Agent Creation

I'm thinking of a soldier that's either on leave or just leaving military service. Does he need to be connected with someone and/or something, or will it be the "right place at the right time" at the beginning?

I've started an Egyptian Antiquarian who is a native of Cairo with a degree in Egyptian studies at Cairo University who is currently an instructor of Egyptology at Brown University in Providence.

Luck roll will have to manually multiply by 5
Rolls
Luck (add multiplier of 5 manually) - (3d6)
(632) = 11

I'll go ahead and roll for luck now. I'll add the roll for my character after I determine his occupation.
OOC:
That's my fault, I thought everyone had to roll for luck. I'll post all of my attribute rolls in a different roll.Last edited April 9, 2019 11:26 pm

Luck (x5 manually) - (3d6)

What would you be rolling for your character? Everything else is a standard array or based off those numbers. Unless I've misread the GMs instructions.

Two ideas I'm mulling over are a dilletante who is an amateur detective, and a fake occultist/conman.

Nice, that'll work. In the player's guide it says to roll for each attribute, do you want me to post them here in one of the threads.
After looking through the occupations in the book, I figure either soldier or big game hunter will work.

Here we go...for character's attributes. Per the Investigator's handbook.
Rolls
Strength (x5 manually) - (3d6)
(124) = 7
Constitution (x5 manually) - (3d6)
(623) = 11
Size (x5 manually) - (2d6+6)
(11) + 6 = 8
Dexterity (x5 manually) - (3d6)
(545) = 14
Appearance (x5 manually) - (3d6)
(556) = 16
Intelligence (x5 manually) - (2d6+6)
(11) + 6 = 8
Power (x5 manually) - (3d6)
(145) = 10
Education (x5 manually) - (2d6+6)
(51) + 6 = 12
Luck (x5 manually) - (2d6+6)
(55) + 6 = 16

I'm setting his age between 20-39, so here is his chance for an education improvement.
Rolls
Education improvement - (1d100)
(37) = 37
Improvement points if successful - (1d10)
(3) = 3

I think I'd like to play a Doctor of Medicine that is looking into the ill-fated expedition. Maybe because a colleague of his was on the expedition and he wants to know what happened? Or maybe that colleague sent him a letter with some strange ramblings or something and he is looking into it because of that? He can be tied to the game story a different way, those are just what popped into my head while looking at the game description.

Can we use one of the alternative character creation methods mentioned in the book?

Is there a link to the creation rules. I have a couple of thoughts for my agent, a Russian ex-pat who fled the revolution after the Tzar and his family were murdered who runs an Occult service (Tarot card reading, seances that kind of thing.) Also the long suffering, often ignored, brilliant in her own right assistant of the egyptologist.
