This is mainly for Arina to discuss their character in detail. Please restrict posts to this thread to only things related to Arina's character. Yes this can include specific collaboration posts but general posts should be made to the Discussion thread.

Hey GM, I'll be playing Alexander Van Derhof, a human varient dragon origin sorcerer.

This is the background I used for the last campaign. Let me know if you think it is suitable and if you need me to make any changes. Our original characters were all level 5

Alexander was born into the merchant class in Ivorn. His parents were moderately wealthy. As such
he was given a lot of freedom to choose a profession. He decided to join the Alchemists' Guild. For over
ten years he gained a reputation for his magical potions. His healing potions in particular, proved quite
lucrative for the guild. One day, he was given the opportunity to work on a Fire Resistance formula.
Alexander was certain that he could improve the existing formula and make it even more effective. He was
right, but not in the way that he envisioned. He ordered parts of every composite material known to have
fire resistance qualities and began his experimentations. After combining several components together,
which included parts of an adult red dragon, Alexander was certain that his formula was complete. He
imbibed the concoction and was very surprised when nothing seemed to happen. The next day, he awoke
to find that his face, hands and feet were covered in red scales. He immediately quarantined himself in
his house in the hopes that his symptoms were temporary. They were not. In fact, they got worse. The
scales grew over his entire body and, even more strangely, he developed several magical powers, mostly
involving flaming, powers of evocation.
His absence from the guild did not remain a secret for long. One day, one of his colleagues, Christian Drake,
paid him a visit. At first, he was revolted and tried to console his friend, but once Alexander demonstrated
his new powers, his sympathy changed to wonder. The two argued long into the night. Christian thought
that Alexander ought to show his formula to the guild but Alexander argued that it was too unstable, and
needed further study. In the end Christian stormed out never to return.
A few days later, several hooded figures broke into Alexander's home. Alexander awoke and when the figures
attacked him, he defended himself with his magic. The screams of those men still haunt his dreams to this
day. They were burnt alive and, in the process, Alexander set his house on fire. He hurriedly packed a few
things, including his secret formula and his notes, and fled into the night.

Okay looks good as a back story -- and you have traveled perhaps the most remote location in the realms -- where you find yourself currently ;-) Have you posted your character sheet?

I have just submitted it.

Thanks and I have looked it over --- now all I need our the details for character creation in the previous game so I can post them for the two new folks -- and those homebrew rules so I can be sure I understand them and can make room for them within the game's tapestry

If you can help with either of these or both that would be great -- I really do want to get things started sooner rather than too much later

Creating your character
Create a character at level 5 using any available resource (see above). Make sure to check out the Houserules threat as it contains variant rules that will affect everyone's game, and my alter a class or subclass you want to play.

The human variant is available.
For your characteristics, use the buy point or the standard array only.

For starting equipment, we'll follow the DMg p.38 guideline: you'll start with 500 gp plus 1d10 x 25 gp, plus normal starting equipment. You may spend them as you see fit, but the only magical items available are the consumables ones (scrolls, potions etc). Reference prices and availability are right here : Vikaastea is supplied as a Urban Locale but, being far from the Sword Coast and all its mages, magical items are priced Expensive and limited to consumables. Permanent magical items are out of your league for now.

Some backgrounds (Outlander), class (Ranger) and other skills or spells (Goodberry) make survival completely trivial. I toned them down in the Houserule thread. If you think you found a loophole, don't try to exploit it: I probably missed it and won't let it into the game. Instead, work with me to make it an awesome feature that fits the game!
Survival as a challenge will be core to our game, so breaking that isn't going to be fun for anyone

Although, to be perfectly honest, survival was never an actual feature of our game. We basically just walked into a fort got attacked by zombies and then our DM quit. The combat was quite fun and we had the clear objective of trying to rescue another party and retake an old abandoned fort.

Well you will have another clear objective when the group starts so do not worry there. And the survival thing may just come into play if not immediately definitely later on.
