Prologue: End of Chainfist's reign.

Nov 3, 2019 7:14 am
The Wicked Captain Chainfist is finally forced into the realm of death as Darastix fired a flaming blast of energy through his ribcage and into his burning black heart. This final blow caused his bones to fly off in all directions, and leaving behind a strange smoldering black pendant.

Any remaining skeleton crew collapse into a pile, and the supernatural fog clears. A look throughout the ship reveals no valuables or the clues to any treasure. Even the Captain's quarters contains nothing but a Throne made from bones and rope, and plenty of cobwebs.
Nov 3, 2019 7:25 am
The surviving pirates and the citizens of the Sun Empire goes up to Darastix, as she has become the de facto captain. "Cap'n Red! It looks ta be that we have claimed this ere' spooky ship from that bony seadog! It would be an honour fer us ta serve ye as ya crew!" One of the senior pirates announces.

"However, o' course its up ta ye. Also, we had ta deal the other folks on board with us. Especially the blood suckers..." He whispered the last line as he tilt his head towards the vampires.

OOC:
What is Darastix's response? Who would try to deal with the strange artifact? Is any one against the idea of Darastix being the leader?
Nov 3, 2019 7:42 am
"Well Darastrix, that was quite the fight. The captaincy is rightfully yours. I will follow you, if you will lead" says Agla holding forth a clawed hand to the newly appointed captain.

Investigation: study something closely
Perception: Be on the lookout for something.

Arcana: Recall about spells, magic items, and being able to identify them.
Religion: Recall about gods and their lore.

I approach the pirate who mentioned the blood-suckers. Do you have a problem with me? If so, we can settle that right now. I smile at him, revealing my fangs. Perhaps you would like to join my type and then they'll deal with you too? I don't wait for a response.

I look at Darastrix. You have rightful claim to this ship now, and I will not deny it. You will have no trouble from me, as long as certain conditions are met.
Nov 4, 2019 5:30 pm
Darastrix has no problems with taking leadership. Not that didn't want it in the first place as the last ship she wasn't when she got kidnapped. She isn't about to pass up this chance. Aye Chain is gone! She spits on where his some of his bones lay. Seeing the condition of a freak'en undead ship, We need to set sail! Anyone that doesn't fair to deal with this can find Dave's Locker.

Appears she wishes to get the ship in ship order and it need cleaning and is going to need supplies. And she doesn't take no for answer to getting that done. She will hunt for maps to figure where the nearest port is.
Nov 5, 2019 4:15 am
The pirate that Lord Artemis spoke to begins to reach for his sword. Before he could give a warning, the vampire turns away to speak with Darastix. He took a breath as fear left him, but soon anger returned, and the pirate walked away muttering curses under his breath while keeping an eye on the vampires on board. "Frick'n pale bastards... and their devilish humour. May they sink to The Locker..."

Meanwhile, another pirate came to Darastix. "My Lady! I have with me a map, as you requested. This map may be drawn by my own hand, but it could do for now. As for the nearest port, I believe it's Port Red Fang. However, it has been taken over by the Legion of Dusk, so there may be some issues if we land there. But with some of their citizens onboard, I think they could make it easier to go past their strict bureaucracy." He then looks at the sun, then points to the West. "That way is our is destination. Once you approve, we will set sail!"

Darastrix half chuckles on the thought that is a lady, but she lets it pass. There seems to be little about her that is at all lady like other than her body. With a quick glance over the map. Aye. This will have to do. She gives out the order to set sail. To the port we go. She smiles inward as she watches the crew get this undead ship moving.

She picks up old Chain's toy. Looks at it in wonder what power it might have. She believes Chain would only have it if it had some worth about it and it survived better than him.
Nov 5, 2019 3:59 pm
I make sure to stay close Darastrix, hoping to use friendship as a means to an end.
Nov 5, 2019 4:55 pm
As Chee-hu casts his spell, the form of a small drizzling grey cloud appears out of thin air in front of his glowing hands.

As Darastix picks up Chain's item by its chain(lol), she noticed something strange.

Despite the decayed appearance of The Embargo, it still is able to float and sail in the waters. The crew worked with energy to make sure everything is running smoothly as the ship travels West. Also, the ship has been properly disposed of bodies and bones as the crew threw them overboard, but not without uttering a few prayers first.

The sky begins to darken with clouds and the light shower of rain starts to fall. Soon, the sun sets, and the moon rises. Its almost time for sleep, and a few pirates have gathered in the ship's cage-filled hold, where they either cracked jokes to pass the time or have begun dozing off.

