlock spell, 3rd lvl, does that consume one of my 3rd lvl bard spell slots? If so, then should I not take any 3rd lvl bard spells and save those 3rd lvl spell slots for my warlocks use? (Or take a 3rd lvl bard spell but only cast it at 4th lvl or higher?) Because I can only cast my warlock spells at the listed lvl, correct? In the PHB, I didn't see anywhere if it says with warlock when figuring out how many slots you have if you're multi classing with more than 1 spell caster.
May 3, 2018 1:07 pm
To answer your question, you have to keep your warlock spell slots separate from your other spell slots. Use warlock spells with warlock spell slots and bard spells with bard spell slots. Or mix them together!
May 3, 2018 1:10 pm
It's easy, breezy, beautiful, covergirl for caster/warlock multiclasses. Warlocks don't get spellcasting, they get pact magic; so completely separate from your bard. The easiest way to think about it is: you aren't a level 15 Bard/Warlock; you are a level 9 bard and a level 6 warlock. The only difference is you can use your bard slots to cast your warlock spells and vice versa. Example: you're out of bard spell slots and one of us goes down! You have warlock spell slots but no warlock healing spells! No problem, cast healing word at 3rd level with one of your two warlock slots. Kuz is back in the fight with 3d4+whatever!

Effective? Probably not.

Doable? Oh, you betcha.
May 3, 2018 2:20 pm
Ok cool. I figured they were separate but that makes more sense now. I kinda want to do a test run with it to see how good/bad it is! :P
