Merriweather
"Hah! True enough, I bet." Jacobius laughs. Standing up, he approaches the rest of the party, waving a hand slightly ion greeting. "Ware, friends. If you go to the peaks, take great care. Word came just yesterday that Nurok was overrun and the soldiers there are dead. Soldiers are on the way even now to look into it, but as you may have seen, folks are a bit tense over it."

We were just waiting for the conversation between Merri and Jacobius was over. We're just sitting here enjoying food and drink.

Bram puts his mug down, swallows hard and says, "What are you saying? They're all dead? How many were there?

Hraefn was disturbed at the comment Jacobius had made."The All Father had shown me likewise." He looked at the others, in reference to the vision he had had in the stone circle. They had imagined an easy last leg to Nurok, along with a safe spot to encamp. But this might not be the case any more. Hraefn waited for the others to chime in on this as well.

"Aye, that's the looks of it, friend." Jacobius replies to Bram. Grabbing a stool, he sits with your group at the table and calls for a round of ale for the lot of you. "Nurok is fairly new; an old giant camp that got rooted out by a band of adventures much as yourselves. Somethin' must be amiss in the hills, though, cause the critters are getting a bit bold in their attacks. I'd be wary if I were you. Safe roads there were at one time, but they might be more troublesome these days,"

Leaning back in his chair, Jacobius stretches, his shirt rising over his rounded belly, showing more of the battle scars he is known for. "Not too sure how many men were lost. maybe a small company of 30 or 40, though maybe some escaped to find safety elsewhere. Like I said, a group of crown's men are on their way now." he adds.

"Well, then, they are probably going to need a hand if what's out there can beat off as many as 40 trained soldiers." Bram rises from his seat and grabs his gear.

Cædwyn nods, "Agreed. This is after all what we have been tasked with." He downs the rest of his mug and makes ready to leave as well.

Other than eating and drinking, is there anything else you all would like to do during your layover in Tycha? Continuing the conversation, roleplaying, etc., are perfectly acceptable. I want to move at a pace you all enjoy. No rush to get you to your scheduled point of TPK... I mean... adventure... ;)

Hraefn, like the rest of his companions, sought to retreat into an early night of rest. He did not seek the comforts of sleep, but decided to spend his time in prayer and meditation. Much troubled him, and it wouldn't be long before they'd all have to confront the horrors of Nurok.

I had forgotten the time. If it's well after dark, perhaps we can take off at first light.

OOC:
Yes, you arrived at nightfall. I'll be posting later. Got busy today and couldn't.

I'm satisfied and would like some sleep.

The remainder of the night passes quickly as you all settle in. The rooms you are given are comfortable and warm, with a fireplace stocked with plenty of wood and a fire blazing in each. Your sleep is uninterrupted and in the morning the coolness of the air begins to infiltrate the walls as your respective fires burn to nothing but tiny embers.

Breakfast is hot, with spiced meats, fruits and fresh, hot bread along with a thick drink made from goat's milk. In all, your bellies are filled to their stretching point and the bright sun outside promises a day unhindered by weather. Your men gather horses and wagons out front, and your guide, Elavain, sits at the front of the train with a wide smile.

"Great morning, m' sirs 'n' ladies. Shall we be off? If th' weather holds, we're sure t' reach Nurok by midday next."

You have not missed much. The party has been traveling and passed through the standing stones to finally reach Tycha. Here, they have heard that Nurok was overrun by creatures from the mountains, apparently giants... maybe... and now are setting off in that direction... it is along the way, so why not? :D

Oh.. and the druid is pretty moody.. so beware.. ;)

moody druid alert :P
As they began to set out from Tycha to Nurok, Hraefn once again took it upon himself to fly ahead of the party, his eagle form allowing him to survey the land from above. Elavain had said that they'd reached Nurok in a day and a half, so Hraefn was even more circumspect on their second day of travel, circling more widely from a distance, to see if there were dangers to prepare for, or even outright fighting to avoid.
