Nightal 27, 1491

Weather report: strong winds and freezing temps greet you as you wake.

The day is yours.
Sep 22, 2018 3:50 pm
I emerge from my meditation, while it was still night time, feeling refreshed and rested. At least, physicaly. My mind was still not fully recovered from the previous day's events. I wash up, dress up and sit on my bed. Next I pull the book from my backpack and begin reading it attentively.
OOC:
Book is a Urmon's Journal from Glasstaff's lab. Leylin skimmed through it before, but now he will spend as long as possible to read it throughly. He won't stop unless someone interrupts him.
Sep 22, 2018 10:13 pm
OOC:
Oh yea, ive set for a room before i went and talk to crazy guy.
Bebaral heads down to enjoy himself some breakfast.
Sep 23, 2018 1:21 pm
Gu’long walks downstairs and asks the innkeeper, I know that goblins tend to put you non-goblins ill at ease, but my friend and I desire to eat. Would you mind if we ate some breakfast here? Perhaps at that table over there?

He points to the table near the fireplace, since it is cold.

He was never used to the cold, being taken from normal clan life at an early age to serve Bargrivyek.
Sep 23, 2018 3:03 pm
Toblen Stonehill considers Gu’lorg’s request only briefly, After what you all have done for us then I don’t see why many people would have reason to be concerned. Enjoy your food and let me know if you need anything else.
Sep 23, 2018 11:34 pm
Gu’lorg warmly thanks the man, retrieves Droop’lorg, and they eat an assortment of breakfast meats and whatever else the place offers for morning meal.

Sep 24, 2018 7:30 am
You are almost through your breakfast when I rush downstairs as I finish to tie my leather jacket. I go straight to the innkeeper and ask for a loaf of bread, some cheese and fresh fruits to take away, putting 2 silvers and my waterskin on the counter. Then I look for Bebaral, knowing that we were supposed to meet here, go to him and propose that I introduce him to Gu'lorg and his new friend.
Sep 24, 2018 12:09 pm
Spark easily spots both Bebaral and Gu'lorg in the Inn's common area enjoying their breakfasts.
Sep 24, 2018 1:23 pm
Ah Yes, good morning. Bebaral stands and moves with sparks A bit late in the morning for you? I wasn't sure if you were going to wake.
Sep 25, 2018 7:22 am
— Yesterday has been rough, I had trouble finding sleep, and even more leaving it... I answer with a hoarse voice that matches my physical condition. I feel like gob... kobold shit. Anyway, here's one of those who were beside me when we fought yesterday: meet Gu'lorg of Bargrivyek. I say just as we arrive at Gu'lorg's table.
Sep 25, 2018 7:41 am
Spark, my friend! Good to see you up!

Gu’lorg stands up and takes his friend’s hand warmly.

You remember our new friend, Droop’lorg? He will be accompanying us along our path to improve this world.

Gu’lorg looks to the halfling man.

Greetings, my new friend! I am certain that the gods have put us on this path together!

I am Gu’lorg, booyagh of the great Bargrivyek, hobgoblin lord of honor and chivalry. This is my companion, Droop’lorg, my newest faithful friend.

What is your name?
Sep 25, 2018 2:39 pm
Greetings, I'm bebaral, Magic scholar, am i to assume Spark's, talked to you lot this past night?
Sep 25, 2018 2:42 pm
Gu’lorg’s ears wiggle and his head bobs up and down.

No, we have not spoken to Spark since we separated yesterday afternoon or so.

What is going on?
Sep 25, 2018 3:04 pm
Oh! I'm sorry. I'm looking for keen eyed accompaniments to help me explore some areas of magical interest. Bebaral Motions to the chair for the acknowledgement to sit down. May I?
Sep 25, 2018 3:45 pm
Gu'lorg gestures with his hand for the halfling to sit at the table. I, too, have interest in magics and magical items. They seem to be rare in this place. Droop'lorg and I will definitely follow you, assuming there will be a share in any loot and knowledge/information.

He turns to his goblin friend. Bargrivyek horthaan or keklaan't dhuul duun daagaan daan khraal duun huun. Taan?

