OOC:
Since my perception is obviously going to fail, I'll use the remainer of the turn to move behind Erran, lean my torch against the wall and reach for my shortbow. Not draw it or anything since I doubt I have time, just grab it.
Nov 13, 2016 5:47 pm
Devanis takes up position across the hall from Erran and points his hand crossbow at the splintering door. For good measure, he also draws his shortsword. "Fight or flee? I won't have five more bodies littering this hall."

Glancing around for a moment, Baric scans the crypt and notes the integrity of the walls and floors.

Thud

Baric Moves out of the rubble from the statues and swaps his rapier for his other throwing dagger, one poised above his drum and the other raised to throw.

Thud

It may have to wait, but I think our only option for burial is going to be outside the crypt. Best greet our guest first, though. He's got a terribly rude way of knocking.

Thud

I'm up for a bandy if you are! Baric maneuvers slightly to have the statue nearest the door between himself and the door.

Unfortunately, though Pyrrah can find a large amount of rubble, she finds nothing that would be able to block the door quick enough.

There's another slam as Ameera rushes past the door, a few splinters breaking off as the door cracks loudly once more. Erran moves in front of it, ready with his blade. The others slowly gather around, ready to get beyond the door or face down their foe.

As this is happening, the wisp slowly goes still, then begins to gently descend down into the female corpse that lies on the ground. It slowly vanishes into its back, and the body shudders visibly. The corpse gets its arms beneath it, pushing itself off of the ground. It stumbles, however, when its broken arm bends grotesquely and causes it to fall again. But it pushes itself back onto its knees before rising. The woman's face is withered, decayed and twisted. Her mouth is gritted, baring teeth due to lips taut around her blackened gums. Her expression is malice.

Ameera tries the door, and the handle does turn, but the door does not budge. Likely it is stuck. From the first room on the right (as you originally saw it), you hear the sounds of shuffling, scraping, and breathing. Two more corpses within rise from the ground, awakened by the sudden disturbance.
OOC:
You guys easily won the initiative, so you may act in whatever order that you post. Once all of you have gone, all of the enemies will go. The stuck door will take an Action and a successful Athletics check to open.

Also, Baric, I probably wasn't clear enough on the description of the room, because being behind a statue would've left you really far away, so I put you closer with the group. If that's not what you want, let me know and we can move you.

And Pyrrah, you're freely allowed to draw one weapon at the start of combat, so you can have your bow!

I did make a map, just to give everyone something to reference, if you want it.

I would very much appreciate the map, if it's not too much trouble.

Oops, didn't realize that was a link, thanks!

"Bloody hell..." Erran mutters as he hears the cracking and grinding of bones from the woman down the hall.

"Stay dead, cretin! Ixen bluthel!" keeping the ever weakening door in his peripheral, Erran extends his hand towards her and launches a sphere of flames in her direction.

The blast of flame scorches the body across the chest, wisps of fire stretching over its shoulders and arms. The force of it causes her to stumble awkwardly. Immediately Pyrrah's arrow comes whistling in, striking her directly over the heart, and yet she continues to advance...

Ameera forces her shoulder to the door, and though it budges ever so slightly from her effort, it remains shut.

Rah tata ra tata

Baric—back to the wall of the crypt [ooc: I15] and watching the forming undead—begins moving at pace toward the creature. He uses his dagger hilts to begin a low drumming as wryly, he begins a song of inspiration in dwarvish,

The brave Ameera who stalks the deep,
her magics know no bound'ries,
iron is within her veins,
firm as any foundry's.

He throws one dagger at the creature, continuing the drumming with the other dagger flying and twirling in his fingers and sings again,

The door the door is nothing more,
Than twigs all in a bundle,
My song, my song, will lend you strength
to make those twigs all crumble!

The final beat of the drum ends and its vibration hums through the cave, resonating in Ameera as she seeks to push the door open.

Standing ready, just outside the creature's reach he draws his hand axe, preparing for whatever the next blow will be.
OOC:
Ameera, add a d6 to your next check to open the door (or any in the next 10 minutes). You have received bardic inspiration.

Baric will draw his hand axe at the beginning of his next turn, but will make an opportunity of attack with a dagger if the creature chooses to do so. I've included that roll as well if you need it.

