Other than what you posted for the game, what other rules do you have?
Apr 3, 2019 3:34 pm
Not any off the top of my head. Just make sure to have fun.

Not a problem!

Not familiar with Andor. Is there any source material you can point us to for more lore or is this a homebrew setting?
Apr 3, 2019 4:24 pm
Character submitted. Have basic stats and class abilities, still working on the rest but at least you can see an outline.

Out of curiosity, how detailed of a backstory do you want?
Apr 3, 2019 9:00 pm
The backstory should have enough detail to give me plot hooks for your character later, but beyond that as you see fit.

It's a home brew setting, but Andor I am stealing largely from the Wheel of Time series, it's my favorite nation from it.

Just got home after a long day, I have roughly an hour before ai have to head out. I’ll start working now.

Any maps available? For the purposes of origin and storytelling. Also any deities I should consider as a paladin?

Heck yeah! Wheel of Time is awesome. Glad to "meet" a fellow fan.

I was wondering if you would elaborate on the opening scenario? The kingdom just crossed the mountains. What does that mean exactly? Are we in frontier territory?

I have submitted Thandais Clangdon, gnome summoner. He makes his way in life as an entertainer, comedian specifically. He was always looking for a way to make it big, dabbling in a little bit of everything but guard duty. Physical conflict just isn't his forte.

His last venture involved he bought the contents of an abandoned apartment hoping to find some forgotten treasures. What he found was an ancient tome full of magic rituals. They text told the gnome he could summon and bind a creature from another realm to serve him.

Figuring that the book would be worth a few gold regardless, Thandais gathered the components for the ritual and picked a creature to summon. When the smoke cleared, literally, the wyvern like creature called Vahro stood there peering down at him. Their relationship is a bit strange. Thandais is in charge, Varho has to do as he says, but he is sarcastic and obstinate every step of the way.

At first Thandias was not happy with his purchase. He spent months trying to learn about what a Summoner could do to better control their servants, but made little progress. He told Varho he was just going to banish him and sell the book. The eidolon told him it would be a mistake. Varho claimed to have knowledge that would lead Thandias to a massive magical interplanar treasure. A treasure lost for ages and sought after by kings, warlords, even gods, of the outer realms. Enough gold to make him emperor of a thousand planes. And it was right here on this plane of existence...very nearby in fact.

So Thandias and his servant Varho seek the greatest treasure ever to exist.

I am still working on my portrait for Thandias, but you can visit the character sheet and follow the link at the bottom to see basically what Varho will look like. I chose the Avian eidolon template and paid to have it increased to Medium size and gave it a bite attack and natural armor. So I felt like almost a dragon with no front appendages was appropriate.

I’ve posted a start of my WIP character, I’ll work more after dinner and picking up my child. I think I got the points right for the stats. If I messed up just lemme know I should probably do the calculation before I add in racial bonuses.

I should have my fighter done by tomorrow. I'll submit him then.

How do you read this?

Mystic Past Life (Su): You can add spells from another spellcasting class to the spell list of your current spellcasting class. You add a number of spells equal to 1 + your spellcasting class’s key ability score bonus (Wisdom for clerics, and so on). The spells must be the same type (arcane or divine) as the spellcasting class you’re adding them to. For example, you could add divine power to your druid class spell list, but not to your wizard class spell list because divine power is a divine spell. These spells do not have to be spells you can cast as a 1st-level character. The number of spells granted by this ability is set at 1st level. Changes to your ability score do not change the number of spells gained. This racial trait replaces shards of the past.

So say that adds up to 4, could I pick 1 level 4 spell? Or 1 lvl 2 and 2 lvl 1? Or would it be 4 spells from the list regardless od level?

I'm sure you meant the GM specifically...but it says you can pick a number of spells equal to 1+spellcasting modifier. So if 1+Int mod is 4...you pick any 4 spells from one class list. You wouldn't be able to cast them until you got to the appropriate caster level...so multiclassing would slow your ability to cast them.

So a wizard taking a 5th level spell, would be able to cast it at 10th level. Splash one level of Fighter and you have to wait until 11th level when you are a fighter 1/wizard 10. All it does is add spells to you class list.

Not that this is a bad thing...you can get some really cool spells that way.

That’s what I was getting rereading it. What are we calling average HP’s for 1d8?

OOC:
Wrote this quickly last night while I was waiting for my kiddo to fall asleep.
Andariel had been a member of House Strada for as long as she could remember, longer to be honest. There were paintings in the halls showing some of her previous incarnations, a holy warrior with a great sword, a druid in green robes, a oracle holding a glowing ball of light and an assassin, her face barely visible from beneath a dark cloak. She’d begun her service as little more than a simple retainer but decades of faithful service had brought honours and rewards, titles, a gift of land, she’d given her life for House Strada more than once. There was something more to Andariel , something in her distant past that had been calling to her for a very long time.

A soft siren song that had been easy enough to ignore at first. It called her west, towards the mountains, towards something in her past and as the years had passed the song had grown louder, more irresistible. Lord and Lady Strada didn’t understand, couldn’t understand, they were humans the past didn’t call to them. The present, the future, these were things humans could see value in but Andariel was different, she was a Sarmaran and her past kept calling.

There had been a gala, a battle, and a fire, the Strada’s had perished, she had perished. A long copper coloured blade thrust through her back, a man in a long fanged crimson mask with burning eyes. He held her face in his blood soaked hands and smiled, looking deep into her eyes as he pushed a second copper blade through her heart and then darkness.

It was a long time before she awoke, usually it was days but when she finally dug her way out of the crypt and found her way home the ruins of the Strada estate was covered in vines and flowers. Two years had past according to the locals and the Strada were all gone, wiped out. There were rumours of a daughter, hiding in the west but nothing concrete. The killers had never been apprehended and the land was now controlled by the Bylaras family.

There was nothing left for Andariel there, her family, her honour were all gone and so she salvaged what she could from the ruins and headed west. Towards her past, towards the future. Perhaps the Strada daughter was there, perhaps there was some honour to be salvaged.

I read it as 4 spells regardless of level, but they come in as the level they are on the other list. Thus if you pick 4 level 6 spells, you still have to be able to cast level 6 spells to use them.

Yeah, I'll get you a map later today. As far as deities, you can use from Andor "The Light" (favored weapon: long-sword) or "The Wheel" (favored weapon: earth breaker), but there are other deities in this custom setting besides those. I'll list some later today.

Edit: The Light is neutral-good. The Wheel is true neutral.
Additional: The Dark One, Favored Weapon: Long-sword. Neutral Evil

The Steel Empire has just crossed the mountains, but two nations still lie between Andor and their armies. The opening scenario will be each character making their way to the capital, to be recruited. On arrival, they will meet when assigned to a specific military unit.
