Obvious character creation thread.
Available resources
You might use anything from the Player Handbook (PHB) or the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide (SCAG). You may also include spells from the Elemental Evil (EE), but need my approval for those.
I'd prefer you to stick to those books, but if a character option from another official published book would allow you to come up with an awesome concept, ask me: I'll take a look and let you know if I open this option.
I will use some optional rules from the Dungeon Master Guide (DMG) as I see fit. Iām open to reskinning things after approval, and might allow some spells customization as per the spell design guidelines (and damage type tiers).
And if you get your hands on magical items, they will be handcrafted with love by your GM :)
Creating your character
Create a character at level 5 using any available resource (see above). Make sure to check out the Houserules threat as it contains variant rules that will affect everyone's game, and may alter a class or subclass you want to play. It even adds classes!
The human variant is available.
For your characteristics, use the buy point or the standard array only.
For starting equipment, we'll follow the DMG p.38 guideline: you'll start with 500 gp plus 1d10 x 25 gp, plus normal starting equipment. You may spend them as you see fit, but the only magical items available are the consumables ones (scrolls, potions etc). Reference prices and availability are right here : as members of the Oak Shield you have access to everything's on the Catalog, at Cheap price if you get them as part of your service equipement. Permanent magical items are out of your league for now.
As members of the Oak Shield, you all have a Military Rank and a Specialty as described in the Soldier background. Just make sure that one (and only one) of you is an Officer.
