This weirdly has a lot of synergy with the Bugbear Race...
The 2 Str is ideal for grappling, shoving and improvised weapons, 1 Dex for everything roguish.
Long Limbed helps with range-problems, don't know if it would give more range for grapple/shove though.
Powerful Build helps with moving grappled enemies that are bigger than you.
Sneaky and Surprise Attack are just generally roguish.
Sadly, Bugbears are chaotic evil and a monstrous race, so they don't fit in that many parties.
One could go the way of a Bugbear growing up orphaned and on their own in a human city or something (classic way to dissociate a character from racial traits you don't want), but people would still have problems talking to a monstrous race I think.
In the end, this would be at DM discretion I guess~

Great thoughts from you, Caesar! Yes, the Bugbear would be a good fit. I don't think many people buy into alignment much these days, and even then it would depend on the setting. Bugbears PCs are totally doable in Eberron, for example!
We currently don't allow monstrous races here in this game, since we're trying to weigh everything against the Player's Handbook. But I'm sure we we'll open up some games in the future that lift that requirement, just to make sure we cover as many bases as we can. Keep the thoughts coming, it's very helpful!
