Characters

Let's get the character making underway, folks. If you aren't familiar with Greyhawk, permit me to give you a primer. (Disclaimer: I did not write it, I merely found it online and decided that it was useful) This document provides an overview of the Greyhawk setting and 5E rules for sub-races and deities. It also has a few other tidbits, including an origin table (to determine what part of Greyhawk your character comes from, of course).

I'm either going to be, depending on party needs/wants,

Twill Teak a Halfling Folk-Hero Rogue, from the Kingdom of Furyondy (11)
or
Thaddeus Sidirourgos a Half-Orc Guild Artisan (metalsmith) Cleric,born and raised in the Grandwood Forest (91)

with the stats

12
9
15

13

Hello all! Thanks to WhtKnt for the invite to the game!

I am minded to play a tempest domain cleric (seems fitting to a nautical themed adventure). But happy to switch it up to accommodate other players.

Seems my weekend reading is 58 pages of Greyhawk... ;-)

EDIT: that gives
4d6 - ( 5, 5, 3, 4 ) = 17 -> 14
4d6 - ( 5, 2, 2, 4 ) = 13 -> 11
4d6 - ( 2, 3, 2, 4 ) = 11 -> 9
4d6 - ( 6, 3, 6, 5 ) = 20 -> 17
4d6 - ( 4, 6, 3, 5 ) = 18 -> 15
4d6 - ( 5, 2, 4, 4 ) = 15 -> 13

Stat 1 = 9

Stat 2 = 14

Stat 3 = 13

Stat 4 = 11

Stat 5 = 7

Stat 6 = 16

I heard that there are a couple new backgrounds in the campaign book. Are those fair game or should we choose from other books?
Sep 19, 2019 10:07 pm
They are fair game. They are the Fisher, Marine, Shipwright, and Smuggler. Let me know if you are interested in one of these backgrounds and I will give you details.
Sep 19, 2019 11:28 pm
The Marine background sounds good for a fighter.
Sep 19, 2019 11:54 pm
I'm interested to see Shipwright and Smuggler.

I am keen to play either a deep gnome or a forest gnome. However, the stat rolls will detail it out!

Big change up. I'm going to be a half-elf entertainer rogue. I used the same 11 roll before to get a new birthplace from the elves column not the Halflings column.

Twilliam "Twill" Teak a Half-Elf and familiar traveller Storyteller and Puppeteer (and Rogue), from the free and independent city of Dyvers.

Are we doing any type of trinket for lore/background?
Sep 20, 2019 8:55 pm
No, but I will be giving you some information based on your background. You are not required to use the background tables. You may choose an origin (and Saltmarsh is, of course, available as an option) if you desire.
Sep 20, 2019 9:05 pm
Alright, I think I'm going with:

Oloric Hammerstone, Mountain Dwarf Fighter, Guild Artisan (Stone Mason), from the Independent Town of Highfolk.

Unless there are any objections.

I have submitted Pebelmis Kurcot for DM approval. He is a human tempest domain cleric of acolyte background.

The brief backstory is as follows:

Pebel is a follower of Procan, and was trained as an acolyte at the cathedral of Procan in Ironport. On completing his test, and being accepted as a cleric of the order, he has tasked by the bishop with delivering a message to the priest of the temple of Procan in Sasserine. Having delivered that message he has now traveled up the coast to Saltmarsh. He is planning to take the overland route back to Ironport via the great city of Greyhawk, which he has never seen.

EDIT: a couple of specifics to have confirmation on please @WhtKnt, firstly I've swapped a warhammer for a trident (it's actually less powerful, but more fitting to the background), secondly I've taken Aquan as a language (again to fit the background) - not sure if the latter will be game-breaking for this campaign, so let me know - happy to swap it out.

Also, for anyone exploring the geography of Flanaess, I found this useful: https://easyzoom.com/image/136006

@discourage: Neither should be a problem. Aquan will actually be a boon in some parts, and the trident is a good fit.

By the way, who has played any of these adventures before? It won't have any bearing on your inclusion, I'm just curious.
Sep 21, 2019 4:23 pm
I have not.
