You've arrived at the outskirts of Seattle. The city lights shine brightly against the overcast night sky, making it brighter than a full moon. The moon is actually concealed tonight, but you can feel that it's just peeking over the horizon, crescent moon. The cool humid air clings to your skin with an infiltrating chill that starts to make the end of your nose go numb.

You're supposed to be meeting a kinfolk here who will take you to the apartment that's been set up for you, but he's now over 15 minutes late.
OOC:
Rolling for the moon phase:

Patience, brothers. This city is foreign to us, perhaps he has merely been delayed. The Weaver has many ways of slowing progress with simple annoyances.
OOC:
Can you approve my character when you get a chance?
Dec 26, 2018 1:43 pm
Stony eyes the others as if trying to discern how he is being blamed for this. He towers at 6'10" and 375 pounds. He has long hair he keeps in braids, native style, and wears rough black jeans, a homespun shirt over a collared shirt, and construction boots. He considers words, struggles with that, and feeling the power of his moon auspice, eventually offers, "I know a Rite to ask the spirits for guidance to find him. What was his name again?"

Depending on how we were told to meet, and how much info about the contact, I am fully in support of the Rite plan. Just need to double check that before I can words it.

Jake sitting from a relax position on a local bench, looks toward Stony.

" Bah, by the time you answer the riddles from these fickled spirits the guy could be here".

standing up you see him stretch his arms trying to increase his modest height of 5'11 next to Stony.

"Why not try a howl first to tell him to get his ass in gear?"

"Depending on what's in this town, it might not be best to alert every Wyrm tainted thing that we're here just yet. How long would the rite take you anyways? If that doesn't work, we might need to resort to howling for the kin. Either way, stay sharp; this delay could be innocent city traffic, or something worse. And with our luck, it's probably the 'worse'."

Knowing it's better to have backup plans and not to need them, Donnar isn't about to ignore anything just yet, but is reluctant to announce their presence to the enemy just yet.
Dec 28, 2018 11:41 pm
The kinfolk's name is Michael Kane. He does a horrible British accent, but is a good guide. You were told he's very dependable and would probably already be here when you all arrived. You were given the address to your apartment here, but he was supposed to take you there and give you some pointers about different places in the city while en route.

OOC:
Does he have a phone number or any other means of contact?
Dec 29, 2018 9:24 pm
" Well he knows where were supposed to be."

Going back to the bench you see Jake pull a hikers backpack from underneath it.

" I say we just head there, see if maybe we can see him on the way. If there's noth'in we make a couple calls."

Stony shrugs at Jake's proposal. "If he is not there, we can call upon the spirits. There is no sense bothering them if we can find him ourselves." He looks about. "Come, let us solve this Weaver maze and find the address." He begins walking down the street, counting building numbers, and looking for a familiar Street name.
Dec 30, 2018 7:46 pm
Taking a quick looks at the rest of the group, Jake follows Stony.

Well looks like he's not waiting, maybe we can get some food on the way!"

All right! Let's have a roll. I think this is mostly likely a Perception + Investigation roll. Difficulty is 6, just need a single success. It'll take about an hour to get there. Additional successes can make it take less time.

Despite being unfamiliar with the city, it doesn't take you long to find your apartment. It turns out to be a small, one bedroom affair and shows signs of bug infestation. It's ugly, but it's cheap and provides shelter from the outside elements.

The apartment is on the third floor of the building and the door was ajar when you arrived. It is empty, however, and there's no signs of vandalism or attempted theft.
Jan 5, 2019 12:36 am
Distracted by looking about, Stony's command of English becomes more piecemeal. "Empty. Makes sense. Friend isn't here. Wait or search?"
Jan 5, 2019 5:09 am
Jake begins moving around the apartment, checking the fridge first then closets and cabinets. Seeing if anything was left behind like a clue or a burger.

" Not too sure Stones. Looking around here might be a good start. What are you two doing?"

Jake gives a casual look to Donnar and Justice.
Jan 7, 2019 2:51 am
You look around the apartment and don't see anything else of note. A little bit after you come to that conclusion, there's a knock at the door. When you open it, a young woman stands there, obviously nervous and wringing her hands.

"Is he here? Did he come with you?" she asks.
Jan 8, 2019 5:55 pm
Standing at the door, Jake gives the women a feral look then realizing he's a hard man to look at. Takes off his wool cap and removes the unlit cigar stub out of his mouth. Brushing his wild greasy unkempt hair back he says.

