Disregard my last roll! I forgot to add difficulty. Im assuming since there was an ice storm recently, its gonna be a hard check with a setback from the recent snowfalls

Rolls

Perception- Tracks or anything i see outside the hatch?

2 Success, 1 Triumph, 3 Failure, 1 Threat

Total: 1 Failure, 1 Threat, 1 Triumph

With the recent thoughts of making sure he didn't forget anything, Mo pulls his custom blaster pistol out, checks the charge on the power pack, checks that the safety is on, and the weapon is set to Stun before slipping it back into the holster hanging low on his right hip. Looking up at the racket that his companion is making clambering up the ladder, he shakes his head with a laugh and says, "Well, well. Someone is a touch eager, no? Well, I can't say as I blame him, you humans keep your houses too warm, nothing like a good snowstorm to get the blood pumping.

Without sealing his environmental suit, though wearing all the pieces otherwise, Mo climbs up the ladder after Tiny and, with a bit more adroitness, emerges into the billowing snow with a sigh of relief. Seeing the droid scanning around with his rifle up and ready, Mo draws his own blaster pistol and begins to look around through the snowy conditions for any sign of trouble, or even the comm tower they're supposed to be finding.
OOC:
Lemme know what my difficulty is for the Perception check and I'll edit and roll it then tweak my post based on the results.
Mar 12, 2019 7:12 pm
Maldan quietly dons his environmental suit and accompanies the others to their intended destination.

I also find it curious that we are called upon to perform a task that none of us seems ideally suited for. I am a soldier, not a repairman. There may, however, be more afoot that a simple malfunction. And if there is a malicious intend behind this communications failure, then I suspect that we will all be needed before the day is done.
Mar 12, 2019 7:36 pm
"Statement: Not Eager. Suspicious. Not a single engineer in the group and we get sent on a repair job.

Suspicion: The big man knows something we dont, and fears that we will encounter a threat at or near the relay tower.

Affirmation: We are well prepared for the hostile icy environment. We will figure out what happened to the tower.

Tiny continues staring down the site of his rifle, aimimg up the ridgeline towards the location of the relay. If anything is coming, it will come from there.

OOC:
the perception checks will be [Hard] due to the wind driven snow. Visibility is just under 10 feet. Additionally add 1 setback die due to the darknes and 3 for the storm. Tiny already rolled, and we'll keep that roll, no need to re-roll.

ref page 226 in AoR core rulebook
Perception- Tracks or anything i see outside the hatch?
Total: 2 Failure, 1 Threat, 1 Triumph

The icy snow is driven almost sideways. You can't even make out the mountain you're standing on, let alone any tracks. If someone left footprints the storm would have wiped them out by now, everything looks native.

What sticks in your circuitry however is the force required to open the hatch. Your left arm servo reported a voltage decrease of 3.72 micro joules of electricity. That corresponds to about 68 newtons of force on the hatch to break the ice around the opening.

Statistically speaking that's more than a human would be able to provide with one arm to an upward hatch while on a ladder in bulky clothing. Your conclusion therefore is that you are alone, and the recruit did not come this way.

Take 1 more strain for your servo joint which seems to be stiffer now after the power spike.

OOC:
In order to reach the comm tower in this storm you'll each need to make a couple of rolls. The first roll will be to make it the first 100 yards, the second roll will be to make it the rest of the way. Advantages can be used to assist your teammates that are struggling by giving 1 blue die per advantage, or recover 1 strain.

You may roll with any of the following skills (pick your highest)
-Coordination [AVE] add 1 setback due to the slippery icy snow
-Perception [EASY] add 1 setback die. (You're looking for "uphill" which is pretty easy to determine while walking, not looking for specific things)
-Resilience [AVE]
-Survival [EASY] (attempting to survive the next leg of the trip, should be easy given the suitable clothing and relative short length of the journey)

Wait for the entire party to roll on the first leg before starting the second

Bracing himself for the cold, Maldan begins climbing the unforgiving terrain. As an Iakaru, he is accustomed to climbing, but the road ahead is daunting even for his years of experience.

OOC:
Rolling coordination. Also, as an Iakaru, I gain a boost due to my Brachiation talent, since I am using Coordination to climb (for reference, it adds a boost to all Athletics and Coordination checks related to climbing, sqinging, and balancing.)

Rolls

Coordination

5 Success, 1 Advantage, 2 Threat

Total: 5 Success, 1 Threat

Tiny flicks on his Glow rod module, his ocular lens lighting up and projecting a bright beam ahead of him. He walks up at the back of the group, his height allowing the light to project over their heads to the ground ahead of the group.

