"I believe there's one more of them, Ma'am." Her assistant crouches down beside Marv to help him back to his feet.
OOC:
That puts us back to the top of the initiative order. I believe Somebox asked to take this slot for Red. Both Red and Hank are within short range of the masked guy and Lance.

"Get hit idiot!" Red sprints at this masked muchacho, elbowing him in the stomach while locking eyes with Lance. so cool.
OOC:
Thanks for reminding me about the advantage! I'm gonna upgrade because elbow doesn't have accurate.

Rolls

Elbow (Base damage 2, Pierce 1)

3 Success, 1 Advantage, 2 Failure, 2 Threat

Total: 1 Success, 1 Threat

guy has Melee Defense 2

1 Failure, 1 Threat

Total: 1 Failure, 1 Threat

Jan 12, 2020 1:10 pm
OOC:
Forgot to note: This guy has Adversary 1 and Melee Defense 2 / Ranged Defense 1.

Adversary 1: Upgrades a purple to a red when attacking him (done correctly above)
Defense: Each point adds a black die to attack him. (Forgot to mention, so added it in.)

Ends up turning Red's attack into 2 Threats.
The man weaves out of the way, eyes fixated on Hank. "You people are really starting to piss me off!" He runs toward the hulking man, cattle prod overhead, and swings it toward Hank's head.
OOC:
Guy had to disengage, then engage (2 strain), then attack. Using the 2 threat from Red's attack to keep the aims.

7 damage to Hank (before Soak). The prod wasn't charged (it can only be charged each other round), so this is straight Wounds. It also has 1 auto-threat. How would y'all like to spend it? Another strain to this guy? (Strain = Wounds on Rivals.)
OOC:
Critical Injury (Easy): Stunned. Hank is Staggered until the end of his next turn. A staggered character cannot perform actions (including downgrading actions into maneuvers). Minor Nick: The target suffers 1 Strain.

Rolls

Melee

3 Success, 2 Advantage, 1 Triumph, 1 Failure, 2 Threat

Total: 2 Success, 1 Triumph

critical hit - (1d100)

(35) = 35

OOC:
Is it safe to assume the critical effects in this game are the same as Age of Rebellion? If so, I'd like to use my once-a-session special ability Tough as Nails to downgrade the crit to a 01 (using a story point). That would change it into a single strain assuming it's the same as AoR.

And my vote is to give this sucker an extra strain.
Jan 12, 2020 2:28 pm
"Only inside ma'am, there's always the threat in the streets when the unlawful run wild. Marv if you're good I'll be going first. Yell if things go sideways." Max states readjusting his gloves to catch up to the others.
Jan 12, 2020 7:15 pm
OOC:
Brilliant use of Tough as Nails! Critical has been reduced to 01.
Despite his injuries, Lance seems energized by the arrival of some backup. "I told you to get out of my gym! Now let's make him pay!" The man's words are slurred, and his demeanor a bit too woozy, probably from the shock. But his words do inspire his next ally!
OOC:
Attempted Field Commander. Failed... Next PC gets a boost, though!
OOC:
So, I think Max's turn is to move to within short range (based on Remnant's post above). That leaves Marv and Hank to go.

Rolls

Leadership (Field Commander)

3 Success, 2 Advantage, 3 Failure, 1 Threat

Total: 1 Advantage

Hank falls back, wiping the blood from his eyes and sizing up his opponent. Come to think of it, not sure I can take a lot more either. Looks like Lance already gave him hell. Don't worry, boss. I've got a bit more to dish out myself.

As the weapon swings back for another strike, Hank lunges into the intruder's space. He grabs the masked man's jacket and drives his knee up hard into his ribs.
OOC:
Two maneuvers to aim, then increasing the attack difficulty to use my Painful Blow talent:

When your character makes a combat check, you may voluntarily increase the difficulty by one to use this talent. If the target suffers one or more wounds from the combat check, the target suffers 2 strain each time they perform a maneuver until the end of the encounter.