The wight stumbles forward awkwardly, causing Baric's dagger to soar over her shoulder and land with a clank on the far side of her...
OOC:
As far as my understanding, you can draw or stow a weapon once per action, as a part of the action. So I figure Baric can draw his handaxe as part of his action to throw the dagger. The rules don't specify in what order they have to occur, and I'm okay with this.

Devanis' turn, and then the monsters!
Nov 14, 2016 4:04 pm
Reacting quickly, Devanis squeezes off a crossbow shot at the female wight down the hall and lets the weapon drop (the now empty crossbow falls to his side, held there by a cord tied to his pack strap) without looking to see if the quarrel hits. Drawing his handaxe as he moves, he darts towards the side room to hold off the two other wights.

"I'll try to hold them off! Someone help Ameera with that door!"
OOC:
The crossbow attack is against H22, then Devanis moves to J13. The two melee attacks are against K14.

The woman charges at Baric, nearly toppling forward as Devanis' crossbow bolt slams into her kneecap, but scrambling on one of her hands and legs until she regains her feet. The way she moves is maddened and crazed, engaging the dwarf in close combat just as he draws his axe.

Two more of the restless dead charge from the side-room. Devanis meets them at the doorway, delivering a quick slash with his shortsword to the first corpse he sees. This one, a tall man with sagging skin and a face that appears to have been half chewed away by rats, reaches up and catches Devanis' arm at the wrist. His strength is overpowering, but the ranger is able to chop at his forearm with the axe he drew, freeing his hand. "Ghu.. Ghh.. Ghh.." He grunts, mouth moving as though he were trying to form words. He swings the dead weight of his arm toward Devanis, who is able to move away from the clumsy attack.

As he does, a second form comes out of the shadows of that side room, charging down the slope of the room toward him. Certainly he'd knock Devanis aside at the speed he was going, if his strength was anywhere close to the other's. However, his feet catch on a loose stone, and he stumbles, scraping painfully off of the wall before stopping near Devanis, his charge rendered ineffective.

As this occurs, there is a thunderous cracking sound as the door beside Erran erupts in the center, showering him with splinters. The last four inches of a broad, steel blade is seen lodged in the door from the other side. The door will give way momentarily. There is the sound of grunting from the other side as the blade is pried away.

Ameera hears the cracking door and knows this is her last chance. Surprised at the strength of her last attempt, so all the more disappointed at failing to open the door, she hears the song with her name. To the beats of the drum she thrusts her shoulder into the door, building up for a big push on the word strength. At that, Ameera thrusts her shoulder into to door and yells, Open, by gods!
OOC:
well, that math didn't work, but it would have been 13 total. Fingers crossed that I loosened it the first time

Strength with inspiration - (1d20+1, 1d6-1)

1d20+1 : (11) + 1 = 12

1d6-1 : (3) - 1 = 2

The door shifts with a loud groan as Ameera gives a shout, and it begins to slide open. It stops hard against something blocking it on the other side, leaving only a small gap that one would have to work to squeeze through.
OOC:
You can continue to try and open it wider with more Athletics. Otherwise, anyone can attempt Acrobatics checks to squeeze through. You can use an action to do it or attempt it without one, but using an action will be a lower DC, since you're putting more effort and concentration into it.
Nov 15, 2016 1:24 am
Ameera turns to face the hall, back against the door, waiting to see what breaks through the door in front of Erran. She calls out loud enough for Devanis and Baric to hear I've this door open enough to squeeze through!
Nov 15, 2016 1:42 am
OOC:
Not quite in order, but I'll be busy later. Also, since it's group initiative, does it really matter?
"I'll go through. Try to keep them away! " Pyrrah throws her bow over her shoulder, grabs the torch, and runs for the door. Being careful with the flame, she tries to wiggle through. Once through, she'll help whoever tries to climb through.
OOC:
I think I'll try it without the action, if it's high enough. If I can get through without the action, then I'd like to take the help action for whoever goes through next. If not, then I'll use it as an action.

The order does not matter. The order will always be in whatever order you post. So feel free to go as soon as you'd like each Player Turn.
Pyrrah manages the squeeze through into the next room, offering a hand out to whoever tries next.
