"That's the idea!" Valinar replies. "Did I ever tell you how I got this elven weapon? I found a young, lost Gryphon in the forest. I helped it find its way back to its parents, who just happened to be the guardians of the doorway to the kingdom of the Valinor Elves."

Ruby -who is quite fond of stories and firmly believes someone as righteous as Valinar deserves the benefit of doubt- tilts her head at this declaration. "Wait, I thought you got it from a dragon. Did you lose it at some point?" She asks with a note of suspicion, hinting that she doesn't entirely believe this story.
OOC:
I'm just not gonna hide it this time.

"I did say that, didn't I? Well, remember the two rival elf clans? The Valinor elves were one of those clans. The dragon's name was Katergaris."

"Ah. Right. That makes sense." Ruby says somewhat forced, but evidently satisfied.

Hasan will awaken to the faint aroma of the foodstuffs. "Good morrow," he says as he stretches. He then looks at the young dragon, "For a moment I thought it was all some terrible dream again? So umm.." He clears his throat. "Where are we going now?"

Valinor arches an eyebrow at Ruby's mental intrusion. His eyes twinkle, and a boyish grin breaks across his face. For now, he adds nothing further to his story.

Quick question regarding Kelorik. It glows when near dragons. Given that Zoboanth is with us, will the sword be in a permanent glowing state?
Iathos makes careful note of the conversation between Valinar and Ruby. Interesting... and troubling. Valinar may not be entirely what he seems...

Turning to Hasan, Iathos grins broadly. "Friend Hasan, we go seeking a dragon! We're living the stuff of legends!" His voice is tight with excitement.

Drawing Kelorik reverently, Iathos beckons Zoboanth toward him, saying "Zoboanth, with this we can find your mother. I need but touch you and the sword, and it shall point the way."

OOC:
Yes, that sword is glowing when Zoboanth is near.
Zoboanth steps up, chest puffed out importantly, and waits for Iathos to touch him. When you do, the sword shudders, and twists in your grasp, inexorably pointing to the south of southeast. This is roughly back toward where you attacked the first group of hobgoblins. It doesn't tell you how far she is.

"Legends it may be, I hope the good kind of legend though." Hasan responds in a more flat voice.
Apr 10, 2019 5:21 am
"Aye." Valinar agrees with Hasan thoughtfully.

Iathos gulps at Hasan's retort. "True enough, and I share in your hopes my friend" he says somewhat more somberly. It's only a matter of seconds before the marvel of the adventure creeps back up on him however, and he flashes a smile at Zoboanth. "South of southeast, friend Zoboanth. The path to your mother lies ahead. Can you tell us anything about what might have detained her, or how you came to be separated?"

We ready to move one?

Ruby rolls her eyes in mock annoyance with a tiny smirk, if Valiner decides to keep telling his tall tales she wouldn't let them sully their companionship.
OOC:
Ready.

The brass wyrmling doesn't know what to expect in the world outside her cave, or what may have detained her parents. She chatters animatedly almost constantly, in both Draconic and Common. A voracious learner, she both provides startling insight into some of the rocks you see with shocking ignorance about other things. She does indicate that the dragons have other friends in the valley, non-human allies.

As you travel through the wilderness, she asks what other languages any of you know, and will pester you to teach her. Between lessons, she scouts ahead, brave incautious with instruction.

You find your way back to the first farmstead where you first encountered the hobgoblins. Arriving near nightfall, it makes sense to shelter in the house.

What do you do? What is the watch order for the night?
