"You tell me to leave?" Baphomet laughs, slamming his axe into the wall and shaking dust and debris from the walls and ceiling, "Do you wish to die so soon?"

Elayne looks around for feathers, but doesn't see any on the ground. Not far past the demon lord is another turn in the tunnel where they may be.

Elayna instinctively takes a step backward. She strains her eyes to the far turn in the tunnel, trying to focus on a destination rather than the daemonic presence before her.

Mai'ngor paces back and forth, brandishing his blades, muttering a prayer to his ancestors in preparation for the War Dance.

Spirits of wind, make swift my hooves,
Lords of lightning, make mighty my arm,
Spirits of the great balete tree, make stalwart my heart,
Bathala, sky-father, grant me an honorable death.

What is your game, Pit Lord? Why waste time on mortals like us, here and now? Your plans must be greater, leave us be and pursue your ambition!

Seftan takes great pains not to meet the creature's gaze...

"Ah, but there are so few toys left to play with in this maze," he says in his rumbling voice, "So I shall enjoy playing while I have you in my domain. Now, why have you come here?"
Apr 3, 2020 3:59 pm
"Just passing through?" Elayna replies, though it is difficult to be certain herself in the presence of Baphomet. Every fiber of her body is screaming to flee.

Spread out, Seftan whispers to his companions,

As I said our business is our own, and we will play no part in your sick game! Do not let your hubris get the better of you, leave this place now and keep your time on this plane!

Seftan makes his way back from the demon, slowly, step by step.

"Keep it talking, Rylleth," Ælfric thought as he edged along closer to the demon lord, his faith still shaky in his decades-honed infiltration skill standing up to the gaze of Baphomet. "If I can just get past it..."

OOC:
Aelfric, roll me stealth!

Here we go!

It's a tense moment, but Aelfric manages to stealthily move past Baphomet and is nearing the next tunnel.
Apr 11, 2020 2:15 am
Ælfric did his best to focus past the terror as he moved past the demon lord.

"Thank you, Erevan Ilesere," he thought.

He scanned the way ahead looking both for potential hazards both mundane and magical as well as the angelic statues.
OOC:
With Reliable Talent, that's 19 for Perception and 20 for Arcana.

Elayna gives a bit of space between herself and Seftan, as requested. Her legs are wobbly, and her steps are loud against the floor.
Apr 15, 2020 2:32 am
Baphomet takes a couple of steps forward, clearing twenty feet in the blink of an eye. A smile crosses his bull-like face and he smacks his axe on the ground, "Now, little wizard," he says to Seftan, "What makes you so brave? Do you really think that you could harm me in any meaningful way?"

Aelfric continues moving and doesn't spot any danger in the immediate area. Creeping up the the next tunnel, he peers around and sees a large chamber ahead. The ceiling arches sixty feet overhead, bristling with stalactites that drip water onto stalagmites rising from the uneven and broken floor. Here and there between the stalagmites, several statues of winged humanoids are set in poses of suffering and anguish. Some cover their faces, while others claw at them. Others reach toward the ceiling, their faces twisted into expressions of longing.

"Poor bastards," Ælfric thought as he edged closer. Without getting too close to them, he chose six feathers from six different angels to start, placing the six into a pouch using his distant and invisible mage hand. Then he plucked six more feathers from another six different angels to be placed in another pouch, supposing his task didn't require him having to go too far into the chamber of petrified celestials.

Ever the watchful and weary thief, Ælfric looked around the chamber for anything dangerous... or shiny.

Rolls

Perception - (1d20+9)

(20) + 9 = 29

Arcana - (1d20+10)

(12) + 10 = 22

Aelfric doesn't have any trouble collecting the feathers he needs and takes a moment to peer around for danger or treasure. He's just about to give it up for lost when he sees a small crack in the wall with something wedged inside of it, but he can't tell what it is from here.
OOC:
Hallway is waiting for a response from Seftan or any of the others :)

"Bravery is something we all have," says Elayna, shirking from any attention by the giant fiend. "It is what make us unique. Whole."

What are we doing?! she thinks to herself.
Apr 15, 2020 6:41 pm
Ælfric went a bit closer to determine what it was and if he should use his mage hand to remove it from the wall.
Apr 17, 2020 3:50 am
I know you cannot be destroyed here, I envy your power but we will not be denied. Whatever your business on this plane, it does not concern us. Attend your affairs elsewhere!

Seftan stands his ground against the approaching demon but holds his staff out before him.
Apr 20, 2020 10:51 pm
As Aelfric moves closer to the wall, he sees that the object stuck in the crack appears to be the hilt of a sword. It may be wedged in too tightly for him to pull it out with his Mage Hand.

Baphomet chuckles, "I can smell your fear, girl. You are brave to stand before me like you are, weak and fragile," he says, taking another step forward, "I respect your bravery and so I will allow you to leave with your lives. Go. Now. Before I change my mind."
