Hello,

I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this here, but for some reason, when I type something on Gamers’ Plane, my apostrophes get replaced by question marks. Doesn’t happen all the time; just sometimes. Seems to only occur when I use my phone, though. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Yah, sounds like an encoding issue. Mind if I ask what country you're in? Or if you have a non-English keyboard on your phone? And what model phone?

I've had encoding issues in the past, but have had mixed success solving it. Can you try sending me a PM with apostrophes in it?

I see this happen sometimes in PMs, custom character sheets, and game descriptions as well.

I’m in the U.S. and using an iPhone 10.

I’ll send you a message

I've had this issue outside of GP with my Ipad. I think its an IOS issue.

As seems to be typical Apple fashion, they may be using a non-standard apostrophe... I'm hoping to address encoding more fully in the upgrade, but for now, I'll do what I can. Most likely, the characters are saving to the database ok, but aren't displaying correctly. But an example will help me figure it out.

I'm not sure it's an IOS issue. When copying information from other sources(a site, for example), while on my computer, apostrophes become question marks after they're posted. That happens to bullets(•) as well.

Ok, well, my handling of characters may just be completely out of whack then, heh.

Hmmm, I just tested it and it's kind of weird for me. I've briefly tested the use of bullets and apostrophes in the PMs, on a thread, and in the (custom) character sheet. To clarify again, right now I'm on the computer:

- Bullets seem to be always translated to question marks, both on PMs and on the character sheet. I've tried both pasting them from another source and typing them myself(Using Alt+7). They appear fine either way in a thread.
- Apostrophes translate to question marks when they're pasted from another source in both PMs and in the character sheet, however typing them myself seems to be enough for them to be posted well. They seem to work fine in threads, either way.

I'm by no means an expert, but I believe it is because iOS uses "curly" quote marks by default instead of straight HTML quote marks. I see this in a lot of places outside of GP.