" I'm sorry but no. He never came to meet us."

Then with an inquisitive look

" Who the hell are you?"
Jan 8, 2019 6:34 pm
Stony looks her over, and is glad Jake responded. He only adds, "We waited, he didn't come."
Jan 9, 2019 4:37 am
She takes the news like a punch to the gut and leans back against the opposite wall in the hallway. "He told me, assured me, he'd be safe! He said it was just a short trip to the edge of town and then he'd be with you..." she looks over the group, her eyes hard and accusatory. "I wish you'd all just stayed away. Someone blabbed that you were coming and everyone knows! One of them got him. Had to have." As she speaks, tears well up in her eyes and her voice gets higher with stress and worry but she doesn't give in to the sobs that threaten to break through.
Jan 9, 2019 3:10 pm
A look of frustration shows on Jakes' face.

" I understand that your upset and we are willing to help. But .... YOU ARE WASTING TIME. WHO ARE YOU? WHO KNOWS? AND WHERE?"

The woman takes a shuddering breath, obviously taken aback by Jake's harsh tone. "My name is Mia. The man you were supposed to meet is my boyfriend. I told him not to get involved. Somehow, the fact that you were coming was leaked out to the rest of the city. At least, the rest that knows about you. The Kinfolk know. The leeches know, I hear. The hunters. It's not safe for you here. They're going to hunt you. No one is safe."
Jan 12, 2019 11:02 am
"Leeches? How do you know the leeches know? Do all these people know about this apartment?" Stony tries his gentle voice, as if they were in a church, trying to discern how wide open their presence actually is, and how she knows that.
Jan 13, 2019 4:16 pm
Mia wipes tears from her cheeks with the back of her hand, smearing her makeup to the left side of her face. "One of them, or one of their minions, found Michael and told him. He said they knew about what was coming and if he knew what was good for him, he'd stay out of it." She shakes her head, scowling. "He promised me he could take care of himself. But I was always afraid he was biting off more than he could chew."
Jan 15, 2019 9:56 am
" Well we can't stay here."

Going back into the apartment you see Jake grab his stuff and making his way back to the door.

" Mia, where was the last time someone saw him?"
Jan 16, 2019 4:52 am
Mia looks at Jake, then at the others. "I... I'm not sure. The last time I saw him was at our trailer. That was three hours ago. I don't know if anyone else saw him after me. Or, I'm sure someone did, but no anyone I know.
Jan 19, 2019 1:55 pm
"Mia, give us a minute."

Jake goes to meet the group in the semi-privacy of the apartment.

" Ok, well the only thing I can think of would be to go back to where he was and try and track him. Also, can anyone track or sense wyrm taint? I sure can't, wasn't taught the gift. "

Taking a quick look in the direction of Mia.

"Also check her as well we could be walking into a trap. What do you guy's think?"

"I can ask the spirits to track him. Is easier if they have something of his to start with, and a map of the area to show me with."
Jan 21, 2019 5:05 am
Mia waits over by the door, fidgeting and pulling out her phone to check it at least twice while you're having your discussion.
Jan 21, 2019 8:21 pm
Jake hands over his map to Stony.

" Sounds like a plan Stones. But we need to get moving now."
Jan 24, 2019 9:28 pm
Jake makes his way back to Mia. " Alright, were waiting on the other to get ready."

Jake motions to the room behind him, then wait's patiently for the pack in the hallway.
Jan 24, 2019 10:10 pm
Stony asks Mia for an object. "I can track him using the spirit world. It works best if I can show the spirits something that belongs to him. Something personal. Do you have anything like that?"

Using the proffered map, he sits on the floor and begins to enact the ritual, imploring the spirits to find Michael. He offers them a personal item that Mia might offer (if she had one on her or in the apartment). Tieing a bootlace to a knife, he enters a trance and dangles the knife over the map, allowing it to swing slowly.

Mia gives you his car keys, upon which hangs a worn rabbit foot. She gives half a smile and says, "His mom gave it to him for luck," by way of explanation.

The knife swings around the map, oscillating over it as it searches for his location. Soon, the point settles on a place on the map, its point vibrating in a small circle.

It points in the area of the apartment complex.

