Zombie fortitude... fails. The Zombie falls under Ruby's attack, and stays down.

Combat is over.

The fire triggered by the zombies leg pulling a string burns hot, lit by some kind of alcohol you can smell, and a red colored smoke billows upwards into the air.

Rolls

Con save vs 12 (5+ Ruby's damage) - (1d20+3)

(7) + 3 = 10

We must go cautiously the element of surprise is gone. We still must remain stealthy
Jan 26, 2019 10:43 pm
Ruby pays particular attention to the alcohol's scent, breathing in the air and gagging. "Ugh, I'd almost prefer a finer alcohol if it wouldn't be such a waste." fanning her face she regains her composure, nodding with Trev's words. "Agreed, I don't believe that smoke is a natural hue."

"It's a signal." Valinar says, grimly. "We've set off an alarm."
Jan 27, 2019 1:00 pm
"Nothing for it now, my friends" says Iathos. "Let us press on as best we can"
Jan 27, 2019 2:57 pm
The trap seems simple enough. The zombie attacked the first person it saw and started the fire. The huge cloud of noxious smoke rises into the sky, clearly visible for miles, though probably would be less so if it had gone off at night.

The part that worries the back of your minds, is how did Bilik the farmer get turned into a zombie? Hasan would swear that he saw the farmer at market a tenday ago, and he was alive and well then. Bilik's farm is actually nearby, he realizes, after taking stock of where they have traveled.

Sure enough, the farm is just off the trail you've been following. Out of sight from where you are, but very close. A quick climb up the hill and a look tells you that the farm has been pillaged.

Wait, is that movement in the window?

Perception checks please, and if you are going to sneak up to the farm, Stealth checks, as well.

Iathos carefully casts his eyes over the farm and its environs.

"I'm conscious that I am not the most dexterous of fellows," he whispers quietly to his fellow adventurers. "Perhaps I should hang back to offer ranged support whilst our scouts make the first approach?"

Ruby and Valinar quickly determine that the shapes moving in the farmhouse is at least two hobgoblins. About half way through the orchard, one hobgoblin sees you.

Set up
You're fifty feet away from the farmhouse, in the open. The hobgoblins are inside the house. The yard has been picked over, kicked over, stomped over, but other than the house and a fruit-granary-thing, there doesn't seem to be anything else that might hide more hobs. The farmhouse door is on you're side of the building, toward the left end.

You can see one hobgoblin through a 2'x3' window, and you know there is at least one more inside.

Roll initiative and if you beat the hobs roll, you can act immediately.

Rolls

Hobgoblin initiative - (1d20+1)

(2) + 1 = 3
