The priest calls back, "Undead, giant insects, illegal Tomb Raiders, maybe a dragon." He doesn't appear to be joking.

Sasha comments If that isn't a twisted sense of humor. She gets back into marching formation.

You soon arrive at the Tomb.

A rectangular stone mausoleum sits alone in what appears to have once been an actual cemetery. The trunks of a few dead trees poke out of the sand around the tomb, and a hot breeze whistles through their desiccated branches. A set of massive stone double doors is affixed to the northern side of the structure, beneath a facade bearing the likeness of an Osirian man. Windblown sand is heaped around the crypt, partially burying the doors that lead within.

Sasha smiles. Well we are here. Lets get out of the sun. She moves over to the doors and takes out her small shortsword and tries to clear away some sand from the doors so she can get a better look at them.

Jabari looks around, taking in the huge mausoleum doors and the sand at the bottom. Then he walks over to the dead trees around the tomb, bends down and cups some of the sand away from the bottom of the stumps.

Hmmph, he grunts, and then walks back over to the doors.

Has anyone any ideas on how to get in? The doors look pretty solid.

He finishes what Sasha started and scuffs more sand away from the doors with his boots, creating a little cloud of shimmering sand particles in the sun.

Those trees may have have roots going under the tomb. Perhaps that could be a way in.

The doors are 10 feet tall and solid stone with no visible handles or hinges. A Knowledge (Engineering) check or Perception check may reveal more.

OOC:
Ok I already RP'd it so here goes...

Rolls

Knowledge (Dungeoneering) - (1d20+3)

(13) + 3 = 16

(Engineering, Perception) She looks over the doors with a bit house cleaning down. She seen many hard to open tombs before.

Rolls

Bard Engineering, Perception in the light of day and no trap. - (1d20+2, 1d20+5)

1d20+2 : (3) + 2 = 5

1d20+5 : (7) + 5 = 12

Jabari determines that the doors are on concealed hinges and swing outward. There are telltale traces of mortar along the seams and jamb that has since crumbled or been chipped away - this tomb was meant to be sealed permanently and not reopened. He also finds sings of a crowbar or something similar has been inserted between the doors at some point.

Opening the doors will require first moving all the sand away, which will take about an hour of sweaty work. Then you'll need to strong arm it open, which will be easier if you have a crowbar.
OOC:
Sasha failed both rolls DC 10 and 15 respectively, but Jabari passed.

Those of you who read Osiriani can decode the writing engraved on the doors of the tomb, which states:
[ +- ] Osiriani text

Sasha says as Jabari figures things out, Going to take more than just this sword to clear all this sand away.

Quietly saying a prayer to Nethys to focus his mind on the puzzle at hand, Krazzik searches the door and the walls around the door to see if there's another way to open it without spending half an hour of hard work to do so.
OOC:
Would disable device come into play here?

Rolls

Perception check - (1d20+6)

(7) + 6 = 13

OOC:
If someone had a shield maybe it could be used as a shovel?

Cross lets her hands flow over the door and the inscriptions, translating for all to hear.
hmmm... strange that they write that he died 11 years before the plague of madness

She speaks an incantation to reveal any magic (OCC Detect magic)
Using her Archaeologist training she looks for ways to open the door

Rolls

Perception - (1d20+2)

(16) + 2 = 18

Knowledge (engineering) - (1d20+9)

(5) + 9 = 14

Knowledge (Dungeoneering) - (1d20+6)

(13) + 6 = 19

Clarificiation: It doesn't say on the tomb that he died before the Plague of Madness, but having listened to a number of speeches from the priests recently, you know that the death date listed is 11 years before the Plague of Madness.

Krazzik doesn't think he can bypass the door.

Cross doesn't find anything magical. She determines the same information as Jabari above.

Avaline studies the situation, taking in the opinions of those that have searched the doors. "Sounds like maybe we don't have much choice other than to start digging, then."

She lifts her walking stick slightly. "I'm not much help shoveling, but I can certainly go in search of something to pry the doors open when time comes. Unless one of you brought a crowbar. I'm fresh out."
Sep 25, 2019 11:20 pm
Lets get the shields out then and start digging. Jabari looks at the group with his hands up as if to say, what are you waiting for? We also need to find a crow bar or something similar.

I suppose I could climb up on top and see if there's any way in from there?
OOC:
Is there a rough surface to climb anywhere around the tomb or a place for a rope to catch?

Rolls

Climbing roll just in case it makes sense - (1d20+4)

(8) + 4 = 12

OOC:
Little Sasha isn't very good about moving sand with small sword, but may make be used as a crowbar if nothing else.
OOC:
Can disable device be used to open the door?
Sep 26, 2019 2:27 am
Sasha doesn't think she can bypass the door that way.

So you spend an hour digging? If so then you'll need to make strength checks to open the door. Recall the Assist rules. Choose who is the main strengthenator, and two can assist them. In fact, two doors, so two can try at the same time. DC 10 to assist, and if successful, you give the main strengthifier +2 to their check. A crowbar would provide a significant reduction in the DC, but it is still possible without.

OOC:
So climbing is a non-starter?
