Tenoch is a young male Ixalan from the outskirts of the Empire of the Sun. He keeps the sides of his head shaved sporting a long black mohawk. He wears a simple indigo blue robe tied with a white sash. He has dark brown skin and brown eyes and is clean shaven. He wears plain rope sandals and carries a woven cloth satchel with all of his worldly possessions. He is armed with a simple spear and his fists, elbows, knees, and feet.
He grew up in a poor fishing village, but from a very young age, his destitute parents left him in the care of a monastery situated inland and on the top of a steep hill overlooking the countryside.
Tenoch grew up under the care and guidance of the monks, learning the way of the ki and the discipline of the fist.
He took on the lessons of humility, kindness, and order that the monastery elders espoused.
One fateful day, Tenoch was tasked with visiting the fishing village to collect alms for the monks, and to teach the young children of the village the beginnings of their ki training. The corrupt tax collector was in town with two of his thugs, shaking down the desperately poor villagers. Tenoch tried to mind his own business, but when the thugs put their attention on the daughter of a fisherman, he stood up to the bullies. In a quick succession of kicks and punches, Tenoch beat the thugs into submission and boldly told the tax collector to leave without his taxes.
The villagers hailed Tenoch as a hero, but quickly spirited the young monk out of the village on a fishing boat to protect him from the reprisals of the Empire. As fortune would have it, the fishing ship was captured that very night by the pirate ship Embargo, where he has been kept as a slave ever since.
