Good day madam.

Gerald adopts his most disarming attitude to try and compensate for his ugly visage.

We have come looking for your help on a most important matter. I wonder if you wouldn't mind answering a few questions.
OOC:
Who is with Gerald?

Rolls

Notice - for any clues - (1d6, RA)

OOC:
All of you are together and there.
"Yes? Hello, I'm Liz Cambell, Mr. Dawlish's housekeeper."
Nov 11, 2019 2:49 pm
Gerald, had been heartened to see the door opening, but was disappointed when it wasn't the person they were looking for.

Hello Ma'am. Is Mr. Dawlish about?
Nov 11, 2019 4:23 pm
She responds, " He has been to a neighboring village, and will be returning home today by the graveyard road."
Nov 11, 2019 8:17 pm
I see. Thank you for that information. Perhaps we should go meet him there rather than wait here? What do you all think? Gerald says to the group.

But before we go, do you mind if I ask you how he has been....Mr Dawlish, that is? Has he been acting in an unusual manner? And have you noticed anything untoward going on around these parts in general other than the deaths of late?
OOC:
Unfortunately I don't see that I have any kind of roll here to coax her
Nov 11, 2019 10:33 pm
You'll get no further information from her. Not that she won't be polite, but after chatting with her, you will realize she doesn't know anything of interest to this mystery.
Nov 12, 2019 11:42 pm
Cecily whispers while the two chatter. "Nothing but dead ends. This town could benefit from a library."
OOC:
I am not very good at investigative gameplay, is there anything I could roll to help decide what to do next?
Nov 12, 2019 11:48 pm
OOC:
You've already nailed it, go intercept Dawlish on the road.
Nov 13, 2019 12:08 am
Alright Cecily, looks like we are done here. Let's go meet up with Mr Dawlish.
Nov 13, 2019 5:08 am
"It seems the only logical choice, yes."
OOC:
Yay.
Nov 14, 2019 2:35 am
You travel back through town, past the magistrate's office, the widow Iven's, and the church, and onto the road past the graveyard.

As you begin to pass the graveyard, you hear a gasp in fear. You see a man under a tree at the edge of the graveyard. A strange, red mist drifts toward him, and he's paralyzed in fear.

What do you do? Also, Notice rolls, please.
Nov 14, 2019 6:37 am
Not one to draw any closer to a mysterious entity of unknown origin, Cecily tries to asses the situation before diving in.
OOC:
What kind of check to learn something about the mist?

In case it affects anything don't forget I have danger sense.

Rolls

1d4 : (3) = 3

1d6 : (3) = 3

Nov 14, 2019 1:56 pm
"Well that might just be our killer and final victim..." Ataan states moving towards the man and mist.

Rolls

(4) + 2 = 6

Wild - (1d6+2, RA)

Ataan notices a thin tendril of the mist leads to a grave in the corner of the graveyard. He knows that that paticular spot is the pauper grave of Ivens.
Nov 14, 2019 2:32 pm
This looks curious.

Gerald tentatively approaches the grave with the others.
OOC:
and I forgot the exploder so I will roll the 6 again.

The mist draws closer to the man who must be Dawlish based upon the descriptions you likely heard.

The mist does indeed extend from the grave of Ivens.
Nov 19, 2019 7:40 pm
Gerald quietly draws his pistol and takes care to step silently towards the man. He is almost certain that this man is Dawlish but the mist ins't helping with identification. It is perhaps providing some cover for them though. Tread lightly Cecily, he whispers.
Nov 20, 2019 12:44 am
Cecily nods without a word, consciously keeping her footsteps quiet. She would love to study this mist and the effect it has on the stranger, but that would be unnecessarily cruel to him at this point.
Nov 20, 2019 12:51 am
The mist continues to advance upon the paralyzed man. As it envelops him, wounds begin to open up on his exposed skin. He screams.

Is the plan is to simply watch him die?
Nov 20, 2019 2:24 am
Gerald realizes that being careful won't be necessary. The man is in mortal danger. The mist appears to be killing him.

Quick, no time to lose. This is no ordinary mist. It is an evil living thing. Come! We must save the man.
