Out of Character Chat

There's that other, more official super group in this world. The Defenders? So it doesn't seem feasible for us to have a base, etc. That would seem a little far fetched for us to somehow rival them at all. Unless we changed that too. JackJack said they wouldn't appear, so it would be easy to have them disappear. It might give our fledgling group a bit more purpose.

Most DC superhero groups have their own City anyway.

I like the idea of being newer, less established, but still with history together.

Yeah. Let's nix the idea of the Defenders, or at least of them being anywhere near enough to feasibly help. We can be just a start up group of super-powered freaks that have a little bit of history and a way of communicating with each other.

I presented the idea of The Pugnisher and Riptide seeking out other supes and doing a membership drive. There was an option of a base... eventually, and the Pugnisher has the know-how to rig up the tech needed for us to communicate. The first thing we could do is, assuming we all agree to be on the team, is RP the first meetup. and then talk about the established group, present our power sets and discuss tactics for moving, etc. and a base. 1 point each would create a pretty workable base, which at this point the GM would gladly donate I'm sure ;)

Darkhound would have to join if asked by The Pugnisher, her dogs would not let her pass up the chance.

I'm not sure if the team needs a public face or not. If you all think it does, then I'm wondering if I should use Jeffrey in that role or his alter ego, Captain Mystical. I don't watch superhero movies or read comix anymore so I don't know if everyone is thinking that the bad guys are organized and are political or if it's still old school, one bad guy and his minions. From the way this game started I'm thinking the former. That would support the argument that we also need to be a lot more organized. I'm a little leery about having one or two members going around recruiting with all that entails. I think we need to know a lot more about each other before we sort out the full organization. More later.

Well, from pug and strum's idea, we wouldn't be a full fledged team or organization yet. We'd basically be having our first meet. Feeling each other out, deciding if we wanna work together. I think it's meaty enough to start with that if we're all agreed.

The membership drive could be like an origin story of sorts for the group, then we could flash forward to where we're organized with a base and stuff. Catching each other up about our powers, etc. out-of-character.

That could work. I think we might be making it too complicated. We just need to decide what our backstory ties are and run with it. We are the authors of our characters. Their past is whatever we decide it is. It's not something we have to develop through play. What we should be developing through play is the current adventure. I'm good to go with whatever will get us together and moving.

Also. Surfside and pugisher? I see all 3 of us as easy-going weed buddies, where we all get baked in a n empty junk bath tub on a roof top with a view.

It's Riptide, but I totally have that tub! 7 foot long clawfoot! It's big enough for a double date! I live in a half buried volkwagen camper under a dock. I'm actually destitute but have a couple decent contacts for "party favors". I'm also good for a no-strings hookup if you're flexible, it's too bad you're "lebanese" :P

HAaha, Clay is pretty plain so he can fit in wherever needed, like legit vanilla so im moldable to fit with the group however you want, I could be that 1 mutual friend that majority of us hooked up thru.

"You know clay too! we went for a hike to a secluded beach up the way a few days ago" etc..

Resonance could easily have had an affair with Blinker, or we could include it in the "to do" pile to add some flirty tension between them.

She's actually bi, but won't admit it to anyone, especially not herself. As Resonance she has probably flirted with everyone, possibly more. She even flirts with the Pugster, just because. Feel free to suggest any kind of "party fun time" connections to her you want, but keep in mind - it's only in costume. She won't anyone see her without the mask. Kinky? Maybe.

One day she'll have to reconcile the two sides of her personality. Hopefully at some point during the story, because that kind of thing is always fun. Maybe one of the characters could be the one she "falls for" that makes her finally come out to her parents.

Im really enjoying the way the team is forming, I will admit I am probably thinking that problems when they arise will not call for the whole team (after all one villain 8 heroes, not much of a fight usually) so if you all are okay with it, often there may be 1-4 players asked to deal with a problem. The way I'm leaning is that a form of some sort of alert comes on the Base main screen, and then in real time you have 24 hours to say if you respond after the call. If not it is my goal for casual adventures/roleplay to also take up time.

Sounds like a plan. You pick the heroes you want for whatever starter thing you'rr after and I'll take over team b/whomever is left over.

Do you have a vision of how they might interact and feel fully engaged as a team rather than being just team a and team b? Some sort of way to mix them together?

For this I am drawing inspiration from the Justice League where individual heroes may go on their own adventures may could also interchangeably work with others.

For CaveJohnson I have made Sadrielle Co-GM and plan and working them into taking a more active role perhaps in going forward.