Bebaral hops up onto the seat. Fantastic, I have word that theres something of interest over by Old Owl Well. That should prove to give us a good start hopefully. As for shared knowledge, I don't mind, I'm working with a professor from Neverwinter so it shouldn't be to big of a problem to share some knowledge.

He shifts a little to get more comfortable. Now my hopes is that your more perceptive then our friend, I'm afraid that there may be others seeking this knowledge for nefarious means.

Bebaral places some coins on the table. We've a bit of to work on, on the road. These are yours. he gestures to Gu'lorg Truly i mean no foul intent.
Sep 27, 2018 1:31 am
Upon quickly inspecting his coin pouch, Gu’lorg finds it is short the number of coins placed on the table.
Sep 27, 2018 1:36 am
Before he has an opportunity to respond to Bebaral, you all see the commanding presence of Sildar Halwinter entering the Inn. He looks around and quickly spots the group of you and makes his way over.

Gentlemen, good morning, I’m glad to have found you so easily.. He acknowledges everyone at the table, stopping momentarily on Droop as he scans the table. Addressing Gu’lorg, Long as he stays out of trouble... he holds his gaze on Gu’lorg long enough to get his point across before continuing.

Have you all seen Leylin? I have a potential lead on Gundren and wanted to speak to all of you.
Sep 27, 2018 2:27 am
Bebaral turns to address him with a bit of an impish smile. im sorry a who and who?
Sep 27, 2018 3:23 am
Gu’lorg sees the coins on the table and shrugs, not valuing that stuff so much. He collects the coins into his purse.

Gu’lorg responds to Sildar with a nod of acknowledgement.

He says, I haven’t checked on Ley today. We should convene at his room.

Gu’lorg approaches Tolbin: Can I Please have a plate of breakfast to take to my friend, Leylin? We have some things to discuss in private, but I want to make sure that he is well-fed. Gu’lorg hands him 2 gold pieces.
Sep 27, 2018 12:15 pm
Thats very generous sir, but far too much. The Innkeeper hands back 1 gp and 7sp. He goes to the back and returns with the requested meal.
Sep 27, 2018 1:12 pm
I take note that the price is a bit higher than what I left to prepare mine, and grab two additional silver in my own purse to give them as I retrieve my package.
— Good morning Sildar! We'll go check on Leylin and inform him that you may have a lead. Did you already have breakfast? If not, I'll be glad to offer it to you while we go upstairs.
Sep 27, 2018 1:23 pm
OOC:
Didn't want to look back for continuity on pricing ...lol...no worries
Sildar politely declines Spark's offer, No, thank you, I've already eaten. Yes if you could let him know so that we can discuss. These matters are urgent after all. Sildar answers Bebaral's questions, Leylin and I have a mutual friend that has been kidnapped. Leylin freed myself, and Gu'lorg from the same people who kidnapped our friend Gundren. I am hoping Leylin will continue the search and hopeful rescue as soon as we can locate him.
Sep 27, 2018 1:38 pm
OH!? well thats mildy upsetting. Would it be by the Old Owl Well by any chance? Bebaral retorts as he gets off his finally comfortable spot in the chair.
Sep 27, 2018 1:45 pm
We don't know, he was taken to a location referred to as "Cragmaw Castle" by goblins... he trails off a second and looks at Droop. Have you heard of Cragmaw Castle?

Droop looks uncomfortable with the mention of Cragmaw Castle, as a now former member of the Cragmaw clan, Droop is aware that people, humans especially, will be very suspicious of him. Droop been to Cragmaw Castle, but Droop not now where to find. Is in the woods. Maybe friends should capture Goblins out on road and ask them to take us to it?

Sildar doesn't seem completely convinced by the goblins answer but seems to move on, Well, I'm hoping my lead will provide us the location without having to get involved in any unnecessary altercations.

Oct 5, 2018 12:14 am
Leylin are you ok son? I was hoping to talk with you all about Gundren. I believe I have a found a lead that may help us find the location of Cragmaw Castle. Sildar looks concerned as he waits for Leylin to shake the cobwebs.
Oct 5, 2018 7:35 pm
Finally noticing that someone entered my room, I look up from the book.

