Zenithral looks around blearily and shakes his head with a sorry smile. "I'm not sure I have much left in me for this...Seems a good a day to die as any, though." He closes his eyes and breaths in, his hair illuminating as he does.
(Healing Hands. Zenithral regains 15 HP)

When he opens his eyes, he notices Kaylessa’s longbow and raises an eyebrow. "Or maybe a great day to die."

Strumming the magic longbow like an instrument and it begins to glow softly. Zenithral narrows his eyes and sets his mind racing. "Let's dance, shall we?"

Zenithral can immediately feel the difference with the magical bow, the frame flexing so easily and almost adjusting itself to guide his aim. Two arrows plant themselves in the head of one of the berzerkers, sending the warrior tumbling to the ground and a third, devastating shot to the other in the chest.
(Berserker 1 takes lethal damage. Berserker 2 takes 21 damage.

"Come on!" Zenithral wastes no time, running behind the cover of the inn's wreckage and crouching down to avoid incoming missiles.
OOC:
He moves away, so he's more than 60 feet away now, plus behind cover of some kind: 1/2 cover, 3/4 cover, or total cover depending on what's available. If not total cover, then Zenithral also drops prone.

Ilmadia raises her eyebrows upon looking the bow over properly for the first time. "Mind you don't let your grandfather see that. He'll go out 'scouting' so long you'll never see him again."

Raising a hand to her mouth, Ilmadia kisses her palm and blows it out to the berzerker. Fire jumps into life between her lips and her hand and is sent on its way, following Zenithral's arrow right into the barbarian's chest.

Sparing time for a grin, she follows Zenithral's lead and tucks herself into place beside him.

Doing a backflip off Aeri's back, Vincent lands lightly on the ground. Seeing the groups of giants poised against him Vincent's sword glows with a sickening light. Pulling it from the blade and forming it into a ball, Vincent lobs it over the first group and into the middle of the back group of 3.

Addressing the barbarians, "Stay clear of the light in back it will hurt any who enter it. Come lads, to glory!"

Running forward Vincent lines up against Giant 4 and engages.

Vincent casts sickening radiance on giants 5/6/7 DC16 CON save or 24 radiant damage (hopefully hits all 3 with a 30ft radius). Then curses G4.

Zenithral’s arrows hit hard, but these barbarians are tough. And fast. The first berserker finally dies with three arrows in his chest a few feet away from where Zenithral and Ilmadia take cover behind some wreckage. The second comes barreling through Ilmadia’s fire spell to tackle Zenithral and hold him fast.
OOC:
The two berserkers have 40 ft speed, and dash as a bonus action while raging. They had resistance to weapon damage, but I counted Zen’s crit as doing full damage. Still took three arrows to bring B1 down though. The grapple check below was actually for B2, obviously. No need for Zen or Ilmadia to be prone.
The other four barbarians sprint as far as they can, raising spears high to throw.
OOC:
These guys take the Dash action and only move a total of 60 feet.

Arrows fly into his drawing hand and he knocks and fires all three into the berserker's chest with a burst of radiance. (After resistance, Berserker 2 takes lethal damage.)

Zenithral continues to circle the ruins of the inn, trying to still keep his distance from the spearmen and maintain cover for when they round the bend.

More battlecries come from a side street and a dozen more tribesmen round a corner. They run past Zenithral and Ilmadia, however, and move to engage the remaining spearmen, who are joined in turn by more warriors from the tower.

A woman breaks off from the battle and approaches the two half-elves. It is Tansia, Chief of the Tribe of the Elk. She leans on her spear, though she seems more exerted than wounded. "Killing our brothers... I had hoped to avoid this. But that tower plays tricks with your mind if you are around it too long, and many of my people are swayed to do evil." She shakes her head sadly. "We heard the dragon’s cry, and with the Chief of Chiefs elsewhere I made the call to attack. I hope that any of my people will be left standing after-"

"No need to wonder, small folk."

From the directions that Zenithral and Ilmadia we’re headed around the inn, a frost giant walks with heavy boots. Joril Frostbeard, the chief of this clan of frost giants, holds his enormous axe easily at his side. His common is heavily accented, but understandable. "Only the strongest will stand after today. And that will never be you."

One kick of his foot sends a large piece of debris tumbling towards the trio, then charges forward with a bloodthirsty bellow.

