@ Carlin: You drop a portion of the black goop into each vial, mix, and wait a moment. After a minute, Arius pulls the demonic vial up to his face to look closely, then shakes his head Ah, this was my first guess as well... but it looks like neither of these is correct. We'll need new samples now...
You hear shouting outside. There's two guards running away from a mob. The mob is running with unnatural, jerky movements. They still look like they're catching up, because the guards seem winded, due in large part to their armor. The shouts sound... less than human, more like unearthly screaming.
Perhaps those people are what we need?