I change my clothes and hang my wet clothes on the side of the ship. I make sure everything is straightened, as to limit the wrinkles.
Nov 7, 2019 3:53 pm
Darastrix now takes a tour of the ship. She has been just holding a position more of the deck and such. She hasn't really spend any time at all to inspect the crews work to get this undead ship in decent shape, as obviously the previous crew never cared.

As she walks with a critical eye, any crewmember can feel presences if not see her. She unleash heavy scorn if anything she sees displeases her. She wants the ship fully ready should problems arise. It is quite obvious that this ship is marked by all and no doubt if any stronger ship would take action on it. Chains Legacy. She doubts any lesser ship would dare even come in range of it. The ship still flies the colors of Chain still. She not likely to drop such till closer to their destination.

Chee-hu, in this morning, and realizing that their stores may be light, pulls out his component pouch, touches some mistletoe, and incants, and 10 magical berries appear in his other hand. He eats one to sustain himself, and offers berries to 4 people who look worse for wear, and then walks up to the captain.

"Ay, Cap! These should sustain some folks who you deem worthy for the day. They will wither away by tomorrow at sunrise, so use them today."

His 6'6" frame is imposing, but his face is friendly enough.

Chee-hu thinks for a minute. "Well, we may want to make sure our stores are stocked enough to manage any eventuality. We might be on the sea longer than anticipated."
Nov 8, 2019 5:59 am
A few of the nearby crew noticed the berries that Chee-hu has and came over to him. "Aye, ye big lad! Me and my mates would like to have some o that there berries! Ye wouldn't mind offerin' us a couple, would ye?"

Another member went up to report to Darastix. "Captain, I'd like ta report on da numbers on board on this here ship. There are currently 8 pirate sea-dogs, 2 Empire natives, 2 o' them Legion folks, and the 4 remaining are what I call "the tough ones", which includes you, Captain Red. That means we have 16 on board here, and not enough food supplies to last another day. The good news is that we are reaching Fairport in about tomorrow. I know you've been trying to put about order, so I'll also let you know that some o' us suspected that a vampire is hoarding food on his person. I'll leave it to you to handle this..." He whispered the last few sentences before backing away.

Darastrix listen to the mate. All can feast in the port soon. With a side glance, Ave I'm sure the Vamp might be a problem. Let the port deal with that if it too much. We have enough troubles with undead.

Chee-hu tells those inquiring about berries, "I only have these 5 to offer. If you eat a berry, don't engorge yourself with the food from the gally. We can eat more later." He looks to the first 5 hands and drops a berry in each.

"The rest of you, if you want more berries, let's go check to see what's pulling the boat."

Then, a shadowy shape comes up and knocks into the ship's hull, and the whole ship rocks again. It must not be a shark, as it has a long body part similar to a tail or a tentacle striking the ship. "There be something in the waters..." says the mate beside him.

Suddenly, shouting is heard coming from the prison hold, and one of the humans from the sun empire ran up onto the deck. "Help! There is water leaking in! Something is hitting the boat!"

They begin trying to close up the hole using their clothes and other items. The rest tries to use the buckets in the cell that was meant for defecating in to scoop away the water. The effectiveness of their efforts is too early to be determined.

Meanwhile, above the deck, Alga sends another insult to distract the beast, but it ignores her. As for the other two blasts being sent forth by the warlocks, the beast saw them coming, and dodged both them.

Darastix's attack manages to land, but Artemis's frustrated blast have missed its target. Another insult is hurled by Aglaophonos... And it seems that it was starting to go deaf from all the blasting to not even hear it.

I've decided to roll for Chee-hu.
Ouch, maybe I'll "roll behind the screen" next time.
Chee-hu continues with his hardwork, hammering away to nail down the hull. But it seems that his effort only made things worse, as the water level now reached about 2 feet high.

As for the dinosaur, it swims forwards some more, preparing to make another ram. This time, its head is still above the water.

Would you allow us to leap into the water to draw its attention and to aid in ending its miserable life?" Another crew also shouts: "We can later pull them back up with ropes!"

It's the party's turn again.

Darastrix doesn't blast and instead will lead the crew in leaping over into the water with nets & ropes and whatever they have to help take care of the beasty. YES! Arg. Take it down now. To the deep's with it. She leads the attack with a scimitar in her hands as she goes over the side to attack the beast.

The warlocks's attacks are now badly injuring the beast, and to add salt to injury, Aglaophonos sends off one more biting quip... but the Dino is not bothered with it.

