Special characters in Custom Character Sheets

I'm getting special characters in a couple of my custom character sheets. When these appeared I went in and cleaned up the text, and when I saved the sheets they were fine. But the next time I made some minor edits when I saved them the symbols were there again.

So they're characters you're not adding yourself, but are showing up? Are you copying the text from notepad or an external editor?

I swear special characters are gonna kill me...

As a matter of fact, yes. I can't remember which is which, but at least one of those were copy-pasted from Notepad, and the rest from Google Docs. That's at character sheet creation. But after successfully cleaning it up and saving the clean version months ago, they showed up again today after making GP only edits without using anything external.

It's possible there was a hidden special character that got converted into multiple characters in my translation/saving process, so it's "still there". I'll have to completely rethink how I save special characters.

So that could be formatting or some other artifact from the source document? I'm not surprised a Google document would cause problems but a plain text file from Notepad doing the same thing is surprising.

That's true, Notepad should be fine; if we said Notepad++ or something like that, maybe, but I have seen Notepad do funny things on rare occasion.

I'm having same problem with my character in the Starslayer campaign. It mostly has to do with "'" and "°" characters...
