Outcast. You have travelled far from your homeland. You know what it is that drove you from your homeland. You seek to find your place in the world. Your seach has been long and unsuccessful this far. Your wanderings have taken you to the northernmost parts of the Immerald Empire, a secret establishment of the Western Trading Company. There you met the proprietor, a man named Sigmar. He's weak. Cultured. Civilized. Still, he made you an offer of employment and after so many long months of solitude you accepted his offer. He introduced you to Melina, his chief ranger. She is strong. You could tell from the moment you first saw her. Her body. Her movements scream grace earned from years of hard training and discipline. She offered to teach you her trade. You accepted immediately. This is the luckiest thing to have happened to you since you left your homeland. She threw you a bag, a few provisons and some arrows. Go into the wilderness. Talk to the land. Learn its secrets. Find a great beast, track it and bring me back it's pelt. If you survive, you can join my team. You eagerly accepted her challenge. You will prove your worth or die trying.

You head out into the wilderness.
OOC:
Please make a survival check.

i will not disappoint her

Rolls

Survival Check - (1d20+4)

(20) + 4 = 24

Wow a crit to start. Nice job! Well done, the basic convention on gamer's plane is to mark all of your spoken text in bold and mark your thoughts in italics.

Now let's try posting in character. When you make your next post, near the top of the screen you should see a "post as ______" bar. The default mode is to "post as player" but you can change it to "post as (insert character name here). If you have uploaded an image for your character it will also be displayed. Give it a shot.
You head east of Berda trading post and walk up the coast taking note of the distant mountains to the north you keep a very accurate track of your bearings. It's not long before you come across a set of humanoid footprints in the sand.

What do you do?
May 4, 2018 7:08 am
I wonder if these footprints could lead me to a beast, hmm...I'll follow them and see where they lead.
OOC:
I haven't found a good image for my character yet, I'm also still getting the hang of being in character since my other GMs didn't stress it too much so please bear with me.
May 5, 2018 11:32 am
OOC:
No problem on both counts :)
You follow the prints into the wilderness for a short time. After about twenty minutes of so you see another set of prints right beside the humanoid's.
OOC:
Do you stop to examine the prints or do you continue to track the humanoid?
May 5, 2018 5:47 pm
it seems I’m not the only tracker in the wild as a giant grin spreads across Sovelin’s face. Lets find out what else is out here.
OOC:
could you write down what roll I would need to do if I choose an option that requires a roll? it might make things progress faster.

OOC:
Totally could have done that but you'll find that most players include their rolls with their posts and I highly encourage you to do that too. If you include a roll with your post then in the worst case scenario I'll just ignore it but it always helps to include a roll just to keep things moving. E.g. Arina threatens the poor goblin (rolls intimidation). Of course, different DMs use different methods for determining outcomes and call for different rolls but even if that's the case, the DM can easily check your character sheet and add the appropriate skill/modifier. More specifically to our game. You can roll whatever you like. Different skills will give you different information. Survival might help to determine the direction of the tracks and where the creature might be heading, nature might determine what kind of creature it is, arcana would help if it's a magical creature etc. It's up to you. You do not need to make a roll to continue to follow the tracks. Your natural 20 from before is still in play :)

OOC:
Cool I’ll do that in the future.
ill just follow these humanoid tracks for now, the sooner I find someone the sooner I can get some information.

You rush forwards and hear a growl coming from a small clearing ahead of you. You look and see a massive wolf about to leap on what appears to be a human. The human weilds nothing but a wooden staff and a shield that appears to have been rigged together from bits of a barrel.

What do you do?
May 7, 2018 1:58 pm
Sovelin continues rushing forward while casting speak with animals in an attempt to speak to the wolf.why are you attacking this human?

Rolls

Trying to convince the wolf to stop - (1d20+4)

(5) + 4 = 9

OOC:
You cast the spell. I write my spell slots in the notes section of my character sheet.
Level 1 spell slots: 2

And then reduce the number as I cast spells.
May 8, 2018 1:24 am
You feel the magic take effect. The wolf seems surprised but it pounces at the human anyway. It doesn't respond.
OOC:
You could either study the animals behaviour (nature check, try and convince it to stop attacking (handle animal) roll initiative and attack the creature or do whatever you like really. Just give me a roll and I will apply the correct skill if you're unsure.
May 8, 2018 4:26 am
Sovelin realizes the wolf seemed to ignore him so he decides to attack, but he speaks to the wolf one last time. Fine have it your way.

Rolls

Initiative - (1d20+2)

(11) + 2 = 13

Ok. So the way I run combat is a little different. Very few DMs on GP run combat the same way you would IRL because it is painfully slow. 1 day to roll initiative. 1 day for the DM to make an initiative order and then everyone has to wait possibly for days before it's their turn to act. It's just a nightmare. To solve this problem I simply have everyone roll initiative and take their first combat turn in the same post. Then I'll write up everyone's actions into a post, summarise the situation and then, if any threats remain we move on to round two. Every combat round lasts 24 hours, so that's your time limit for making your post. You only need to roll initiative with your first post. Did I explain that clearly? Do you have any questions? If not, go ahead and take your first combat turn. (Make a new post. Don't edit your last post or I won't get a notification via email!).

Sovelin draws his longbow and shoots at the wolf.
OOC:
i wasn’t sure if I was in range to be at a disadvantage for ranged attacks. Lol I don’t think it matters :/
