OOC:
That sounds fine with me, Heyop will mostly just guard the charges.

Dagger finds himself at the Wallowing Wookie (where every drink causes your to roar with surprise!) and slides into a spot at the bar. The 'tender asks, "What will it be?"

Back on the ship -- everything is quiet. Or mostly quiet anyway.

I look to the barkeep and say, Give me a pan galactic gargleblaster, but then wave away the order when the bartender doesn't seem to recognize the drink. Just give me something good, I say instead.

Say, I add, Do you happen to know of any good scenic areas around here. Thinking of taking a lady out somewhere romantic. The more remote the better, if you catch my meaning, I say to the bartender, winking.

The bartender is confused for a bit, and then concocts something that is fruity and bitter with enough of an alcoholic punch to be respectable. It's passed over to Dagger with a smile. "What? Scenic? Man this planet is crawling with scenery. There's the slopes of Mount Vissa which gives some great views of the Umber Jungles, there's some persistent whirlpools of the Strangling Sea -- but not like you'd look at those up close..."

He taps the bar absentmindedly with a coaster, "But, if you're look for quiet and safe-enough, there's lots of options. Just rent a speeder and head out of the city some way, you'll see some beautiful countryside and it's probably going to be quiet one way or the other. Won't even take too long."

...meanwhile, as Dagger interacts with the helpful bartender a couple of guys show up at the Kirtan Strider. They're dressed in suits and look a little like some kind of local missionary or something. "Hello!" They call up the ramp, "We're with Imperial Customs and would like to speak to the captain of the vessel please."
OOC:
Normally this would be Kaveri - but since I'm driving her as an NPC, I'd prefer someone else pick up...
Jul 11, 2016 1:44 pm
I suppose I'm close enough... What can I do for you?
Jul 11, 2016 2:18 pm
"Ah, excellent. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Captain." the taller of the two smiles insincerely. "Can you tell me your purpose here, please?"
Jul 11, 2016 3:20 pm
well, we stopped here because our main hyperdrive went out and this was the nearest system. we figured we'd also pick up some supplies and get some much needed sun while we're here. Is there a problem, sir?

as he's talking, Mal is making sure that Ulrik stays out of sight for the time being. if the kid was going to be a wild card, at least Mal could use him if things go south
Jul 11, 2016 4:49 pm
"Interesting. A hyperdrive malfunction. That seems odd. What happened?" The tone is conversational, but he's clearly fishing.
Jul 11, 2016 9:01 pm
mal shrugs I'm not the mechanic
Jul 11, 2016 9:52 pm
Hearing the conversation between Mal and the others Csillag will poke her head around to see who he is talking to. Trouble?
Jul 11, 2016 10:08 pm
look, no offence, I just don't see why Imperial customs is so curious about my hyperdrive. My fault really for trusting that sleemo Toydarian I suppose....

Hopefully Scillag got the hint and stays unseen Thinks Mal
Jul 12, 2016 12:00 am
"Well, truth be told, hyperdrive failures are uncommon among reputable shippers. A G9 with as many years as this one, still has a very reliable service history. So, you can imagine, it makes one wonder about your reputability. Perhaps you're merchants for an organization that, I don't know, opposes Imperial ideals."

Csillag sees Mal talking to a couple of suits and can easily hear his raised comment about Imperial customs.
Jul 12, 2016 1:38 pm
Mal takes a breath, trying to keep anger out of his voice.

Accidents happen, sir. You're not going to fault me for a freak accident, are you? A coupling got severed and we needed to stop and fix it.
Jul 12, 2016 4:57 pm
"Accidents? What accident?" the man inquires.

Out of the corner of his eye, Mal's able to see a couple more folks walking quickly towards the Strider. They're in some kind of uniform, but it is obviously not Imperial.
Jul 12, 2016 5:00 pm
Kriff, man! my kid was screwing around with a plasma cutter and severed a line! It's embarrassing, ok?
Jul 15, 2016 10:03 pm
The tall one in the suit -- the one who has been talking most raises his hand and opens his mouth to speak, but he's cut off by one of the locals in uniform. "Hello there Balun!" he says, his hand reaches out and he turns the imperials towards him and away from the ship (and Mal). "What's that then? So kind of you to come and check in on our docking pad..."

The other local gets in front of Mal and says quietly, "Sorry -- those two are particularly inept at their job, and we'd prefer that their skill didn't create problems at our spaceport."
Jul 16, 2016 5:04 am
Mal nods sympathetically. I'm sure you two are more than capable. Now, are we all done here?
Jul 17, 2016 3:02 pm
"Sure thing," the officer answers. "Unless, uh, we can do something for you?"

Mal can tell that the officer would like to spend more time chatting. But he's not quite sure what. The guy seems a little nervous.
Jul 18, 2016 1:47 pm
Maybe you can help.. Mal goes on to list everything that he needs to make solid repairs that he hasn't seen on the shit and asks where he could get those parts cheap