— I was sure that door was clo... I mutter while looking around, still half imersed in contents I was just reading. Ah, yes. Gundren. If you have a map - I can point to a location that he is... Or was about eaight hours ago. It won't be precise, but about 1 to 2 miles radius should be better than nothing.
Oct 6, 2018 3:11 am
Really? Sildar seems shocked, Thats wonderful news. But how? I have been asking around and no one in town knows about Cragmaw Castle but I found out about a Druid local who is familiar with every inch of the Neverwinter woods and the areas around Phandalin. I was assured he would know where to find the castle. The only problem is that he is not currently in Phandalin. He has traveled to the ruined town of Thundertree east of Neverwinter. I was going to suggest you head that way and find him. But if you are confident of Gundrens location then I don’t know that that is necessary any longer.
Oct 6, 2018 5:31 pm
— I can spend about an hour to make sure that he's still where I sensed him last night... I shrug and stand up from the bed, doing some light stretching. But before we go there, I made a promise to ... run an errand for sister Garaele. And she would provide some potions of healing. They might be very useful in our rescue operation.

Is there by chance this would be running by the old well of owls? Bebaral pipes in from the doorway.
Oct 8, 2018 6:27 am
— I do remember about his life. But yesterday we lost three. And I don't want for this happen again. I answer to Sildar and turn towards the unknown halfling next. I honestly have no idea where this 'well' of yours is located at.
Oct 8, 2018 8:15 am
At the mention of potions of healing and the three lost lives, guilt appears on my face. It lasts for a moment after what I temper my feelings and focus on protecting those who are still around.
— Let's see where you were able to locate that Gundren. If one of your friend's life is on the line, there's no time to wander around!
Bebaral, I think saving him comes before helping you in the task we discussed yesterday. But I sure we can go to your well after that, if you join us.
Oct 8, 2018 1:43 pm
Sildar will lead you all back to the Townmaster's Hall where he has set up. On a desk he has a map of the Sword Coast that marks some of the known landmarks of the area.

From what you say is Gundren's location, that sits just over a days travel. Conyberry lies about 2 days travel on the Triboar Trail with Old Owl Well another day beyond that to its South.

— Do you have a copy of this map? If not, I probably should make one... Anyway, I already promised to make a trip to Conyberry and when we go into that... castle - some potions could be very useful. I do realize that this means about five days before we actualy get there... But going in without any preparation will be worse.
Oct 8, 2018 3:16 pm
Oh well that loooks like its on the way. I could accompany you guys.
Oct 8, 2018 3:32 pm
Gu'lorg rubs his chin as he considers his allies' thoughts.

Perhaps. Well, if your friend is still alive, there is no reason to think that whoever captured him would kill him now. Therefore, whether we lunge in headlong towards him, or we gather ourselves and prepare for the oncoming assault, it will most likely not change Gundren's fate.

I lean towards Leylin's suggestion, and we solve the tasks that will get us the resources to be adequately prepared for our upcoming fight.

He stands up, cracks his neck and upper back, and then says, So, to this Conyberry place, then? And perhaps we could gain some additional magical boosts from Bebaral's little journey that he wishes to go to. I say we do those two things.
Oct 8, 2018 3:47 pm
— And if we're going in that direction... We might ask people of this town if we can do something for them there... Just a thought.
Oct 8, 2018 3:52 pm
Sildar mirrors the Hobgoblin in rubbing his chin in thought. Considering his logic. Perhaps you are right. If they have kept Gundren alive for now, they may well wish to keep him alive until they can get the information about the Lost Mine from him. Do not delay. There may be larger things at stake as well.

Sildar rolls up and hands the map to Leylin, Here, I can get another from Barthen

While I stood quiet since we got into Leylin's room, I feel like it is time to ask for some information about the apparently urgent matter. Considering that half of us were not in the group yet a day ago, it sound pretty reasonable to ask for some additional details here.
— Logic would be to go to Gundred first, then Conyberry and finish with the Old Well. But you seem to imply that this first destination requires special preparation in which case Conyberry definitely would be the good choice. Plus, there are some people there that I'd be glad to see again.