Ilmadia barely dodged the boulder. As she staggers back she sees Zenithral in all his radiance, and her eyes go wide. She has seen him like this before, but he strikes a very different picture soaring into the dawn, shining hair floating about him, than he did in the cave as they suffered on their knees.

Her own eyes flicker suddenly, and her mouth does too as she grimaces and holds her middle. She seems to hold it back as she mutters something under her breath and turns to face the giant.

"Stop! As lovely as it is to see you again, Joril, I think we should part ways as soon as possible." She waves her hand in the air, and a crystal bearing likeness to Crenshinibon- pulsing ominously- glints in the light. "A gift from Belhifet before I left him behind. I'll blow us all to the Hells if you don't stand down, Joril." Ilmadia's eyes and mouth flicker again and she grimaces. "You know me. You know I will."

Round 1 Summary

The battle is joined in full as men and monsters grunt and sweat as they work their weapons. Spells and boulders fly, cries of pain and encouragement ring out, and blood flows.

Tribesmen rally around Reothadh as he closes with the nearer group of frost giants. Just as Reothadh’s thunderous axe strikes true, so do those of the men who have just recently come under the old dwarf’s command. But these are frost giants, and every bit of grit the barbarians of Icewind Dale claim, the giants of the icy peaks of the Spine of the World claim more. One of the tribesmen dies as an axe twice his size cleaves him in half, and one of the giants stomps solidly down Reothadh, dealing him a blow that would have crushed any regular opponent (Reo takes 61 damage).

However, Reothadh proves once again today, as he did centuries ago when his story began, that he is no regular opponent.

Some residual giantish magic lingers with the ancient sorcerer, and even as the boot comes down from on high, he grows in height – just for a moment. The giant is caught off balance by the sudden size of his opponent and topples to the ground with a heavy thump made all the louder for Reothadh’s thunder wards (G1 is knocked prone and takes the movement damage from Booming Blade). The tribesmen swarm over the fallen giant, weapons digging deep (G1 takes 78 damage).

Meanwhile, the newcomers to this fight are fresh and ready. Vincent’s conjured light over the second group of giants sears them, but only one succumbs to the radiant sickness (G6 failed the save and takes full, the other two take half). The nearer giant that Vincent picks out for his curse jerks in surprise as its own blue skin turns a dull grey – its first indication that it will not be long for this world.

For all the fighting happening around them, it is Aerihykloarara and Ras who dominate this fight. The trio of rock-throwing giants cannot hope to avoid the powerful druid’s lightning strike (all three fail), and it softens them up just in time for the silver dragon herself to plow into them, Ras seated on her back. One of the giants staggers under Aerihykloarara’s charge, and she digs in with tooth and claw (G5 takes 44 damage). The other two, rocks already in hand, heave them point blank into the dragon’s side, shattering scales and bruising flesh (Aeri takes 62 damage). She cries out in pain and whirls in a circle, battering all three giants to the ground (G5-7 each take 15 damage and are knocked prone), and inadvertently tossing Ras off to one side (Ras is on the ground between the two groups of giants). Then with a beat of her wings she takes to the air and lets out a challenging, terrifying roar, letting all her enemies know that death is at hand (Due to Terrifying Presence, all the giants are frightened except 4 and 7).

Joril blinks and raises a thick blue hand to his eyes as Zenithral’s form lights up.

He pauses longer when he hears the challenging roar of a dragon echo out over the frozen town
(Joril is frightened and loses his rage).

And he takes a step back when Ilmadia holds up the image of Crenshinibon.

And then he falls backwards when a triceratops comes out of nowhere to gore him in the side
(Joril takes 26 damage and is knocked prone).

The triceratops snorts angrily and raises a heavy foot to stomp down on Joril’s chest (Joril takes 20 damage). The frost giant chief gasps in pain, then shoves the enormous lizard away. Bleeding and rasping, he tries to crawl away from the beast, and it rams him once more on his bottom to send him on his way (Joril takes 17 more damage from an opportunity attack).

With Joril having retreated, the triceratops turns to regard Zenithral. It huffs again, then blinks slowly, obviously calming down. Its sides and face are covered in wounds, as though it passed through many difficult obstacles - and some of them quite solid - on its way here.
