Eberron Setup Discussion

Here we can discuss the details of game.

First thought I have is: What level do you want to start at? Any character ideas you are thinking about?

Unless you have strong feelings against it I'd like to start at 1. And, I think it would be fun to play someone from House Sivis, maybe someone who's got a job that takes them to different parts.

No problem at all with first level. I too love House Sivis. In the core Eberron book it mentions they work as translators, mediators, scribes and messengers.

At low levels, a messenger makes for good job in this setting. I have an idea for an initial adventure aboard a lightning rail.

I'm in! I love the lightning rail. I'll work on my character over the weekend.

So for myself...I have always like the kingdom of Karrnath, the Blood of Vol and Emerald Claw. Specifically, I'd like to explore the relationship with the undead that the country has.

The character concept I was leaning toward is playing a Dread Necromancer (a class found in Heroes of Horror book) that is dedicated to serving their country. They studied magic/necromancy intending on becoming a career military officer and taking command of one of the undead forces to protect their home. They are members of the cult of the Blood of Vol, for the 'honor' and 'glory' of the traditions of serving in life and death.

Then they find out that the king doesn't want to the Blood of Vol, and the Emerald Claw around anymore...so my character is sent to hunt cultists maybe?

Wow, Karrnath is one of my favorite places anf Heroes of Horror is my favorite 3.5 supplement. Yeah, I think I can do that.

Should I make a new game for that or just run it in another thread, here?

Do you have a preferred PC creation method? I'm open to all methods, but I like rolling best. I'm good with 4d6 drop lowest, fall back to point buy if need be.

Agreed. The randomness of rolling is fun. What sources are you planning on using? I have all of 3.5 Eberron but not too many 3.5 sourcebooks.

I have a few, but not all Eberron source books. I was pretty much going to limit myself to those. It's a rich environment to work with and as plenty of hooks I think. Specifically, I have the main Eberron book, Player's Guide to Eberron, Dragonmarked, Eberron Explorers Guide, & Races of Eberron. I think I have the City of Sharn book as a pdf on a different computer but I haven't taken the time to look yet. As my story unfolds you will have hooks that could take you to Sarlona so the Expanded Psionics might come into play for me (and I have that).

Can't think of anything else I might use at the moment. Is there any other sources you were thinking about?

No, those are good for me! I just didn't know if you wanted to use something specific for your character. I think I might be a bard, but im going to look in some of my other books to see if there's something else that might fit.

Just touching base to see when you might have your character done and want to start. I'm easy, so please don't feel pressured.

As for your story, I am ready to post tomorrow, but tonight I am beat. Can you add a character, even a custom sheet with a link on it?

Just out of curiosity, what spells did you take? and what power from the Dragon mark?

I've got the Least Dragonmark (Scribing) which gives me Arcane Mark & Comprehend Languages.

I haven't chosen spells yet, but I'll do that, now.

Chose: Lullaby, Message, Read Magic, Summon Instrument.
