OOC:
Reaction: Redirect Attack (make M2's missed bite hit M1 instead).
Attempting Stunning Strike on first hit. I rolled a d20 for the merrow's saving throw but I don't know its Constitution bonus.
Bonus action: hand the Captain my healing potion.
When the trident-wielding merrow tries to bite him, Zale pushes its scaly face aside and makes it bite its won captain instead! The genasi monk then kicks and punches the merrow leader in the head hoping to stun it. He then hands Captain Valrakas a healing potion and gestures swimming away, hoping he can convince the captain.

Round 8: Grog, Zale, Phillip, Jack, and Kitty

Grog hacks away at the two weresharks remaining at the stern rail. Eyepatch goes down in a fountain of blood, and the dwarf's greataxe bites deep into the Mako's side as well before it gets its skull crushed by Phillip's greatclub.
(Three massive hits from Grog! 12 + 9 + 13 slashing.)
(Two hits from Phillip! 6 + 4 bludgeoning.)

Kitty bounds up the stairs and pounces on the Blackfin, knocking the wereshark prone.
(5 slashing + 4 piercing)

Nela and Shine's defense, Kitty's sudden arrival give Jack a chance to catch his breath and grab the shifting sword, which changes shape once more, coalescing into a silvery rapier in his hands.
(Gains 15hp, and a silvered rapier.)

In the water, the merrow captain takes a bite to the face from his own lieutenant before Zale's expert strikes cause it to seize up, unable to move its limbs! Zale hands Valrakas a healing draught. Hopefully the captain will get a chance to use it!
(M1 takes 10 peircing, 8 + 5 bludgeoning, and is STUNNED!)

Battle Music

The merrow lieutenants defend their incapacitated leader.

The trident bearer stabs with the weapon twice, missing Valrakas but catching Zale in the shoulder. (Zale takes 11 piercing)

The other merrow harpoons Valrakas again from afar. The barbed tip pierces his hip but rips right back out when the merrow tries to reel the raging minotaur in. (Valrakas takes 8 piercing)

Still holding the net he freed Valrakas from, Zale casts it at the trident wielder, then tries to wrest the weapon from the merrow's grip.

Upon gaining possession of the trident and realizing it controls the dragon turtle, Zale swims as far from the merrows as he can, wondering if he can try to control the beast himself.

Round 9: Zale & Ian

The merrow is caught in Zale's net. After a wrestling match for possession of the trident, Zale comes away with the weapon! As soon as he takes possession of the glowing, aquamarine trident, Zale senses a telepathic link with the dragon turtle.
(M2 Restrained and Disarmed. Zale has the Trident of Fish Command. Stunned condition on M1 ends at the end of Zale's turn.)

Ian runs up to the poop deck and fires into the water at one of the merrows. His lead shot streaks bubbles in the water, but fails to find its mark.
(Merrows, Zale, and Valrakas are all underwater. We'll say they're just beneath the surface, so attacks from above are possible, but at disadvantage. Crit misses might hit allies. In this case M2 is Restrained, granting advantage, so it's a normal attack roll. Miss.)

Rolls

M2 resist Zale's disarm - (1d20+4)

(7) + 4 = 11

Advantage for two-handed grip - (1d20+4)

(7) + 4 = 11

Kitty begins circling around the decks looking for anything else to pounce on.

Round 9

After a brutal bloodbath, the Kestrel's deck is won, but the ship is still tethered to a monster, which seems just as unhappy as anyone about it being chained to the rudder. From the stern rail, most of the crew watch helplessly as a desperate underwater fight rages on with three merrow warriors pitted against a nearly bled-out minotaur and a drunken genasi. Having grabbed the merrow captain's golden cutlass, Valrakas refuses to back down. Meanwhile, Zale has deprived the fish-men of their Trident of Fish Command.

What do you do?

Nela comes to rail with the other. We need to help them. And she takes out a straw and says a few arcana words while waving it. You all can breath water for a day. She then calls down Domare and tells it to watch the fishman and be careful. And calls to Shine, Make sure that he doesn't escape. Shine can stand over the unconscious body watching.
OOC:
Nela casts water breathing on everyone she can see as well as herself. It lasts 24 on each person. If she can see Shine, Kitty, and Domare while castings then they too can breather water for 24 hours too. Nela can affect up to10 willing creatures in her sight. if Khiiral is in 30' and sight then he is targeted too.

OOC:
Jabes.plays.RPG says:
Water Breathing...doesn't give you a swim speed, so take note of Underwater Combat Rules. But at least no one will drown!
GeneCortess says:
Does Nela have any movement left to dive into the water?
If she does then she will leap over the rail and dive in the water toward the mess.
Jabes.plays.RPG says:
You would have had to come down to the port rail to see Khiiral. You can dive from there and end your turn in the water beside Khiiral, or end this turn at the port rail, return to stern rail next round, and dive from there.

OOC:
I know it's not my turn, but is the chain on the turtle breakable?
Mar 28, 2019 7:07 am
Throwing caution to the wind, the dwarven barbarian tosses his greataxe to the deck, making it stick up so it doesn't shift, and takes ahold of a javelin as he runs and jumps off the side of the ship where all the action is taking place.

And if he can, he'd like to cannonball and try to spear an enemy from above as he crashes down beneath the waves.