"He's in the building. Or on it. Or under. Gotta search." Stony moves to the door. "I'll go up."
Jan 30, 2019 3:41 am
OOC:
Ok, this would be a team check and there's really no reason for you to fail. So...
After a half hour of searching, you find a brown cardboard box in the alley behind the apartment complex. The bottom corners are wet and dark and a strong metallic smell assaults your noses. Opening the box, you see a severed human head.
Feb 1, 2019 1:19 am
" Hmm, well that's a pretty fucking strong message."

Taking a blanket out of my pack, I will look around the box to make sure there isn't a trap set magic or otherwise and respectively wrap the head in the blanket. After I will see if the box itself or the area around it may give us any other clues.

Rolls

Perception + Investigation - (6d10)

Feb 1, 2019 3:35 am
Looking around, you don't see any signs of struggle and there's not any other big pools of blood, aside from the box, so it doesn't look like he was killed here.

You also spot a fresh looking scuff on the dumpster next to it. It's a black scuff and is a bit oily to the touch.

Stony, when the smudge becomes apparent to him, gives it a good sniff, suspecting the Wyrm with all the talk of leeches earlier.

It doesn't smell like any wyrm taint you've smelled before. Instead, it smells like shoe polish.
Feb 5, 2019 3:16 pm
"Hmm, seems there very little we can do about this at this time. We need to find shelter somewhere. Then maybe later we can get to hunting some leeches!"
OOC:
Could I make a streetwise/survival and wit or intelligence check to get a clue on where to look for a "safe" place to squat for the time being?
Feb 5, 2019 3:20 pm
Stony passes on the shoe polish mystery, and endeavors to memorize the smell. "Girl. Protect?"
Feb 6, 2019 3:08 am
OOC:
Yeah, go ahead. I think your difficulty is 6 if you're familiar with this city, 7 if you're not. I am not sure if your character is, from reading your backstory...
Feb 6, 2019 2:18 pm
" That's would be wise Stones, if she needs our protection at all?" Taking a quick look back at Mia.

Thinking about my past experiences, I go looking for a street group to ask about local abandoned buildings.

Yep, not a local. Grew up in Detroit.

OOC:
Willpower is supposed to be used before the roll, IIRC. But, since we're at the beginning and getting a handle on the rules still, I'll say that's OK. And, you are correct, that's not a botch.
Spending some time wandering around and talking to people on the streets, Jake manages to get a lead on an abandoned warehouse that some homeless squat in. It's been pretty safe for several months.

Before you leave, Mia comes around the corner, having followed you from your apafrtment. "What's that?" she asks. "What did you find?"
Feb 7, 2019 1:25 pm
OOC:
Nah I'm good, I'll keep to the rules(good lesson). So maybe it has been a while plus been playing it wrong :P
" Ahhh..., listen, Mia, I don't know how to break this gently too you. This is what's left of Michael. "

Jake then makes a hard effort to make sure she can't grab the head from him.

Mia's look of concern washes off her face in an instant as she stares at the head. The color drains from her face and her lower lip trembles, then her eyes roll up and her knees buckle and she slowly falls to the ground. A hollow thump sounds when her head hits the pavement.
Feb 8, 2019 3:57 am
Stony frowns. "I think that was too much." He picks her up, and stands easily. "We need a place that the Wyrm has not already corrupted."
Feb 9, 2019 3:56 am
Jake is still able to locate the warehouse where you can stay, but, unbeknownst to you, a pair of glowing eyes watches as you find your spot to rest there, and rushes off.
Feb 14, 2019 12:07 am
Konrad had been silent to this point, not what the pack was expecting from the Galliard. But it had been years since Konrad was last in Seattle, before his Change, and he was soaking in the city with his new senses. He gently lays Mia's unconscious form on the ground in a corner of their temporary home. "We need some sort of lead. And we can't just leave this poor woman here. Do we wait for her to wake and question her for potential contacts? Or take her back to the trailer and start a hunt from there?"
Feb 20, 2019 5:04 am
OOC:
Knock, knock. People still here?
Feb 20, 2019 2:14 pm
Setting the girl down somewhere flat in the warehouse, Stony says, "She's our only lead. When she wakes, we can ask her more."
Feb 21, 2019 4:48 am
As if on cue, she stirs and starts to sit up when she's laid on the cold concrete floor. She winces and puts her hand to her head, where it hit the pavement, and asks groggily, "What... what happened? What's going on?"