Oct 12, 2018 2:32 am
OOC:
Leylin would be pretty close to or done and beginning to reread the book at this point.
Sildar tells Spark the story of how Leylin and he have a shared friend, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker. Gundren and his two brothers, are miners and have found the lost mine of Phandelver which is said to hold the forge of spells.
[ +- ] Lost mine

Gundren and I left Neverwinter after assembling a small group of people that all knew Gundren. Leylin here was a member of that group, who were tasked with escorting supplies from Neverwinter to Phandalin while Gundren and I rode ahead. He and I were ambushed on the road by goblins and taken to the cave where Gu’lorg was also imprisoned. They moved Gundren to "Cragmaw Castle" before Leylin and the others were able to find and free us. We finished the journey to Phandalin where Redbrands ended up killing one of the original group, Amaris. Two others left town abruptly after another encounter with the Rebrands before Leylin and others went down into the hideout.
Oct 12, 2018 8:47 am
— Speaking of that mine... I take out the journal that I was immersed previously. This was written by an adventurer named Urmon. He speaks of the Lost Mine of Phandelver and the Forge of Spells as well. In addition to what Sildar already said, Urmon records that a magic mace named Lightbringer was commissioned by priests of Lathandar, the god of dawn, from the mages working with the gnomes and dwarves of the Phandelver's Pact. The mace was lost when Wave Echo Cave and its mine vanished from history.
Oct 12, 2018 9:15 am
You hear Gu’lorg say This is exactly what Bargrivyek had me looking for, though I knew not the history. He showed my mentor in a vision a "font" of magic, which would help me in fighting a great evil against the world at large.

He has not revealed details to me in clarity, but Droop and I must acquire magic and brave companions to prepare for this looming threat.
Oct 12, 2018 1:56 pm

You all gather your belongings and take to the road, heading north towards the Triboar Trail. A half day passes until you reach the trail and turn East in the direction of Conyberry. The first day of travel passes uneventfully and you make camp just off the trail. The evening brought freezing temperatures as well as the occasional Snow flurry.

You wake in the morning following an uneventful night to subzero temperatures.

This is certainly a good way to use cantrips. I've been traveling the Sword coast for years now, certainly do that too.
OOC:
I don't expect advantage too though, just flavors how I'm attempting to resist the cold.
— Neverwinter they say... Ha, I'd like to see them around here and repeat that name with their frozen lips! It'd be wiser to find proper cover for our camp tonight, I can't feel my toes right now...
Someone got water? Mine appears to have frozen during the night...

If you are using prestidigitation to provide heat as you march then roll with advantage.
Leylin and Bebaral definitely have one level of exhaustion an Gu’lorg does not. I’ll roll for Droop right now.
You pack up camp and continue moving towards Conyberryhoping to make it there before the end of the day. Bout an hour into the mornings march you spot a lone figure up ahead along the trail. It is humanoid in shape but unmoving like a statue. You approach cautiously but the figure remains motionless.

Oct 16, 2018 12:15 pm
As we approach the motionless figure, I shake the snow off my shoulder and tell the others.
— Why would there be a golem here? They are usually only placed where there is something or someone to defend. Maybe it froze on its way to somewhere? Because I definitely am freezing on my way to somewhere.

The statue's eyes seemingly light up when Gu'Lorg approaches. It's mouth moves into the semblance of a smile and it begins to speak. "Be calm, hobgoblin. Nine is no threat to you, it says slowly. Unless you plan to cause harm, in which Nine would suggest getting something bigger than a stick. It looks around its surroundings and to the other adventurers nearby, Were you sent here by the creator..........Nine does not know where it is. It's voice is deep, but soft; masculine, but also somehow feminine, not giving a solid idea of gender. Where is Nine? Who are you?
Oct 16, 2018 2:37 pm
H-hey n-n-n-ine, I'm B-b-ebaral. wha-wh-what is this cre-creator you speaking of? Bebaral says shivvering near the creature.

We are not certain who your creator is, NINE. I am Gu'lorg, booyagh to the great Bargrivyek. You may join us as we quest to save this world. Perhaps on our journeyings, we will come across your creator.

Gu'lorg then asks, Let's talk as we walk. How did you come to this place, exactly? He continues to walks in the direction they were travelling, looking at this unique automaton.

OOC:
As a reference:

Everyone except Gu'lorg and Droop currently have 1 level of exhaustion due to the extreme cold...this results in disadvantage on all skill checks only!

I';ll give you guys a little room to rp as you like before moving on to the next bit.

