Exigency: The Old Guard

Through the fracas, Pudge sees the soldier put his hand to his ear and recognizes this tell tale sign of communication. He tries to locate the communicators, but they seem to have utilized some sort of special encryption that Pudge wasn't expecting. He could easily hack it if he had more time, but he wasn't expecting it to be there, so he's thrown off.

Pudge is a bit frazzled, but he takes a breath, pokes his head just above the smoldering rubble and pops off a shot at the guard charging their position.

OOC: Does that count as my action? If so, I still have a move action, right? Can I still fire my pistol?

Rolls

Hack the radio! - (1d20+6)

(2) + 6 = 8

Shoot stuff - (1d20+3)

(2) + 3 = 5

Nov 5, 2015 1:44 pm
You still have a standard action left, yeah. You can move one tile and fire your pistol, or stay put and fire it.
Nov 6, 2015 4:56 am
Can I use that exploit to automatically shoot the grenade in the guy's hand? I'd dearly like to blow him up before he blows us up...
Nov 7, 2015 10:15 am
Sounds like exactly the kind of stunt a high-Insight character should be able to spend an Exploit for! Let's say that as a full action, you can roll FOC+Insight to hit and deal 2d6 effect (what the grenade's damage would've been)
Nov 7, 2015 2:25 pm
Darghibous sees the man running with a grenade in front of him, takes aim, and uses the man's display of the explosive (exploit) to shoot the grenade while it's still in the man's hand.

Rolls

Shoot grenade (FOC + Insight) - (1d20+6)

(12) + 6 = 18

Explosion - (2d6)

(55) = 10

Nov 7, 2015 7:08 pm
Pudge's shot goes wide, but Darghibous finds his target. The concussion grenade goes off while the Merc is still holding it: and while the manufacturers insist the tech is far less lethal than a fragmentation or plasma grenade, having a concussive blast go off mere feet from your face is hardly pleasant. The man goes down.

The two riflemen at the other end of the lot focus their fire and attempt to bring down Pudge. The gunner, noting that her pistol would likely fail to harm a cyborg, acrobatically dives for her cannon and attempts to purge the virus Pudge applied to it with a few desperate key presses and setting adjustments.

#3 is Stunned and at 2/5 HP. Pudge is down 2 HP, now at 5/8, although fortunately the +4 cover bonus from the car helped mitigate the harm a little: one of the attacks missed entirely.
#4 has removed the disabling virus effect, but to fire the cannon again she'll still have to spend a turn preparing it.

Rolls

#1's attack - (1d20+3, 1d10+2)

1d20+3 : (2) + 3 = 5

1d10+2 : (9) + 2 = 11

#2's attack - (1d20+3, 1d10+2)

1d20+3 : (9) + 3 = 12

1d10+2 : (10) + 2 = 12

#4 trying to re-enable her cannon - (1d20+2)

(11) + 2 = 13

Nov 8, 2015 9:32 pm
Hm. Can I do a 'stunt' as you put it seeing as no 4 still has an exploit? I want to throw her off this building.
Nov 9, 2015 10:42 am
Well stunt was just an arbitrary choice of word, it's not a specific mechanic or anything, I just think it's appropriate to be able to do something that affects the pace of the fight/affects the narrative when spending an Exploit. So, sure, let's say you can roll STR+Melee as a full turn action to push/throw her out of the current tile. I think the fall should KO her at such low HP, so you needn't bother rolling for effect but I'd still let her roll Mobility to try and minimise the impact.
Nov 9, 2015 1:56 pm
Remembering the state of the car and deciding that she daren't let the woman fire that cannon again, Serana shoulder charges her off the precipice.

Rolls

Spending the exploit - (1d20+9)

(13) + 9 = 22

Nov 9, 2015 2:56 pm
Having trashed the drones, Wilhelm sprints towards the two mercs in cover.

(Spending my whole turn to cover the distance)
Nov 9, 2015 10:33 pm
As Wilhelm appears in their midst the two Mercs reach for their combat knives and lunge at him. The exposed rifleman recovers from his brush with his own conc grenade and attempts a burst of automatic fire, but only succeeds in adding to the holes in the fiery cab.

The specialist has various grapples and claws and shock absorbers built into her armour. They're not enough. She falls to earth and doesn't get back up.

Wilhelm is down 1HP but the other attack failed to connect. #4 is out of the fight.

