Fan Mail

Oct 9, 2019 5:51 am
Fan mail is not just a way to give players in our game positive feedback (although they do love that aspect of it); it also gives them a way to "buy" extra influence on the story to make things more interesting. (A complete explanation of how fan mail works in Primetime Adventures is here.)

This thread is where the players of Star Trek: Entanglement posted fan mail before we had reader-fans. We ultimately want all the fan mail for our show to come from you, our actual fans! You can send fan mail by using the Google Form at this link. The form will ask for your GP username and will be verified to be an active member.

Each fan will be allowed to send one fan mail per scene. Whether fan mail is available for sending depends on the current Audience Pool count. You'll find this running total at the bottom of this post. But regardless of whether they "count" for the mechanics, our players love hearing from the fans, so please send your comments in.

(Please be positive and kind - tell us about what you liked and want to see more of.)

Send fan mail here!

CURRENT AUDIENCE POOL: 7
Currently, this is how many potential fan mails available to send. This will increase when the producer spends "budget" tokens during a card draw (conflict) and decrease as fan mail is applied.

CURRENT FAN MAIL COUNT:
Capt. Tabitha McCurry - 2
Counselor Edgar Mitsk - 2
Liaison Oobadek - 2
Chief Engineer Avery Edison - 1
First Officer Pleiades Hamilton - 1

CURRENT EPISODE BUDGET - 18

Somewhere in the Midwest, a young teacher is pulled away from grading at the promise of a brand new Star Trek series. When Captain McCurry speaks to the Hodgkin, then is abruptly ripped back into reality, she smirks.

Heh. Nice. This'll be fun.

Fan Mail for the Captain, please. I like that it showed motivation underneath her "Screw you" shell. :)

A twenty something in the snowy confines of the frozen north watches the first scene of the new Star Trek show. They think to themselves, "That McCurry is smokin! And she has spunk! Can't wait to see some entanglement. She's going to show Smelly McAdmireshimself the what's what."

They pen a fan letter to the actress, asking for an autographed pic.

Tracing the ship on the window, captain. Great visual. Keep 'em coming!

Giving out a fan mail to Edgar:

"But you know how much I hate counseling. In fact, I am not a big fan of people in general."

This line made me laugh, and it's a very nice, succinct way of describing the character in just a few words. I think it really sets up the issue nicely for the future -- a counselor who doesn't want to be counseling. Good work!

I think Avery should get fan mail. She is definitely getting the frazzled engineer part down pat, and that creates interesting conflict that I want to see more of, er, of which I want to see more.

The Midwestern Nerd, who definitely has other work she should be doing, stares in awe at the screen while the new captain, pretentious at first, spouts beauteous technobabble in the engine room. It almost sounds like an actual scientist made it up, and her chemist heart flutters.

She rapidly logs on to FaceSpace to "like" the fan page and squee about well-written fake tech.

(Fan mail for the captain, please!)

A hard week at work finally over, the TV fan sits down to see what the DVR has in store for him.

Hmmmm a new Star Trek series. This could be good or awful, but every new genre show gets 3 episodes to rope me in.

After finishing what was on his DVR, he realized he was ready for more.

He goes on line to Primetimer.com and the forum for the new Trek show so he can gush about the show, and one scene in particular.

Her face falls through a variety of expressions - the smile, a disappointed sigh, a huff of frustration - before settling back into her usual mannequin state

That run of expressions really showed the internal struggle the character was going through.
OOC:
Fan mail for Lav. Honourable mention for a pregnant pause getting late.

As a new scene opens, the Midwestern Teacher laughs.

"Ah! Poor Ooby! Avery's laying down the riot act!"
OOC:
Fan mail for Somebox for stoically treating Oobadek like a child.

Fan mail for Ooby. Facing down Hamilton and staying in character so well, that's definitely worthy of a fan mail.

I was thinking Edgar needed some fan mail. That scene with the doctor was over the top.

Fan mail for Ooby's tendrils. They have a life of their own!
