LOL forgot … Does Duke try to hatch the egg with magical fire before we go to the main game or is that going to be attempted after we get into the main game?

First he try just using steam.. then go for trying to put on the edge of bonfire.. then proceed to move it in.. when all that fails he will try sacred flame cast at near it a couple of times and see if that effects it..if not then try directing sacred flame at it.
Otherwise he keeps increasing the heat to see if it will hatch. If it takes more than a hitting it directly with Sacred Flame then he is going to have to get more professional help.

Nothing happens until you target the egg with your sacred flame spell. As the flame strikes the egg it explodes in a raging inferno of sacred fire. The fire reaches up into the sky and spreads to your right and left but luckily not towards you and you watch as as a bald eagle sized bird made of pure flame emerged from the inferno and flies straight towards you.
You watch as the light from the flame gets brighter and brighter until you are forced to close your eyes, while, simultaneously, the heat gets hotter and hotter. It's almost, but not quite painful. You raise your shield in one last, desperate defence.
In a flash the bright light instantly fades and the warm feeling slowly ebbs away. Yet, you still feel warm, as if sitting near a small campfire.
You open your eyes and immediately notice two things. First, the big, flaming bird has gone. Second, your shield is glowing. It is night but you can see your surroundings just as if you had cast a light cantrip on yourself.
You quickly remove your shield see that it now has a large red, orange and yellow phoenix symbol emblazed upon it.
It also has the light spell cantrip cast permanently on it.
You are also always considerd warm and will not suffer damage or exhaustion from being exposed to the elements. Although, you will suffer cold damage from magical sources normally.
In addition, you may as an action attempt to summon the phoenix. Make a handle animal DC 12 check and on a success the phoenix will come out of your shield and aid you.
Acting on your initiative, you may have the phoenix either;
1. Aid you or an ally of your choice (gain advantage on attack rolls)
2. Blind an opponent (give disadvantage on attack rolls to a creature that relies on sight)
The Phoenix has a flight speed of 60 feet,
Ac 13
Hp 8
It can aid you for a maximum of one hour before it must return into your shield. Also, if its hps are reduced to 0 then it must also return to your shield. After either limitation has been reached you may not summon it again until after the next dawn.
At the moment, the phoenix is very young. You think that as it ages, its abilities can only get more powerful.

In game terms you have just acquired your new pet phoenix. While in your shield the phoenix grants you additional protection. Add +1 to your AC and you now have resistence to fire damage. It also has the light spell cantrip cast permanently on it.

Ok, so the two of you were travelling theough the northern frontiers of the Imerald Empire, one night you went to sleep and when you awoke you were blind, contrained and cacooned in some kind of sticky substance. You can join the main thread: Chapter 3 now.

Srry that i wasn’t able to play here, I’ve been busy recently. Just to sum things up for Nivernia,
She started out as a simple farm girl, but wanted more, so she slowly made her money and joined a pirate crew. Eventually, she got her own ship, and became a captain. On a heist against a royal family, she found her flute and she spirited the princess away, per the princess’ request. She and the princess eventually fell for each other, but they were broken up by that same family, who wanted their treasure and princess back. Thus, she is now on the run, trying to find a way to get her ship, crew and lover back after the family confiscated them.
