@Arina, based on something I read in one of the other threads, Heaven's Call belonged to another half-elf paladin that is no longer in the game. How did that character exit the game? I would like to tie my backstory to that paladin -- to include how "the torch was passed", as it were.
He (Krigare) is the character you are replacing and is still technically with the party. So we can do whatever we like to pass the torch :)

I gotta ask -- why does he not have it anymore?
Nov 17, 2018 4:55 am
I think because the player left.

Ah. Player left but character still with the party. I have to ponder this some more. Maybe our deities or the fey appear to us both in a dream and instruct us to transfer the weapon.

Fey are tricksters. Maybe they snatched it. Perhaps recently or perhaps long ago, swapping it with a duplicate/vestige.

I was thinking of a sword in the stone moment, or having Krigare's goddess tell him yo give the sword to another. It's just a tad dicey as you worship different gods.

Also, I think I have worked out how I'm going to get you into the main story and pass along your torch. I'm totally going for Fey trickery. I hope you don't mind.

Does the sword have a will of its own?
What is the likelihood of Krigare being dragged to another plane by his deity without much of his gear?
Does he take ill suddenly and irreversibly because of some big bad?
Does he become one with the sword, powering it up so that the next has a chance to save everyone?
Just throwing out ideas to see what sticks.

I am happy whatever works within the context of The ongoing story. As we discussed, the fey has played a big part in Jond’s life already.

@Yorrick: You don't know a great deal about your necklace other than it is old and has a very strong magical signature. While wearing the necklace, your race changes into the Aasimar race for all mechanical game purposes. You do not need to eat or drink and your body will not age. In addition, you are immune to the poison condition and all diseases and you have resistance to poison damage.
Finally, once per long rest you may summon your celestial wings. When you do so, you may add one additional point of radiant damage to each of your attacks and spells which all become magical if they were'nt already. You also gain the ability to fly and your flight speed is 40 feet. The wings will last for 10 rounds (1 minute).

@Stalwart: When you appear in the strange room with the others you find yourself in possession of a strange great sword. It is made of Iron, rather than steel, but the iron is incredibly strong and durable. Strange leafy vines climb their way up the handle and blade.

For you, Heaven's Call is a +1 Greatsword and while weilding it you can cast the Thorn Whip cantrip. In addition, should you kill an enemy of the fey with it, you may immediately cast Thorn Whip as a bonus action.

Jond's story:

Stalwart Jond woke slowly, his mind trying to hold on to a scattering dream. It was a familiar feeling. Once again, he was pulled into the Feywild and returned, another piece of knowledge embedded within.

He stood up from his cot and stretched his complaining muscles. More sword training this time, he thought. Jond continued working out the soreness as he dressed and readied himself.

He stepped out of the hut and looked around his home village, the small, secluded High Elven enclave called Mithril Arden. They say Jond was born in the Feywild and arrived at his village as an adolescent. He remembered little of the Feywild, mostly indescribable colors and smells. Jond's most vivid memories are fleeting glimpses of his father, a human hunter. He was a smiling, bearded man of great honor, who died defending his fellow rangers from a marauding ogre. Jond devoted his life so far living up to the ideals of his father.

Reminiscing done with, Jond quickly eyed his target -- his mother Corrella, the only Eladrin in the village. He found her with the other craftsman in the south circle. She had already put down the bow she was carving and headed toward him for her customary hug.

"It's been almost a fortnight this time. How do you feel, Jond?" she asked.

"Physically, the same as usual. But a little different inside," he replied.

"In what way?"

"I don't know how to describe it. It's an . .. . urge. Like hunger, but instead it's urge to travel north. I've never felt this after a visit before."

Corrella's tone combined resignation and excitement. "This must be the calling of the gods the Fey have told us about. You must answer this call. North must be where you are needed. Trust in the guidance of Rao."

Corrella smiled to ease her son. "Rest and prepare, for you shall leave tomorrow. Tonight I will prepare fish stew just the way you love it. There is much to talk about."

The next morning, the entire village turned out to see Jond off. There wasn't a villager that he hadn't helped, whether is was with his fighting skill or his kind heart. All gave him words of encouragement in his journey to the unknown.

Three days into the woods, Rao's assistance was already evident. Jond crossed paths with Yorrick, a druid who following his own urge to travel north. It was obvious to Jond that more than one god was mustering representatives for an important task. Jond wouldn't be surprised to meet others responding to the same calling.

The two of you travel together for some time forming both a working relationship and the beginnings of a true friendship. After travelling north for some time you come to a strange forest with a large, misty covered lake in the middle of it.
You make camp, and when you awake you are amazed to discover the forest has changed somewhat. The colours are absolutely brilliant and you have never seen such an array of vibrant colours or heard such beautiful animal calls.
Jond, you immediately realise thst you have somehow stumbled back into the Feywild. The two of you spend some time, questing and adventuring through the Feywild.
But time us a funny thing in the Feywild. You can never surely tell how long you'vr spent there.

One day, you fall asleep, and when you awake you are in an equally strange place and you are not alone. There are five other people around you, a human, a strange, almost fey like, cat creature, a half-orc, a gnome and a half-elf.

Your memories of the Feywild fade like a dream and try as you might to hold onto them you feel them slip away, and all you are left with is the certain knowledge that you are meant to be here and that you are about to have the adventure of a lifetime.

Yeah, I think we posted at pretty much the exact same time. Pretty funny how we both ended up including the memory loss nature of the Feywild. Still, I think that will work very well for us.
