I am fascinated with anything that is a One Roll Engine. I looked up the rules and all it did was move me closer to a stroke.

Could someone explain ORE to me as if I was the court fool, or Sloth from the Goonies?

Further, anyone want to run a (simple) game of it?

Okay, so you roll a bunch of d10s. You're trying to roll the same number, the number you roll is called your roll's height.

So if you roll a bunch of 6s, your roll's height is 6.

Now the more dice which roll the same result, the better your result will be, this is called your roll's width.

So let's say you roll 5d10, and 3 of them come up 6, you have a roll width of 3 (3 dice rolled the same number), and a height of 6 (the result your 3 dice all rolled).

The greater your width/height, the better.

I seem to be getting it. I think what termed me off of the whole thing was that there was opposing rolls. Opposing rolls? But I thought this was one roll to rule them all?

One roll for YOUR action, yes, but if you do something someone else can resist/counter, then you have an opposing roll, like many other game systems out there... In that case, you're just trying to have a bigger width or height (it's been a while, I do not remember the exact order of precedence here) than your opponent.

Is there a way to play it in a fantasy setting?
