This is the entire list of playable races - obviously, some wouldn't make sense for this campaign (aka, horde races, being a murloc, etc). If you want a non-Core Rules book, non-Alliance race, or something that in general is just "out of the ordinary" of a race, you MUST PM me first to discuss it. I need a good background reason and explanation to know how it'll mesh into the story.

Hey guys! Excited to play this game! :) I have decided I will be playing a male draenei shaman(tbc if its a battle shaman or normal shaman). :)
Oct 6, 2018 12:30 am
Nice! Enjoy your creation process - I am sure it'll be an amazing character.

Hi, any possibility to play as Pandaren?
Oct 6, 2018 1:06 am
Yep there is! Just follow the links I added in on the top post.
Oct 6, 2018 6:05 am
Just a quick qns, which time period will this be in?
Oct 6, 2018 6:52 am
It is concurrent with WoW MMO time. Anduin is king, Teldrassil has been burned down by Sylvanas. For those not familiar with in-game lore and events, there are ways to find the info/I can direct them to links. Now while these things are happening, this may mean horde-alliance battles, but also, it's not the main focus as you are all starting at level 1. It can be a bigger monster to fight later on.

Part of me really wants to play a high elf, but I don't feel like they fit, plus the racial levels make me hesitate more. I'm leaning towards Gnome... Mage or Rogue. Still on the fence. Any suggestions or preferences?
Oct 6, 2018 5:54 pm
I mostly played as Tauren, so I'm not very familiar with Alliance part :)
But as I'm partial to Pandaren, idea of traveling monk is appealing to me :)

I think either is fine. I think they included High Elves because it was made with Vanilla in mind, but it doesn't mean you can't still use them. Some of them have come out of exile, and arcane magic is now allowed by Night elves - so I don't see the issue. You were, centuries ago, once part of the night elves and may still care for them.

Gnome is fun too! We have a druid for sure, so if you want to avoid spell caster then you can - but I find either are good choices!

Sorry this didn't help much lol, I want you guys to have some freedom in your decisions.

That is fair - feel free to look at alliance history etc on WoWWiki - it's long but you really just need to skim. Pandarens are fine as long as you can make a reason that makes sense for the start I've put in another forum. Give a good reason and I'm good with it!

Please Don't Forget:

On page 121 of the PDF, there are the skill equivalents to the WoW MMO's skills, so if you want to reference/use those for your character, peek at that table!

If anyone interested, I cut the last two pages with character sheet from the rule book: https://goo.gl/YpxVrf
It's less blurry

The book tells us to roll 4d6, disregarding the lowest result. If you'd like us to roll in here, you're gonna have to change the settings or something because it's not letting me.

You don't need to do it here. I work on an honor system for ability rolls. I think that if people wish to have fun in the game, they can see fun in lower scores just as much as higher ones.
Oct 6, 2018 8:39 pm
I used the Dice tool through the link at the top of the website and got the following: 16, 8, 15, 15, 12, 17
I know that if I roll again, they're gonna be crap. Oh well.

In that case, woohoo!

Those are some pretty decent rolls! (we won't talk about the 8... :P)
Oct 6, 2018 9:34 pm
I don't mind the 8 at all if it means I have other rolls like that! ^_^
Oct 6, 2018 11:51 pm
4d6 - ( 6, 2, 6, 1 ) = 15 > 14
4d6 - ( 6, 1, 3, 1 ) = 11 > 10
4d6 - ( 2, 3, 2, 4 ) = 11 > 9
4d6 - ( 4, 1, 5, 6 ) = 16 > 15
4d6 - ( 4, 3, 5, 2 ) = 14 > 12
4d6 - ( 5, 6, 2, 6 ) = 19 > 17

The site's dice roller did good by me :D

Oh nice job! I’m excited to see your character!

I already have a concept of her. Filling out the sheet takes some time though :D
I'll be taking racial levels for her, so race/class is panda-panda :)
The idea of her backstory is that she was a part of diplomatic mission in Teldrassil from Pandaren clans. She got separated from others during the attack. This way my lack of knowledge of current events in Azeroth should be not an issue.

I like it, makes sense! Will do well to see what class she develops into :) Good luck Panda-Panda! :P

9,16,13,13,7,13
Here are my rolls! :) compared to everyone's here their quite mediocre XD especially that 7...
Oct 7, 2018 2:09 pm
I got pretty lucky, rolling physical dice at home. 12,12,12,15,15,17, which is good because as a druid it looks like I'm going to be pretty useless for a few levels. :)

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out as the D20 mechanics really don't align with the mechanics in Warcraft. Casters in Warcraft cast all the time, with big powerful spells on cooldown timers, and have damage and heal over time effects, etc. My 1st level druid can heal twice a day and summon a badger.

Yeah, 3ed dnd was harsh for low level casters. Cantrips in 5e solved that (or at-wills in 4e)
Oct 7, 2018 5:23 pm
I get that feeling. I've begun seeing even low level casters in WoW as more like high leveled D&D casters. The stuff players do in the MMOs just aren't doable until much higher levels in TTRPGs. Still, I think we'll have fun. :)
Oct 7, 2018 6:42 pm
4e did it pretty well :)
But it's worth remembering that scale is different. You won't kill thousands of monsters during dugeon run in TTRPG. In MMO that is almost the norm.
Oct 7, 2018 7:19 pm
Well, if you guys are interested, there is an adjusted manual that I found which tries and fixes the brokenness in WoW RPG. I don't know how you would all feel about adjusting abilities, however.

