Jul 25, 2019 1:55 pm
As the beam of energy forms at Laura's fingertips the ogre lifts his hand to protect and shield the bird. The energy blasts right between his fingers and hits the bird, head on. For a moment it seems a ghastly symbol of Din Napisti is burned into the bird before the energy envelops it. After a moment, there is nothing left of the bird, but a few feathers gently drifting to the ground.
The ogre stumbles back for a second, seeming more vulnerable than before. Barrot rushes in, blades flashing.

The ogre, now in very bad shape, takes another desperate swing at Barrot, but seems to be very off-kilter without his bird to guide him.
His swing goes wildly off to the side, a few inches from Barrot's ready defense.

Rolls

Attack - (1d20+4)

(11) + 4 = 15

Damage - (1d8)

(8) = 8

Jul 28, 2019 1:23 am
The ray of frost blasts into the ogre knocking it backward. Its eyes come into focus for a moment and its voice comes out in a barely audible whisper Free. Finally free and with that the breath goes out of him and he falls to the ground with a crash.

This job is getting harder and harder. Now there is a caster in the mess too. Lets get moving out of here in case there are other surprises for us. She goes of the check on the others.
Jul 28, 2019 1:52 am
Barrot inspects his wounds breathing raggedly. I'm pretty badly injured. Not sure here is the best place for it, but I could use a rest.
Jul 28, 2019 4:39 am
"What tragedy befell such a creature. May Din Napisti carry you back home." Trissire feels remorse over the encounter, but at least it sounds like the ogre has found peace. "If you are suffering Barrot, I can ease your burden."
OOC:
Not sure how much I should worry about Barrot from a gameplay standpoint but in character Trissrie would want to heal him.
Jul 28, 2019 6:46 am
This is most distressing. Cinaed walks over to the ogre's body and begins to examine it. Looking for any clues as to what may have caused the ogre's unnatural behavior. He moves his hands over the body, searching for any kind of trinket or sign that could have been pushing it along, while stretching his magical senses over the body, for anything.Perhaps if we can understand what caused this we can be better prepared in case we run across another one.
OOC:
Cinead does an arcana check, looking for any magic he can disern on the ogre's body. Also a perception check for anything phycial that can be found.

Rolls

Arcana Check - (1d20+4)

(19) + 4 = 23

Perception - (1d20+4)

(16) + 4 = 20

Jul 28, 2019 10:37 am
Laura takes a deep breath in and says By the star, let there be life. it is follow by a strange word that does make sense. A moment later Barrot feels his wounds healing some. Lingering here may not be good for us. Laura does seem to be in a hurry for some strange reason. And Barrot just found out she can heal wounds.

Rolls

Healing Word - (1d4+3)

(1) + 3 = 4

Jul 28, 2019 5:51 pm
Cinaed- Looking over the ogre's body you see quite a number of scars and tattoos covering its flesh, but what catches your attention is a singular tattoo of a flame on the back of its neck. Whereas the other tattoos are a blueish tinge, this one is so black it almost hurts your eyes to look at. As you stare at it however, the black color seems to fade and after just a few moments, it is the same color as the other tattoos on the creature's body. Trying to piece together the clues, it seems the creature was not acting of its own accord, and for some reason became blinded when the hawk was blown to smithereens.

Barrot brusquely thanks Laura and starts to look around a bit. There are definitely pretty obvious footprints left behind by the ogre. We may be able to trace those back to its origin, unless we want to turn back to the road and continue on to Juniper village.
OOC:
I'm going to keep barrot's character with the party for now (even though I don't think blacknightrising is coming back at this point) just to give a little more of a hitpoint shield to the group and because he was included in the summons issued to Laura. We'll see what happens when you reach Ilan Ketur. He's just under half his max hp right now.
Jul 28, 2019 7:11 pm
We should make haste to the village. There. We can rest and recover.
OOC:
Yeah had to roll min for the heal.
Jul 28, 2019 11:02 pm
"Trouble prevails across this realm... hopefully someone in the village has beheld these machinations. We may invite danger by carelessly charging forward."
OOC:
Aye. We have a notable lack of front line offense.
Jul 29, 2019 2:27 am
There is definitely something going on. This monster was not under his own volition. There was a strange tattoo on his body, one that changed colors as the last of his life force left him. I have never seen anything like it. Looks like I will need to do some research as I can. Give me a moment to copy this in case the design means something. Cinead pulls out a small notebook and begins drawing the tattoo design. He foes it quickly, not wanting to waste time. Once he is done he looks over the bird quickly in case it has similar markings.
OOC:
Cinead does a quick arcana check on the bird, looking for a similar tattoo design.

Rolls

Arcana - (1d20+4)

(13) + 4 = 17

Jul 29, 2019 2:33 am
Laura smiles, We aren't in that much of a hurry. Go ahead and get what you need. She waits till he is done before continuing on.
Jul 29, 2019 7:20 am
Strangely, there is nothing left of the bird. You'd been pretty sure that there were at least some feathers left when it was initially destroyed. Thinking through your arcane knowledge, it occurs to you that if the bird were actually a fey or demonic spirit given form through the "find familiar" spell, it would have behaved similarly.
