Question though, I am slightly confused. Do we get standard equipment and starting gold or just the gold? Are the magic items in addition to what we start with or purchased?

I believe we only roll for starting gold, and thus we do not get any of the equipment granted by class and background. The magic item and potion of healing are in addition to whatever we can buy.

Rolling for gold is whatever number of D4 that your class says multiplied by 10, correct? (So 4 D4 x 10 for my wizard?)

Sorry I have so many questions. Do we get the items that are assigned to us through our backgrounds?

I believe the only items you get are what you can buy with your starting gold with the exception of one health potion and one magical item a level 3 character would have. Check with the DM for appropriate items.

I pretty much have my character made, I just can't figure out what I want my item to be...

I'm waiting on the DM to get back to me on two items. I found a cool ring that will let me store up to 5 spell slots worth of spells each day. Or a wand that does damage. Really want that ring tho