Chee-hu plucks up his confidence to continue his work. The damage he created is mended, and he focuses on the other repairs.

The ship crew gave a battle cry and three of them leap in after their captain. They too, are able to make attacks...

Meanwhile, as the captain have went into the water, a crew member goes to cause the ship to slow to a stop.

The Plesiosaurus now has become terrified, and so tries to escape. Darastix can make her attack of opportunity!

By the time they realised that the creature is already dead, the Dino has been turned into a giant sliced-up chunk of flesh. The crew also finds themselves covered in blood.

As the threat is eliminated, the rest of the crew on board tossed down ropes and nets to haul back their wet heroes. While this happens one crew asked. "Aye, Captain! Good job there! By the way, I have an idea of what we could do with the sea beast! We could bring it up on board, and prepare it as a meal for us to have a feast tonight! What do you say?"

Meanwhile, Chee-hu is finally able to perform his task in peace. Within an hour, the holes are patched up with an assortment of materials, and the water in the cargo hold is cleared.
OOC:
I will post XP reward soon.

Darastrix smiles, Aye we shall have meat tonight in our stew. And many days forward.. She is still slightly covered with the creatures blood, but it only serves her to the better. To be sure to the crew knows she fears no death. After the creature is haul aboard with slicing and dicing following, Darastrix retires a bit to clean up as the deed is done. As always she returns to the deck where she favors. There she holds her stance as Captain Red, as the title serves her well.

Darastrix will take her place in the Brazen Coalition as now drams herself with Captain status. She well knows the goings with them.

After those repairs, Chee-hu instructs those men that helped to get rid of all of the excess water, and once it is sufficiently drained, he tells the men well done, uses his remaining spell slots to reward the men and women with good berries, and then he goes on deck to breath the fresh sea air.

He kneels in place, thanking his mother for her assistance today in saving them from annihilation. He then finds as quiet a spot as he can and just enjoys the scenery for a while.

Later at night, everyone celebrated the battle, thanking their heroes that saved their ship from being wrecked and from having to be eaten by the Dino. Instead, they shall feast on it, and with some semi-decent preparation, probably with using Eldritch Blasts to cook the meat, everyone enjoyed the meal, even if the taste is a little exotic.

Soon, everyone hits the hay again for the new day where they shall arrive at port...
Dec 18, 2019 6:12 am
The ship sails on as night passes and the morning comes. The shoreline can be about seen as the ship draws closer to its destination. Arrival is expected to be by noon, as long as no more trouble comes.
OOC:
I am pacing it a bit slowly to see the response of the other 2 players, but it seems to be not much activity. I'll keep the narrative moving forwards, and if players are not around, then I'll either place them as stand by or remove them.

Chee-hu slept on the deck, tucked in a corner, but watched as the stars illuminated the night sky. As he dreamed, he dreamed of shape shifting into a tiny beetle, scurrying on the dirt floor of a strange place, which he has not seen before, but he feels is of some cosmic magnitude and importance.

It is a cave, and as he looks ahead, a faint green glow emanates from an object fixed to the wall of the cave, though he cannot make out what it is. As he attempts to focus in on the object, the green glow shifts to a yellow/orange/pink hue as his eyes open to the brightness of the morning warmth of dawn.

Darastrix has uneasy sleep. Mostly do to the point she hasn't a trusted second. Solo Captain is one that is always on the alert. That and the fact of a new crew and all. Trust isn't her highlight of life at the moment.

But with a fine breakfast of dino meat, makes her and the crew much happier. She pulls has the flag pulled in the morning as she doesn't wish them to be noted on approach. She makes surprises to the crew where they are going.

She calls out as we approach, Aye. Port soon Let us enjoy this landing. Perhaps we can influence the local tavern for some fine service. Arg. Her intent is unspoken as she knows none of us have as much as a coin to our names.

Chee-hu stands up to that, and begins doing a chant and dance of the morning. "No te ata; kua rite ahau ki te timata i taku ra."

None of you would understand the language, but he would look aggressive during his dance. However, once he is complete, he walks up to Darastrix happily and says, "Morning, Cap! How does the boat fair today? How will we fund more lasting repairs?"
Dec 20, 2019 6:23 pm
Darastrix, a bit annoyed, It will all be taken care of in due time. Enjoy the fares of the port.
Dec 21, 2019 5:12 am
A couple more hours pass, and the docks of the port can be seen in the horizon. Seagulls begin to circle your ship as you draw closer. If anyone were to see your ship, it would look like a rickety old thing, instead of the terror of the seas as the skull flag has been taken down.

