Feel free. This will be, basically, a straight swap, so it would be as if you had been with the party all along.

*Sigh*

Elveron has not responded (nor even read) my PM to him, so I don't know if he is coming back. I'm running his combat for now, but I may be (again) soliciting a new player.

Any word from roleplayer60 9Fenlys)? He has not posted to our thread since the 16th so at first I though the comments above were about him.

No, I'll send a message to him as well... :/

I have remove Elveron (Eldrog) from the game and have solicited for a replacement.

I'm starting to feel a bit self conscious about the fact that players keep dropping out shortly after their characters join up with Mercival!

Haha! I thought it was my shitty DM style... :/

I had a guy quit a game because of my PC once.

I'm in a game where I started off playing a super arrogant, completely obnoxious bard named Rico Suave. He was a human variant with the Magic Initiate: Cleric feat, so he could use Thaumaturgy to amplify his voice, and the Noble variant (retainers) background, so he could have his party posse. The dwarf was pretty hostile toward him, which I thought was amusing. Until I began to realize it wasn't roleplaying, but the player himself. He went quiet in the middle of a battle after shoving Rico and walking away. He never came back.

I might have felt bad except that I had discussed my character concept with everyone before hand, which included another player and I setting up a rivalry between our two bards. When the bard got killed, all the players said pretty much the same thing, "My PC hated Rico's guts, but I loved him!"

It had been a long time since I tried PbP (at least 10+ years) and although everyone here has been awesome, I just don't think I'm patient enough for this style of play and I don't want to drag everyone else down. I'm afraid I'm going to have to call it quits.

Have fun everyone!

Ok, thanks Neuro!

Hello all,

I'm sorry, but for whatever reason (probably my desire to give you all a personalized opening) this game has just not taken off like I thought that it would. Players have been dropping way too often to be able to form any kind of a cohesive group, and now our Bard (Mercival) has gone dark with (from what I am told) real life issues.

I can't keep recruiting new players only to have someone else drop, and it isn't fair to those who have been trying to keep their hopes up.

So, I am going to be shutting down the game. I might revisit it down the road, but until then, I am sincerely sorry to those who have just joined. I'll wait until you all reply before closing up shop, but again, I'm really sorry. Hopefully this one bad experience will not keep you from looking into any other games I may run in the future.

Can't you accelerate or hand wave some of the in-between action? As a group, we can just sort of narrate how we all meet up in Saltmarsh (we're almost there as it is) and start the main part of the module. While I expressed my frustration that I've been running solo in my own narrative as other players dropped away, it would be even more frustrating to have the last three months of gameplay be for nothing. I'd much rather have even a jarring narrative leap in time and action in order to start the module proper and to not have spent three months on what amounts to an incomplete solo adventure.

Honestly, I've really enjoyed your DMing. If I hadn't, I would have spoken up earlier. It was only the most recent players dropping out that prompted me to say anything. I think what you had in mind as a way to solidify PC's backstories was a great idea. I try to do it myself in my RL game. Most modules have very weak openings that do little to give the characters motivation to band together or to continue on the dangerous mission presented to them. Unfortunately, the slow pace of PbP makes it difficult to keep that initial excitement of a new game moving.

Anyway, I sincerely hope you reconsider your decision to shutter the game. I have definitely enjoyed myself and would much rather restart in Saltmarsh with a narrative leap than have another promising game go dark.

That sucks, I really liked this character and thought he had good potential.

Yeah, I agree. All of the characters had great potential.

@McDunno - yeah, I could, but we are back down to 3 PCs, and I would have to recruit yet again. I'm just over having to bring in a new player almost every week. It's gotten to be pretty disheartening.

As for waving the hand and getting you to Saltmarsh, I was trying to do that without too much 'poofing' you all to your destination. :)

Well, I'm certainly disappointed, but I can understand your frustration. I hope you'll keep me in mind if you start up another game or if you have anyone drop out of a current game.
