"I shall return shortly!" With that, Iathos jogs off to make his farewells to his parents and Al-Jabbar, and gather his tools and gear for the journey.
OOC:
I imagine nothing noteworthy happens in the farewells, so I'll be back at the Mayor's within the hour as requested.

Within the hour, Iathos returns to the Mayor's abode. His tattered robe replaced with serviceable leather armor, a long sword sheathed at his hip and a crossbow slung over his shoulders. His eyes aglow with the possibility of adventure, he seems eager to depart.

"Don't leave without me, I will be but a minute." Hurrying back to the tavern, Ruby's head is filled with the newfound knowledge the Mayor has provided. Grabbing her staff and traveling backpack, she informs the kitchen crew of her absence.

Hurrying back to the manor she looks ready to leave, practicing her stances and drinking the remaining tea to pass the time.

Hasan speaking to whomevers looking at the map. "These hills here. They probably could be used as an ambush. I suggest we either avoid this area or be prepared for apossible struggle. I also believe over here is an area where these kobolds could hide."
He exclaims while point to the map.

"Yes, we should make haste once everyone's back."

You gather your gear and supplies and reconvene at the mayors. The last two tributes are still in the tribute cave, and the mayor has obtained a wallhanging he thinks may be suitable. It is a woven piece, made with strips of carefully color matched exotic woods resulting in a simple geometric pattern.

You have four obvious destinations to start with. The clandestine conservation cave (three hours), the Plover farm (5 hours direct travel, or 3 hours from the conversation cave), the tribute cave (2 days inland, 1 day if you do a forced march), or the area on the map where the mayor believes the lair is (a half day further than the tribute cave). Or you could zigzag and hit all forr in that order.

OOC:
I think the Kobold thing should be a priority Hasan is for his people first so he votes family then dragon(stash then place)

OOC:
Valinar would also make the enslaved family top priority. It was hobgoblins right?
Jan 7, 2019 4:27 am
OOC:
Hobgoblins is correct

OOC:
happy to search for the missing family first
Jan 7, 2019 1:45 pm
"I say we rescue the Plover family first, and see about the dragons second." Seeing that the others are in agreement, and if there is nothing else Aberwell wishes to add, Valinar gets the group going with either Atrix or Trev scouting ahead.

OOC:
I only have a +1 to perception but I don’t mind either way. My survival is +3 if we use that I’m more used to pathfinder

Gathering your gear, you head out of town. It's a warm summer day, with only a few dappled clouds lazily floating overhead. You walk down the street, and can hear the industriousness of the townsfolk in their homes and workshops... the pound of hammers and chisels, the scratch of saws, the mixing of paints, the bending of wood. And some housework as well, but after the conversation with the mayor, this town dues seem inordinately predispossessed with crafting things.

The semi-tropical wilderness beyond the town, home to a number of small orchards and lush gardens, gives way to thicker brush. The hoots and chirps of lizards, birds, and insects, displeased at your presence, obscures the sounds of your own movement, but further into the jungle you find out more bearable. At least the road had been kept clear. Hasan knows that travelers often carry machetes and hack a little bit at the growth during each trip.

It is dark when Hasan tells you you're close to the Plover ranch. You've passed a few farms, much larger than the simple ones near town. Wagonloads of produce are produced by each, destined for the barges and ports beyond. The Plovers maintain one such, growing several acres of a rich, sweet fruit particularly prized for brandies.

The road bridges a small hillock (you've been slowly gaining altitude as you move inland), and slowly you creep around the last beyond and look down on the dark ranch. The house sits beyond the six foot tall bushy crops, and beside it, a warehouse and two utility sheds. The low moonlight gives little away, but you see no lights or hear any unnatural sounds.

What do you do?

"I've faced hobgoblins before. They are natural soldiers, tough and disciplined, and know how to fight as a unit. They can see in the dark as well as Atrix and I, so unless we can illuminate the area, they have the upper hand here. Watch yourselves."

Hobgoblins are very formidable. But I am stronger I say we push through the door. If your kind needs light Valinar I can breath some fire to make you a torch. Stands slightly ahead of Valinar to not be out done
Jan 7, 2019 6:19 pm
"It's best to not light any torches unless we need to yet. I have a lantern that can conceal light should we need it."
OOC:
trev, dragonborn no longer have darkvision.

"I'm pretty sneaky, perhaps I could ambush them if we can draw them out?" Ruby chimes in.

Are you kidding me a dragon doesn’t have dark vision that is dumb

Maybe you could try to draw them out one at a time or a couple at time and Ann can taste there blood
OOC:
Ann is my axes name
Jan 8, 2019 5:49 am
"Hobgoblins harbor ancient hatred for all elves. I may be able to goad them enough to break ranks. Ann will taste blood soon enough. Ruby and Hasan, stay hidden, and cover us with your archery. Atrix, do what you do best. Beware, they will likely have archers, too. Come, Trev."

As Valinar strides forward, he straps on his shield and claps on his helm (AC is now 18). Once within shouting range of the house, he raises the elven double-scimitar high, and unleashes a steady stream of challenges and curses in elven:

"Hobgoblin filth! Thou art a foul blight upon this land! Come forth and face the wrath of a son of Valenor! Or art thou cowards?! Send thine champion then, that I might smite them to the ground!"
OOC:
I am not hiding, but trying to gain some cover from bushes and whatnot. If there'sany illumination anywhere, I will go there for the benefit of those without darkvision.

Rolls

Intimidation (possible advantage for being a hated elf) - (1d20+5, 1d20+5)

1d20+5 : (1) + 5 = 6

1d20+5 : (11) + 5 = 16
