Victoria pulls out a note pad and asks the first person she come ups to a series of questions in French.

Victoria uses her magic powers to teleport to her bicycle and rides around the corner.

Jake sticks with Victoria, keeping quiet and observing the scene around him.

Victoria's sudden teleportation and the ensuing chaos startled Jake too, though not as much as the mundane crowd. He does not like this situation at all, but he thinks that running or trying to leave right now would draw more attention to himself. He thinks that device maybe only seeks out wizards, so perhaps he can fly under the radar and not be noticed. He hears the witness point him out, but he stands around pretending to be just as confused by all this as everyone else. He is confused, really... He regrets not asking more questions before deciding on a whim to tag along with Victoria.

Le cœur s'emballe, Victoria considère ses options. Y retourner pour aller chercher Jake serait une folie, mais ces personnes ont besoin que leur esprit soit nettoyé. Aucune capture de héros ne révélerait plus du monde caché que sa disparition. Elle doit seulement espérer que Jake pourra se débrouiller et découvrir ce qui se passe.

Victoria s'éloigne en laissant entièrement la scène de la folie. Quand elle se sentira suffisamment poussée, elle téléphonera à son ami Mauric, il travaillera dans la force et pourrait savoir ce qui se passe. Allo bonjour Mauric, j'ai entendu des rumeurs étranges et je me demandais si vous pouviez me renseigner. Apparemment, il existe un nouveau groupe de travail avec des dispositifs étranges. J'ai entendu dire qu'ils agissaient contre un de mes collègues qui travaille également avec d'anciens textes. Maintenant, je sais que je ne suis que votre consultant pour les textes, mais je me sens quand même un peu inquiet.

Pausing for a moment of thought, Victoria rides away from the chaos. Pausing only when she feels she has covered enough distance to be safe she calls up her contact on the force.

Jake makes eye contact with the officer to try to seem as honest and open as possible. He lays his Southern US accent on slightly thicker than normal. "Certainly, officer, though I don't know how helpful I will be. I'm just in the city temporarily for business. I don't know that woman, though I would like to. Good-looking gal. I saw her- or maybe more aptly didn't see her-- when she disappeared a couple minutes back. What was that??"

"Come with you? What for, officer?" Jake speaks loudly, trying to buy time to think. He doesn't resist the officer, per se, but he does drag his feet a bit. He hopes whatever they are looking for out here shows back up. He assumes it is that wizard Victoria mentioned. "I'm retired from this job myself, wore the uniform for 17 years back home."