Chee-hu studies the birds, and finds that their behaviour looks to be ordinary. These birds are now resting on the ship, pooping and squawking about. They are also intentionally avoiding to get too close to Aglaophonos the Siren.
Dec 23, 2019 4:47 pm
OOC:
And the right on it being a rickety old ship.
Darastrix pays the sea gulls no attention at all. She is focused on the port they are going to dock in. She demandingly calls out orders to bring the ship in.
Dec 24, 2019 5:31 am
The bustling noises of the port can finally be heard as the ship comes in to be docked. There are some workers that help to direct the ship in, and worked together with the crew to tie the ship to the dock with ropes and placing down a wooden walkway.

Fairport is a special designed town as it is mostly over the waters. Shops, taverns, and warehouses are sitting next to each other upon the sturdily built platform that extends roughly 400ft into the sea.
Dec 24, 2019 5:39 am
Then, an old man wearing a black tattered greatcoat walked over. When he sees Darastix he hobbles over to her rather quickly.

"Eh, excuse me ma'am, but I can't help but be curious about your vessel. I do not dare to insult a fellow sailor's ship, but she looks very familiar to me. I hope you don't mind if you would tell me where did you get her?" The man gave a yellow toothed grin.

Chee-hu gathers any gold that he can find on the ship, and attempts to buy some studded leather armor and a components pouch.

He will head back to the ship and try to practice some of his magic, performing a few haka chants and seeing what comes from them.

Yes, it’ll be armor without metal. I actually don’t have enough money for studded leather, unless I found something on the ship. I can update my equipment on this, but the DNDBeyond link on my character sheet should also have my inventory up-to-date.

Dec 27, 2019 7:47 pm
As much as I love the sea, I love gold more. How would you be paying me the 5000gp?
Dec 28, 2019 2:20 am
The blacked clothed smiles. "That's great! I'll be back with the payment! Come with me, boys!" He says to the muscled men that were pretending to be bystanders as he hobbles away.

Will Chee-hu still attempt to go ahead to sell all the items he has taken, or wait till the old man returns with the cash?
Dec 28, 2019 5:42 am
Chee-hu would pocket the flag, saving it for later. He would also attempt to sell the remaining items, but do it discretely, bringing Darastrix in on his plan.
Dec 28, 2019 4:35 pm
Darastrix says to Chee-hu after hearing the plan, Aye. Best you get another to haul more quickly to help rid this ship of anything sellable, before the old man returns. Quite a surprise to Chee-hu that Darastrix is looking to unload the ship quickly and seems to be looking on him favorably rather than string him up for stealing.

With the two of you helping each other to take down extra stuff, such as the sails and the steering wheel, you two quickly hauled the goods to the nearby store. As you do this there are a couple of surprised bystanders watching you.

The store merchant looks at your items with his monocle. He rubs his mustache. "I could offer you 100 gold pieces for all of these. But don't bother haggling me, this is as much as I can give you for these second hand junk." He says in a haughty tone.
Dec 29, 2019 4:25 pm

Chee-hu would have stashed the flag in his bag, because he would think that the Cap might want to use it for notoriety at some point.

Would that affect the price being offered?
Dec 30, 2019 12:52 pm
OOC:
Sure. The price is now 85gp.
Dec 30, 2019 3:26 pm
Darastrix has no trouble with the deal. She get rid of the stuff fast as she soon wish to get rid of the ship as well. Then she wish to enjoy the tavern before closing in for the night. As she secretly takes her time to herself.

At the tavern she keeps to her portrayed portrait of Captain Red. She advises Chee-hu to be ready to move and may be just before dawn.

The deal is done fast. The two of them exit the shop to wait at the ship for the old man to return with the money. Soon, he comes over with his men carrying over a chest. Upon opening it, 20 gold bars are stacked inside, each worth 250gp, totalling to 5000gp as promised.

Later that night, Darastix led her crew to the tavern to celebrate reaching land safely, and for defeating Captain Chainfist. The locals are surprised by the tale, and some are even skeptical. There is a couple of rough looking men who asked for proof of the victory. If so, they would willingly buy everyone a round of drinks and pay for their night stay.

Would you show the skull flag, the black pendant, or both?
Dec 31, 2019 4:34 pm
OOC:
I didn't post for the days earlier about the black pendant if I had learned anything by looking and use of detect magic. She isn't very good one for research but she tries just the same to fathom anything she can about the black pendant of chainfist.