Thanks
Oct 16, 2018 8:21 pm
This one will travel with you. Nine has no objective and would like if you humanoids would help him find The Creator. Nine will help you if you are in need of Nine's help. This one does not know why it was here. You are the first Nine has seen in a long time. This one has been waling for......a very long time.

It seems the cold does not bother him, but his joints creak as he moves, making him walk slowly and loudly. Where are you going? What are you saving this world from? What are the rest of you called, this one knows Gu'lorg and B-B-erbal? Why are you on this road? Where did you come from? His questions come at a quick pace and as he walks, you notice a number of handles sticking out of his back, possibly weapons but they disappear into his back. One of them is smaller, one larger, and a few appear to be the hand-end of...javelins?
OOC:
Berbal, he is mostly metal, but bits of wood do show from under is armor plating.

Leylin you don’t know what Nine is but the more you observe him you are certain he is no Golem. At least not any that you have read or heard about.
Oct 17, 2018 6:37 am
— Follow us if you want. I blow my breath at my palms and shrug slightly. I'm too cold to care.
Oct 17, 2018 2:17 pm
Unfortunately my new friend, we are not certain what threatens the world yet. But it will present itself once we have been adequately prepared for it.

Do you know your creator’s name? That would help in finding him. Also, for what purpose were you created?
Oct 18, 2018 7:27 am
I approach the golem with caution. It doesn't seem to be aggressive, but could definitely be dangerous if rubbed the wrong way.
— You can call me Spark. It looks like you are a strong and tough, your company at our side could most certainly be useful. I pause for a second, rubbing my hands to warm them up and cast that spell that helps me survive the extreme cold.
Does this hostile weather affect you at all? It doesn't seem to bother you much. Anyway, we are on the road to recuse a friend for which we need to retrieve some additional equipment to be prepared.
Oct 18, 2018 10:50 am
Nine.......does not know the name of the creator. This one did know but.......it has gone. Possibly it will come back, one day. Nine does not remember much, currently.

Nine turns to Spark, Nine does not feel the cold but this one does know when it is cold. Nine's joints sqeek and it feels hard to move well and think, sometimes.
Oct 18, 2018 2:17 pm
OOC:
Excellent way to put that!
Beberal starts moving ahead of the party Welll wh-what are we wa-w-wwating for.. Le-le-lets go! he says as his teeth are clattering.
Oct 18, 2018 2:25 pm
The construct cocks its head, B-B-erbal has a strange way of speaking. Is that an accent Nine has not heard before?
Oct 18, 2018 4:17 pm
Gu'lorg chuckles. No, Nine. That is an involuntary bodily response to the extreme cold out here. We should keep moving, though.

Gu'lorg will nudge his automaton friend along and ask more questions.

So, tell me more about the purpose of your creation. Do you have any directives that you are aware of? Do you have any skills? I am very intrigued by you, good sir!
Oct 18, 2018 5:13 pm
Nine moves with the group, his joints squeaking annoyingly, Nine was built for war but has not seen much fighting and has no current directive or objective. That is why it is important for Nine to find The Creator. As for skills, this one is strong and sees well. Unlike Eight, who was fast and quiet, Nine is quite loud........ He pauses in his speech for a moment, Nine was not aware until just now that it remembers Eight.....No matter. This one cannot express enough how strong it is, for it is quite strong, indeed. What skills do you have, hobgoblin?
Oct 18, 2018 5:24 pm
Gu'lorg utters some unintelligible words, waving his fingers around, and Nine feels a tap on his left shoulder.

I study magic, specific to fighting and war. When I am not studying war technique, I also study the sky and the stars. Bargrivyek speaks to me in the omens of the stars.
Oct 18, 2018 5:29 pm
Nine looks over his shoulder, Nine was made for war, as well. And is adept at fighting with an axe. Do you have others with you? Someone just touched this one's shoulder, but they are not here. Are they invisible? As he says this, a compartment in his back opens as he grabs one of the handles that stick out. He pulls out a greataxe.
Oct 18, 2018 6:42 pm
Gu'lorg begins laughing. He smiles really big. Ah, Nine. That was one of my spells. I was demonstrating booyagh, or magic in the trader's tongue.

There are others with me.

You met Bebaral, our newest little thief friend.

