The Shadow Lengthens [ EDIT ]

The Age of Strife is long over. Hathron, the first High King of the elves slew one of the great horrors of the north, but also fell in that battle. His son, Mathran, picked up the fight, and for two hundread years, the elves and their human and dwarven allies fought the Enemy back over the Eriathon Mountains where they built (or rebuilt) several fortresses and watchtowers to keep watch on the enemy.
Then, The Age of Shadow came about. An uneasy peace of 500 years in which the elves and their allies kept watch upon the northern borders of their lands. And aside the wildmen incursion some seventy years ago, there have been naught but minor clashes with the forces of the Enemy.
Now, the shadow lengthens. High King Mathran moved to the Eyries and sent a call to arm, more and more elves move north yearly, the roads have become prone to banditry, strange beasts are rumoured to roam the woodlands, and each year the winter steadily grows longer and colder...

The Age of Shadow uses a simplified and modified Open Quest ruleset. Combat can be risky and deadly and as such, players are encouraged to proceed with caution.
House rules and homebrews will be kept to a minimum, mostly limited to versions of some alternate rules made available in the Campaign Guide and the Crooked Staff Publishing website.