But if you are, here's the guide:
EMM&M
I know it reworks hunter, changes druid a bit, etc... It's up to you guys, but if one person wants to do it, everyone should as to keep everyone on the best level. So have votes, if you will? We would also follow the mana point system then, too, if we went by this rulebook adaptation.
Oct 7, 2018 9:37 pm
I'm ok with it. MP are more fitting for WoW than slots :)
Oct 7, 2018 9:59 pm
Alright. Let’s see what the others think!
Oct 8, 2018 5:43 am
Yep, I'm all for a mana system.

Btw, just wondering how does draenei racial levels work? I'm not sure what BAB means XD. I'm planning on developing as a draenei class first, cause I want those advantages, but my backstory for him was that he was one of the draenei liberated from Draenor during WOD and made his way to Azeroth. So given that WOD was quite some time before the current events, I'm not sure how to exactly describe him not having a class if you get what I mean XD
Oct 8, 2018 6:20 am
Racial levels work just as any class.
BAB is Basic Attack Bonus - it's what you add on your rolls when trying to hit something/-one.
Try to remember, that "class" is for players. Characters can and will describe themselves as they please, not constrained by our terminology :)
Oct 8, 2018 7:00 am
I’m glad everyone is onboard! So for anyone it applies to, make sure to either edit your character sheet or glance over the rules to make sure you understand. Racial levels are just like taking a class level. So if you’re level 3, you could have 2 Draenei race levels and 1 Shaman level, essentially. So he can just be described as an adventurer, maybe he was just intergrating back into this dimension and society that is modern and wanted to help with the effort of his brethren, etc... after all we are just looking at the basis and hoping to build stories! So maybe he isn’t casting tons of spells yet but he could learn to do so :)
Oct 8, 2018 7:11 am
Ahhh I see. So i can take the draenei racial level 1 now and when I level up, instead of taking another draenei level, I add 1 shaman level?
Oct 8, 2018 7:27 am
Yep! Exactly.
Oct 8, 2018 7:38 am
You can read on multiclassing on page 90 of the manual.
Do note that exp penalty doesn't apply to racial levels :)
Oct 8, 2018 8:00 am
Ok thanks! Got the idea for my character! He was one of the first few to learn shamanism from Nobundo, but after the draenei were enslaved by rhe Iron Horde, he was too scared to call on the elements as he alone could not fight against the entire iron horde and he was worried for his draenei friends(friends and lover, if lovers are allowed). Thus as he slaved away under the iron horde, he lost his touch for shamanism. Is this ok?
Oct 8, 2018 8:42 am
Just an idea - he could've received training and knowledge, but never had the chance to put them to practice.
Oct 8, 2018 12:29 pm
That's a good idea! :) just wondering how much silver makes 1 gold and how much bronze makes 1 silver. I bought a 40gp Greathammer and 25gp studded leather.
Oct 8, 2018 12:32 pm
10 copper = 1 silver
10 silver = 1 gold
10 gold = 1 platinum
Oct 8, 2018 12:51 pm
Ok thanks! Which page of the rulebook talks about using skill points?

Of course lovers are allowed! Please do root your characters into families, bonds, and some events - flesh them out but still moldable enough by the game. You are also welcome to forge new friendships etc with NPCs too if it comes up, as this world is living and moving just as your characters are. Also yes, that background idea is definitely okay :)
Oct 8, 2018 5:16 pm
As for skill points, your race should give you the amount of skills you can choose to be trained in, essentially, let me check
Oct 8, 2018 5:21 pm
It’s in the rule book on page 114. Obviously you didn’t choose a class, but your race as Draenei says: 2 + Int modifier x 4 (that’s generally the basic beginning)
Oct 8, 2018 6:47 pm
Hey Everyone, please look:

Remember to get starting gear and armor/weapon, as well with beginning gold. Every class in the rulebook gives a "package" example, adjust weapon to your need, your gold amount, along with extra starting gear specified to your class (ex, healers get scrolls and parchments). Here would be the other starting gear you would get:

Gear:
Backpack with waterskin, 1 day’s trail rations,
bedroll, sack, 3 torches, and flint and steel.

For those with racial levels:

Choose 1 common armor in your racial proficiency, 1 common weapon, and you would get 1d4 gold!

If you're completely done with your character, please go to this forum.

What if I already used this part:
Quote:
Starting Gold: A 1st-level pandaren with a level in pandaren begins play with 5d4 x 10 gold pieces
got about 130gp (don't remember exactly) and spent it for gear? I feel like we're getting disadvantage compared to those that have "starting packages"
Oct 9, 2018 2:23 am
Ahh, I see. I'm sorry that happened and I didn't say this earlier. Really, the option is to re-do it so you don't have the disadvantage. Are you okay with that?
Oct 9, 2018 10:50 am
If possible - I'd like to keep armor and weapons, backpack and waterskin. And probably lose everything else, including money :)
Best case, ofc, to keep my current gear :D

If you're willing to drop the money down to just 1d4's worth of gold, I'll let you hold onto it. Seem fair?

Sure, let's leave it at 1gp :)
I've updated my sheet
