Character generation details, part 4

OK, so you've generated your initial characteristics (step 1), chosen your race step 2), and chosen your occupation (step 3), making all the changes to characteristics with the additional points you've received, if any. Now step four: the derived statistics.

Derived statistics

Calculate and note the following on your character sheet:

Stamina is equal to your CONSTITUTION characteristic. If your CONSTITUTION is 15 or greater, you are immune to superficial wounds.

Interaction or Etiquette (SOCIAL interactions): When you need to roll for influencing a person through argument or persuasion, you will roll against your SOCIAL characteristic plus the applicable interaction or etiquette skill. Interaction skills relate to how you interact with a particular species as a whole - thriddle interaction, for instance. Etiquette generally applies to a category or occupation of person, rather than their species - caji etiquette, for instance. You may choose to leave your interaction and etiquette skills alone, or you can optionally choose to be better at one or the other. Increase all of one type by +1, +2, or +3, while penalizing the other the same amount. For instance, you could choose to improve all your etiquette skills +2, but you would have to take a -2 penalty to all interaction skills.

Color Points: Color points are used when learning new isho effects ("dyshas") or when activating isho-powered devices. Humans and boccord have color points equal to their COLOR characteristic. Muadra have color points equal to twice their COLOR characteristic. Crugar, woffen, and bronth have color points equal to half their COLOR characteristic, rounded up.

Moon Skill Ranks: The planet of Jorune has seven moons, and each has a corresponding flow of crystal energy ("isho"). Each character has skill ranks in some or all of these seven types of moon skills. Each isho effect ("dysha") that your character may learn requires a minimum rank in one or more moon skills. Your initial moon skill ranks are equal to your COLOR characteristic for humans, woffen, and crugar; equal to twice your COLOR characteristic for muadra and boccord; equal to half your COLOR characteristic (rounded up) for bronth.

Maximum Isho Points: Isho points are spent to create isho effects ("dyshas"); characters have running pools of isho points, up to the Maximum Isho value. Muadra and boccord have maximum isho equal to twice their ISHO characteristic; all other races have Maximum Isho equal to their ISHO characteristic.

STRENGTH bonuses/penalties: If your character's STRENGTH is 5 or less, note the following penalties: -1 Advantage, -1 Hit, -1 Injury Bonus. If your character's STRENGTH is 16 or more, note the following bonuses: +1 Advantage, +1 Hit, +1 Injury bonus

AGILITY bonuses/penalties: If your character's AGILITY is 5 or less, note the following penalties: -1 Advantage, -1 Hit. If your character's AGILITY is 16 or more, note the following bonuses: +1 Advantage, +1 Hit. These bonuses/penalties are cumulative with the STRENGTH bonuses/penalties.

Maximum lifting weight: An ancient temple collapses, and rubble buries a companion. How much weight can you dead lift to get off of your friend? That's the maximum lifting weight. Weight is measured in pounds for our ease of reference, though units of weight and mass vary wildly across nations on Jorune.
Refer to your character's race to calculate his/her maximum lifting weight in pounds:
Muadra: STRENGTH x 10
Human, woffen, and crugar: (STRENGTH x 10) +100
Boccord: (STRENGTH x 10) + 200
Bronth: (STRENGTH x 10) + 300

Size modifier: size modifier has an effect on how easy you are to SPOT, to target, and how much damage you deal in certain situations. Muadra have a size modifier of -1. Boccord have a size modifier of +1. Bronth have a size modifier of +2. Humans, woffen, and crugar have no size modifier.

Running speed: Some races have higher speeds than others. For most characters, the running speed is equal to their SPEED characteristic. Woffen running upright have a running speed of SPEED -2. Woffen running on all fours (only possible with a herbal limilate called "gawdieth") have a running speed of SPEED +4. Crugar running on all fours have a running speed of SPEED +6.

Friends: Add SOCIAL + EDUCATION. Divide by 10, rounding down. This is the number of close NPC friends your character has.

Foci: Your character has many skills. He/she will learn by focusing on a few skills and trying to use them: how many skills you can try to improve is your character's number of foci. Divide your LEARN by 3, rounding down. This is the number of foci your character has.

Practical Knowledge Skill Ranks: Multiply your EDUCATION x 3.

Common Skill Ranks: Multiply your EDUCATION x 3.

AGILITY skill ranks: Divide your AGILITY by 4, rounding down. This is the starting rank for the three agility skills: Jump, Climb, Swim. You then have your AGILITY in additional points to put into those three skills.

Extra Skill Ranks: Subtract your occupation's cost from your EDUCATION, then multiply the result by 3.

Aim Bonus: Divide your AIM by 4, rounding down.
