Ps. I'm not sure about the Valenor, but according to the 5e book elves meditate instead of sleep, but they can still dream. I imagine that is part of how they commune with their ancestor spirits.

You are correct, Valenor elves do meditate to "sleep", though not the same way we humans sleep.

Hello, all. Excited to join, though this will be my first romp in Eberron. I am thinking of playing a halfling cleric (healer). Thoughts?

Welcome! The beauty of Eberron is that it's both unique as a setting but familiar at the same time. You'll get a basic grasp for it in no time. All you really need to know is there was a big war that made half the continent go boom, so what was left of the warring kingdoms stopped fighting openly (OPENLY) and now adventurers go... adventure. Oh, and there's dragonmarks and weird crystals and airships. Yay!

Halfling healer screams House Jorasco, the Dragonmarked Halfling House of Healing. Work for them, you got to make a living out of your vocation, and very powerful friends. You don't have to be dragonmarked yourself (but you could).
Second, Halflings from the Talenta Plains have some cool lore in that they ride dinosaurs. No, that is not a mistake. No, that is not silly. It is awesome. Go look up the pictures. Halflings riding dinosaurs. Being badass badasses instead of hairy-feeted layabouts. Amazing.
You want to be in the halfling healing mob whilst being a conan-wannabe halfling riding a dinosaur? Eberron has got you covered.

Deities are really meh in Eberron though. You could just worship the Sovereign Host and be part of the mainstream religion. The Silver Flame is more your rabid witch-hunting church. Did some really bad things in the past in the name of goodness. Always handy when you can point at someone you don't like and call them evil and have your rabid followers murderstabburn said nuisance. A little genocide and all that. They never said sorry. There are a few other religions. They get weirder.

Quick character build question: what is our starting level?

For the new guys, I'm an elven artificer. And this elf variety likes to ride horses and waging war on whatever inferior race crosses their path. Breed the best horses though!

I'm sorry, but work had been crazy, with 10+ hour days, meeting and deadlines all week. It's a cool prologue, and my goal is to write a proper response no later than Sunday