Rolls

#1's Melee attack - (1d20+1, 1d6)

1d20+1 : (4) + 1 = 5

1d6 : (1) = 1

#2's Melee attack - (1d20+1, 1d6)

1d20+1 : (15) + 1 = 16

1d6 : (4) = 4

#3's Ranged Attack - (1d20+3, 1d10+2)

1d20+3 : (6) + 3 = 9

1d10+2 : (9) + 2 = 11

#4's Mobility check (DC22) - (1d20+5)

(10) + 5 = 15

Nov 10, 2015 8:29 am
Darghibous pops up and looks for a gap in the man's armor ("I See You!") and fires. But mostly he's trying to discourage the man and the shot goes wide. Darghibous can hardly believe the man's dedication. *You've just been blown up by your own grenade, it's probably time to reconsider your life choices!*

Rolls

Firing pistol and effect - (1d20+2, 1d6)

1d20+2 : (2) + 2 = 4

1d6 : (4) = 4

Nov 10, 2015 3:56 pm
#3 takes no Hits but he's still Exposed by Darghi's I See You aspect.
Nov 12, 2015 2:32 pm
I think I'll go whack 3 in the face then. Still waiting on Pudge's turn first though right?
Nov 13, 2015 11:19 am
Pudge hunkers down lower to the ground and uses Feedback to give Serana a shield.
Nov 13, 2015 3:30 pm
Serana leaps down from the building and charges the closest mercenary, swinging her sword in an uppercut that scours the ground as she advances. This only succeeds in slowing her down when the blade gets caught on a chunk of concrete. She stumbles and looks clumsy, but still manages to slice the man open. She almost feels sorry for him: grenade to the face, then sword to the chest.

blowing an edge point for a free standard movement (plus mobility roll to leave high ground), then full action attack on 3

edit - oh god damn it. Do I still get to make an attack, or?
edit 2- ok good. Finishing this guy off.

Rolls

mobility - (1d20+8)

(1) + 8 = 9

Full attack - (1d20+11, 1d10+11)

1d20+11 : (19) + 11 = 30

1d10+11 : (4) + 11 = 15

Nov 13, 2015 6:14 pm
By failing the Mobility check you're Slowed in your next turn and moving out of that tile costs double. So in other words, you can't use a standard action (from the spent Edge point) to move and the full action (basic allowance) to attack, it'll have to be the other way around. I'd still let you use that attack roll but with -2 to-hit and -2 effect as it's downgraded from a full attack to a standard attack. Which would still be enough to take #3 down.

And, of course, you have an Exploit now. Be wary, elites can spend that status just like PCs can!

"Well, that was certainly a valient attempt my friends, but I regret to inform you that your time in this world, or any for that matter, is at an end." Wilhelm's scythe becomes a shining blur as it glides both through the air and human flesh.

Brutalize on one of them and spending edge to attack the other.

Rolls

Brutalize - (1d10+5)

(8) + 5 = 13

Continue the Slicing - (1d20+5, 1d10+5)

1d20+5 : (3) + 5 = 8

1d10+5 : (4) + 5 = 9

Nov 13, 2015 7:40 pm
Wilhelm makes a horrific mess out of one of the hostiles. The other man, incredibly, holds his ground and keeps his knife up. He's sweating profusely but he doesn't break and flee despite the ludicrous violence he just witnessed.

"I'm not abandoning my mission," he states, more to reassure himself than to inform the party.

#1 died, #2 has 2 HP remaining.

Rolls

Mind roll vs Brutalise (DC13) - (1d20+1)

(18) + 1 = 19

Nov 15, 2015 10:38 am
Serana puts a palm to her face. Sighs. She walks closer and raises her voice for the last rogue Leaguer to hear. "Normally I'd salute your bravery but this is suicidally idiotic. One of us took out six drones by himself. Another disabled your specialist's ace-in-the-hole plasma weapon. The other shot a grenade before the owner could even throw it.

"We haven't suffered any casualties while doing these things. Right now you're half exhausted and bringing a knife to a scythe fight. If you surrender and answer a few questions, Wilhelm won't cut you down the middle." Serana stops. "Well. We'll ask him not to. Whether he does or not depends on your answers."

Rolls

will roll (social? persuasion) - (1d20+4)

(14) + 4 = 18
