Cauldron's Government:
Cauldron is ruled by a Lord Mayor, who is chosen by the previous Lord Mayor and serves for life. The current Lord Mayor is Severen Navalant. He's well liked by the citizens of Cauldron, but some worry that he lacks the spine to be a true leader.
Cauldron has a standing guard, the Captain of which is Terseon Skellerang.
Noble Families:
Aslaxin — The Aslaxins are one of two noble families who lead the town of Kingfisher Hollow (the other being the Tercivals). They own several plantations around Kingfisher Hollow, but the Aslaxins are primarily art dealers. They ship most of the non-obsidian artwork crafted by local craftsmen out of town, but the bulk of the family's fortune is tied up in art and furniture imports.
Knowlern — Lady Ophella Knowlern hails from Hollowsky. She owns most of the plantations around that city, as well as several profitable businesses in the region. She has never married, and inherited her money from her parents. She owns a small brewery, the Drunken Morkoth Inn, and the Cusp of Sunrise, generally regarded as one of the finest restaurants in Cauldron.
Lathenmire — Not technically members of Cauldron's nobility, the Lathenmires are as close as one can possibly get without actually being aristocrats. They are Cauldron's most successful weapons traders and importers, and have practically monopolized the weapon trade in the region.
Navalant — The Navalants are one of Cauldron's oldest noble families. They have held the Lord Mayorship for more than 200 years.
Rhiavadi — Lady Rhiavadi inherited her wealth from her predecessors. The Rhiavadi fortune is so large that the family hasn't had to work for generations, though rumor holds that she has her hand in several illegal enterprises.
Taskerhill — The Taskerhills, Cauldron's wealthiest noble family, control the majority of the obsidian trade in the region. They own several mines, as well as a prominent workshop that exports exquisitely crafted obsidian furniture and art items to Sasserine for trade.
Tercival — The Tercival family owns several plantations around the town of Kingfisher Hollow, and shares leadership of that town with the Aslaxins. At this time, there is only one surviving member of the Tercival family, Alek, who is serving as a paladin for the Church of St. Cuthbert in Cauldron.
Vanderboren — The Vanderborens are Cauldron's newest noble family. They earned their fortune investing in Cauldron real estate, and thus are looked down upon by the other nobles as "new money".
Vhalantru — Vhalantru was inducted into the city's aristocracy 15 years ago, after donating huge sums of money to fund the restoration of the Town Hall and several other ancient structures that were starting to fall apart. No one knows much about his background.