Also, it would be HUGE to hit with this, so spending a story point to upgrade my attack.

Rolls

Aimed Upgraded Knee

4 Success, 3 Advantage, 2 Failure, 4 Threat

Total: 2 Success, 1 Threat

Big guy's defense

1 Threat

Total: 1 Threat

OOC:
Aim twice = 2 boosts, but Lance passed 1 more. I'll roll it for you if you don't get around to it before I post again.

OOC:
Nice! I knew that, but forgot.

Hank's knee jams into the man's side with a sickening crack. If the mask weren't in the way, his eyes would definitely bug out. As Hank pulls his leg away, the invader exhales a harsh breath and collapses to the floor. Outside, you all hear the van's sliding door slam shut.
OOC:
Two Threat = free maneuver for enemy in van. That's it for this masked guy, though. Still two PC slots. Do you want to do anything about the van outside? All of you but Marv are two Moves from outside (move to door, go through door). If not, we'll end the encounter.

Marv snatches the painkillers out of the air and uses his teeth to bite the cap off. He pours a few into his mouth and starts munching, holding the label up in front of him as the lights above swim in the pain. To reduce risk of overdose and euphoria, do not crush or chew. The label says. Huh... Marv says as he continues to grind the pills between his teeth before swallowing.

He stands, weaving unsteadily as his head feels like it floats into the sky, "I don't know who was responsible for inspecting that rope, but I'm going to report them to OSHA." He shakes his head to try and clear it, pressing against the still-bleeding wound that he sustained from the beer bottle. "And why are there two of you all of the sudden?"
OOC:
I'll use painkillers to heal 5 wound w/ one maneuver, try to heal my critical injury with resilience. If standing up would be my second maneuver, I'll stay on the ground (I don't have the strain to take 2). I'm not sure the difficulty for recovering from a critical injury in this way, but it's listed under the resilience skill in CRB.

OOC:
The Resilience check option is described on p. 116. Unfortunately, PCs can only attempt this after a week of bedrest. (Medicine can be used immediately.) You have some other action you want to try?
Jan 13, 2020 4:38 am
OOC:
I'll probably exchange my action to move toward the chaos. Marv never was one who was too bright about self-preservation.
Jan 13, 2020 1:51 pm
Max bolts throw seeing the situation he moves through to the outside hearing suspicious sounds.
OOC:
two maneuvers of movement -2 strain and looking around to canvas the outside area. Perception w/ Knack for It.
Jan 14, 2020 1:47 am
Marv gets his feet back under him and runs toward the front of the gym while Max pushes outside. He sees a black van with blackout windows idling there, along with several reporters or friends of the gym who seem to have been injured.

But as soon as Max pokes his head outside, the vehicle peels out and takes off down the newly dubbed "Wakamatsu Avenue."
[ +- ] Creeper Van
OOC:
The initiative order is a bit wonky here, as the van doesn't get to go until after Max's turn finishes. But for simplicity, you can make a Perception check against a Hard difficulty (PPP) if you want; 2 setbacks for darkness and the van being in motion. Success might give you the plate, or other details about it.

Roll...with Story point.

Hard perception with knack for it

Max gets most of the plate, but a trailer hitch blocks the middle two characters. The squeaky brakes and puttering motor indicate the van has seen better days.

4 threat = the missing two characters and two facts that aren't quite right.

OOC:
Any desire to grab a vehicle and try to give chase? There are vehicles in the parking lot. One could be hot-wired, or you could flip a SP to say one of you has a vehicle parked there. The van has a head start, of course.

If you're OK with letting them get away, we'll end the encounter. The adventure won't grind to a halt either way!
Jan 14, 2020 3:02 am
OOC:
I'm personally find with letting them get away, but if others wanna give chase I'm game.
Jan 14, 2020 12:44 pm
OOC:
Same here. I could use a bit of recovery time before we end up in another combat, but I could always pop some painkillers in the car if nothing else.
