Rumble City (Genesys) [ EDIT ]

This game has been retired! That means it's no longer being run.
Two-fisted action awaits you in the urban sprawl of Rumble City, where gangs run the slums and martial arts are a cultural touchstone. You are one of the good guys, a street fighter trying to keep the city safe from hardened criminals and corrupt cops alike.

The game is an homage to the beat-em-up video games for the 1980s and '90s: Double Dragon, River City Rampage, Streets of Rage, Final Fight, etc. So wrap your fists, put on your bandanna, and get ready to kick some butt.

The game uses the "Ready... Fight!" supplement to the Genesys RPG, but ownership of that product is not required to play.

Characters should follow standard Genesys character creation rules. Archetypes may come from the Genesys Core Rulebook (the Intellectual, the Laborer, and the Socialite), or from the "Ready... Fight!" supplement. I strongly advise you to put as much starting XP into your characteristics as possible, as they cannot be raised again until you buy Dedication (a Tier 5 talent). As an added incentive to build your character this way, you get 15 bonus XP at character creation that can only be spent on skills and talents.

In general, you should select your skills, talents, and gear from the Genesys Core Rulebook or "Ready... Fight!" That said, I am open to importing talents and gear from Shadow of the Beanstalk, Realms of Terrinoth, or Foundry supplements on a case-by-case basis. Just ask me first.

The video games we will be emulating feature good people who happen to fight a lot. While your character does not have to be a saint, they should be at least a decent human being. In other words, this is not Grand Theft Auto, and it is not a game for "evil" or "edgy" characters.

Your missions will involve a lot of fighting, but you'll do other stuff as well. Think about giving your character some abilities that don't have to do with combat so you can fully participate in these other scenes. By the same token, all characters should have some combat capabilities; you're living in a city where the martial arts are a way of life. Encounters will likely break down like so:

Fighting: 5/10
Social: 2/10
Investigation: 3/10

When you submit your character, please show your work. That is, give me a detailed explanation of how you built the PC (e.g., what were your free Career Skill ranks? What did you spend your starting XP on? Your bonus XP? How much was each piece of your gear? Are you under your Encumbrance Threshold?)

If you are new to Genesys and don't have either the Core Rulebook or "Ready... Fight!," let me know. We can work together to create your PC.