There is also Spark, Leylin, and this is Droop'lorg, another of my kin.
He gestures to each of the people as we continue to walk.
Oct 19, 2018 8:38 pm
This one is glad to meet you, all. It has been a long time sine Nine was in a fight. As he says the word fight his eyes quickly flash red before returning to normal.

He hefts the large axe to his back, where the compartment squeaks open as he places it inside, closing with another audible squeak. Do you know how far your destination is?
Oct 19, 2018 9:21 pm
OOC:
Hey guys.
Sorry for the lack of posting since we met NINE, but I was preparing my departure for a rather long vacation.

I'm not sure if I told you already but I'm enjoying the last 12 hours of internet access before a two weeks vacation in remote Asia.
I'm sorry but I don't think I'll be able to post at all. I'll let the fate of my character in the hands of our dear GM, hoping that he'll survive until I come back.
Looking forward to come back plating with you guys!

The sun begins to get low in the sky when you first spot Conyberry in the distance. The town lies in ruins.
OOC:
Leylin, if you were not already aware of it, Sister Garaele would have informed you that the town of Conyberry was sacked by barbarians years ago and now lies in ruins. The Triboar Trail runs right through the abandoned town (Gu’lorg would have passed through the town on his way to Phandalin from Yartar originally before getting captured.
The town acts as a landmark for you as an old trail leads northwest into the Neverwinter wood. Agatha’s pair lies a few miles outside town. The forest grows dark and still as the trail winds deeper into the trees. Heavy vines and thick layers of moss drape the branches, and the air is noticeably colder than it was in the ruined village. Rounding a bend in the trail, you see a screen made from the warped branches of trees standing close together, woven into a dome like shelter in the shadows. A low doorway leads inside.
Oct 21, 2018 11:55 pm
OOC:
and no worries Ornux...I’ll box you in battle as needed and we will just hand wave your existence within the party otherwise. Have a great trip and thanks for the heads up.
Oct 22, 2018 12:47 am
I thought you said we were going to a town, not some shambles of what once was. Bebaral asks.
Oct 22, 2018 12:49 pm
Nine takes in the scene as they approach, This place has an ominous aesthetic, would you agree? it says to no one specific.
Oct 22, 2018 1:26 pm
— Technically - it is a town. Noone said that it is currently populated or anything... I shrug and look around us. Then glance at the setting sun. Shall we use one of the abandoned houses to rest? I wouldn't mind a good bonfire and a hot drink.
Oct 22, 2018 1:54 pm
That would be best, I think.

Gu’lorg walks towards an abandoned house, and peers inside. If it seems safe, he will walk in and check it for access points/potential threats.

After a few minutes of squeakily walking around the building, Nine returns. Everything looks clear. Resting in this place seems safe to Nine. Please let this one know what you require of it.
Oct 22, 2018 4:47 pm
Can you start a fire?
Oct 22, 2018 6:24 pm
Yes. Nine proceeds to go back outside and gather firewood.
OOC:
Ski, there a seemingly working fireplace in this building? Is it going to catch the house on fire if I start a fire in it?
Oct 22, 2018 11:07 pm
OOC:
Sure, you find an abandoned home that offers enough of a roof and walls to provide adequate shelter from the cold and wind. There is a stone fireplace that appears to be functional enough.
Oct 23, 2018 12:06 am
After a short while, Nine returns with a large armfull of wood, already split for the fire. A few minutes later the fire has been started and growing. This one knows the importance of fire for you all. Anything else you require of Nine? Would you like this one to take watch?
Oct 23, 2018 1:57 am

Oct 23, 2018 11:38 am
— I also need only four hours of meditation to recover to some extent... I enter the house we designated as temporary shelter. But for next hour please don't disturb me, as I'll try to ascertain if our dwarf friend is still at the same place he was yesterday...

For the next hour Leylin will use the same ability to check Gundren's current location.

Nine moves to the door after the fire is going good, This one will stand watch for a while, it only requires about six hours of rest so let it know when one of you would like to take over. The warforged steps outside and stands in front of the door, occasionally taking a lap around the house during it's watch shift.
Oct 24, 2018 2:58 pm
Bebaral will warm himself by the fire. Wake me when its my turn. He lays down on his gear snuggling into his bedroll and quickly passes out.