It isnt much, but its enough to prevent anybody from slipping to their deaths.

Rolls

Perception - Walking the first 100 yards up this ridgeline

1 Success, 2 Advantage, 1 Threat

Also, out of curiosity, what planet are we on? or is it just an unnamed snow moon?

Your transport had no windows, and the crew weren't liberal with their information. You could try a core worlds check if you wanted, but the storm obscures the starry sky so it would be hard with 3 set back die.

Or you could wait to talk to someone inside in the morning.

"Don't worry guys, we call this a pleasant summer day back on Orto Plutonia. Follow my lead, a few hundred meters shouldn't be too challenging." Mo, full of confidence as he usually is, happily steps towards the front of the group and starts walking off in the direction his instincts tell him is the right direction.

Using his climbing gear to help string folks together so that no one can slip on the icy surface, Mo starts off uphill towards where the supposedly broken comm tower sits.

"Observation: We dont know who these people even are, and here we are, out in a snowstorm like a pack of blind tauntauns.

Tiny continues to scan the limited area of visibility with his rifle shouldered.

"Query: If we do find something out of place at the relay, how are we even supposed to let them know?"
Mar 13, 2019 11:46 pm
"I know who these people are," says David in a somewhat aggrieved voice. "They are what there is locally of the Rebel Armed Forces and none of you would be here if you didn't sign up for this. I'm here because I hated what I was becoming back in the core worlds: an Imperial yes man covering for idiots who couldn't control themselves. I wanted to be a surgeon. I am a surgeon. All they wanted from me is to lie about the people they stabbed in the back, literally, and stitch up their friends who got in over their heads. Let's get this over with." Armitage grabs a parka that looks like it might fit and shoves his feet into a pair of boots that turned out to be a size or two too large.

"Assessment: I was also imperial property. Che Mora helped by painting me blue. Perhaps you just need a new coat of paint"

Tiny says, pointing to an area on his shoulder where an imperial insignia was quite obviously scratched out with something sharp. He directs himself to Mo after speaking to the doctor.

"Query: Do we have more blue paint, captain?"
Mar 14, 2019 6:27 am
Laughing aloud at Tiny's response, Mo looks back over his shoulder towards the surgeon and flicks an appraising glance up and down his frame before saying, "I might be able to rustle up enough for the good doctor, and if we can't cover him head to toe, maybe just a few accent pieces will do it, yeah? And yeah, doc, we all know where we are and how we got here. I think that Tiny was saying that we don't know the actual number of people we may be facing, nor their reasons for sabotage, if that's what has happened."

Continuing to trudge up the slope, Mo continues to keep a cautious eye out, despite the nasty conditions. If it was him, depending on the state of the comm tower, he'd like have set an ambush up for there as it would allow better cover for the attackers while the repair crews struggled to make headway up the mountain. Shame they didn't know more about what this tower looked like or the lay of the land. But you can't always wait for perfect knowledge, he supposed.
Mar 14, 2019 8:48 pm
Maldan nods at his companions, cautiously looking around him. Climbing in these conditions were more difficult than he was used to, but he seemed to be handling himself well enough. His brows furrow as he gives a concerned look towards the direction he assumes the tower to lie in.

"I am all too familiar with Imperial tactics. If this is one of their incursions, or some other bit of trickery they have plotted, we will need to move beyond this treacherous terrain and onto firmer ground. If there is trouble ahead, we are far too vulnerable for my liking."
Mar 14, 2019 11:22 pm
Opening the door to the outside David turns to Tiny and says, "I really don't think anybody else heard what I said since they were all out here when I told that to you."
Mar 15, 2019 12:05 am
The Party continues the climb in the windy storm. Carving out a knee high trench in the fresh snow in the pitch darkness. Tiny's light beams into the distance, snow blows in to the beam and the light is reflected harshly.

The ridge line appears to be about 3 feet wide, very rounded and soft from all the snow. Each side descends into a dark stormy wind driven snow. You're making good time, and this trail should be sufficient to find your way back.

Do you want us to make our second set of checks or are we still waiting one someone to make the first check? For the second round, can we use the same skills you have, or are you gonna present us with a different list of skills with different difficulties?

OOC:
The Doc is lagging behind on his roll, but we won't wait. Currently the threat/advantage is totaling 1 advantage so we'll just start the second round of rolls. Same skills.

And, one more strain for the party as they climb the ridge in the thick snow and driving wind.

If you're not keeping track on your character sheets here are my totals for strain thus far including the most recent:

Armitage: 3/12
T1ny: 4/12
Mo: 3/12
Maldan: 3/11
