Ishjan joins the others for a modest breakfast, vegetarian if possible. He seems particularly interested in what Ara is talking about. "May I ask what is the nature of your studies? I noticed before you seem somewhat versed in the arcane...and I would like to know more. I too am a servant of knowledge, so perhaps we can help each other."

Not sure exactly when and where the exchange between PCs is taking place, but I'd like a little time to know everyone's origins and specialties.

"I'm majoring in planar geometry and organic magical harmonics at the Library. I take night classes, mostly so I can start doing my own enchanting at the shop and stop having to pay the halfling who does it for me now. He's WAY overpriced!" Her eyes open wide as she says this last bit, as if just thinking about the halfling's prices are going to make her head explode. "But now, I think I've been doing something wrong, because Xander says he doesn't do ANY algorithms for his prayers, and they still work, so I think I'm supposed to just estimate in my BRAIN before I use a prayer and have faith that I'm close enough to make it work, and it'll work! But I don't want to waste my prayers, so I'll wait for now. ... Is there a god of math?"

Through meditation and focused intent, much of my power comes from creating resonances on the astral plane, allowing me to form quasi-real matter from ectoplasm. As for the intricacies of the arcane, I hope that in days to come you can help shed some light for me."

Ishjan turns to Paris. "I noticed you are quite skilled with a bow, so during my dream sleep last night I focused my powers of meta-creativity into manifesting arrows out of astral substance. I believe they will be quite useful to you. Not only are they made of light weight crystal, they will attune to your force of will and by extension, make your shots more accurate."

Psionic power - Bolt. Paris when we are in combat and the circumstances allow (if I'm close enough) I will manifest them right into your quiver. Otherwise I guess I'd have to hand them to you. Right now they only last 2 mins so it'd make sense to wait for combat to summon them.

Ishjan breaths deeply, so you can tell I may be long-winded. "The mind arts, or psionics, as some call it are manifested by the absolute belief and understanding that the mind has command over all things. Mind over matter, mind over mind, mind over body, mind over location, mind over reality.....the very world around us is shaped by our thoughts whether directly or indirectly no? This phenomenon can be observed by just looking all around us at what we have made - unfathomable cities, the lightning rails, arts and craft. For a psion, we manifest the seemingly miraculous through sheer will and discipline of the mind - the tool of our craft. Not so different from the way you do through faith. Not all beings have the capacity to be psions. My latent ability, as is the case with many practitioners of the mind arts, manifested in me during a time of great psychic trauma. As a boy, my left arm was completely severed, shortly after my parents were killed by our 'Inspired' slave masters."

Ishjan pauses to show Xander the left sleeve of his robe, hanging loose and armless, with only a stump at his left shoulder. "I was rescued and trained by a sect of mind disciples called the 'Splintar' who I now serve. Our philosophy of the mind was founded by our great leader hundreds of years ago, an amethyst dragon by the name of Jamuni-Mistalius, who helped to free and train many 'Inspired' slaves in the mind arts. It is believed exposure to the psychic energy of the Quori over time has helped to cultivate these latent abilities in slaves such as myself....and to this day, the Splintar still rebel in the land of Adar against the Inspired. While the Kalashtar follow the Path of Light, we follow the Path of the Prism."

"The Great Jamuni tells us first and foremost that every man is responsible for shaping the world around him. Every Splintar meditates daily on six wholesome expressions - creativity, empathy, understanding, vitality, harmony and energy. It can be said that we do not perceive right and wrong in the way that many do, instead we emphasize wholeness and balance. So while we actively fight the corruption of this world, especially the inspired, it is every bit as important to us to teach others to help themselves, and whenever possible to stamp out disharmony and corruption where it is born - in our minds and the minds of others. It can not all be shared with you this very moment, but I hope going forward we can understand each other more clearly." Ishjan pauses. "Tell me more of the Silver Flame."

When the world was young and covered by darkness, the Flame came and chased that darkness away to be replaced by good and light. Our goal is to stamp out darkness wherever we may see it, no matter what shape it takes. Those of the order, the Purified, don't offer prayer in hopes of divine intervention. Instead, we take matters into our own hands to make the world a better place."

At just about that time Paris comes wandering down the stairs. He apparently had heard part of the conversation. "It's that kind of talk that keeps me in the woods most of the time. All that jabber is completely beyond me. I don't need to know physics or geometry to know how to aim my bow and get the arrow to hit the target." He sits down and starts eating.

Kaylessa walks in with a pitcher of juice and sets it on the table. She apparently heard the whole conversation because she looks at Xander and says, "We don't get many representatives of the Silver Flame out this far. It's odd. What brings you out here, again?"

Ara huffs and turns to Paris, pushing a loose strand of hair out of her eyes. "You use physics AND geometry, you're just so good at them you don't have to think about it! That's what I'm trying to do, but with magic. But I have to figure out HOW the shapes work before I can do it on the fly."
