Once the Dribbage inquiry is resolved, Nekurr takes his earnings and looks for a way to pay his dues to the goddess Fortuna. The Half-Catfolk hears rumors of plentiful dice games at the Crooked Grin, a rowdy tavern popular with Orcs in Nornholt's Lower City. While he sticks out like a sore thumb among the Orcs inside, his quick wit soon earns him a place at one of the dice tables. The game is Almar's Bones, although the Orcs tend to call it by its name in their tongue, Hintaro.

Nekurr sees he's facing off against two opponents, both Orcs. The game is medium-stakes to start, with an ante of 25 silver. The Saint begins once the participants have all anted up. The players then each roll two dice.

Current Pot: 75 silver.
OOC:
CESN requested a gambling mini-game, but anyone can join in if they wish. At this point, the most you can lose is 25 silver, but that number will grow once people start raising their bets à la poker.

First, roll 2 boost dice (BB).

The Saint asks Dal'Ghul for a wager. He raises 5 silver. Zulgha Bulgan matches this and raises another 20. Dal'Ghul stubbornly matches the wager.
OOC:
So, Nekurr can back out at this point if he wishes (out 25 silver), or meet the new wager (25 more silver). Then there's a chance to re-roll one of the two blue dice, but the chances of beating Zulgha are slim.

true 😅 I’m guessing a quick magic pray won’t be usable in discrete ways, right? Something like asking a lady orc to kiss the dice for luck?

OOC:
I had the feeling there were divine spells that added a bonus, but I can't find them :( Nekurr would still stand a change if an extra die ;)
Nekurr sights and looks at Zulgha "My sweet lady, you seem to have been blessed by Fortuna tonight. " he puts down the 25 silvers on the table and folds. He looks through the window and says "But the night is still young, why don't I grab you a drink a join you for the next game?"
OOC:
Lots money but did he make friends? I'll assume she is the sort of PPPP friendly ;)
I could roll once more just for the sake of it if that's ok. Once I know how much I have left, I'll use it to buy stuff :D

LOL! You only lost 25 silver. You're welcome to try another round if you wish. You could even try casting a Divine spell if you want -- Maybe Formidable (PPPP) lets you use the Predict action to see just how to throw the dice to get a better result? If you succeed, you can roll the dice twice and pick the better outcome on a single toss?

I'll use buying a drink to pray a little and return
By the way, did you move the table of dice scores? I can't find it anymore :(
"Here you go miss" Nekurr returns to the gambling table and puts one mug in front of Zulgha and then one in front of Thad "You joining us for a new one as well?

I put it in the IC Player Resource thread, but it's worth reposting here:

Almar's Bones

Almar's Bones is a popular dice game in Nornholt. The game is known by other names around Terrinoth, and is thought to have originated among the Orcs, who call it Hintaro.

Almar's Bones is fairly simple:

1) Select the "Saint" (moderator).
2) Other players ante up. A standard ante is as low as 5 silver and as high as 100.
3) Roll dice. Each player rolls two boost dice (BB).
4) Place bets. Starting to the right of the Saint, the players wager some amount in addition to the ante. Players must meet or raise on the bet of the players before them.
5) Roll again. The Saint asks each player if they wish to reroll one of their two dice.
6) Roll the Dark Lord. The Saint rolls a setback die (K), and its symbols cancel the symbols on the players' dice as normal.

The winner is chosen according to the following rank system:

1st: 2 Success, 2 Advantage (Tukar to Kulro)
2nd: 4 Advantage (Quad Kulro)
3rd: 2 Success (Tukar Tukar)
4th: 2 Advantage (Kulro Kulro)

The entire pot goes to the top-ranked player, and it is split in the case of a tie. If no one achieves one of the four scores listed above, no one wins the pot and the game starts over.

OOC:
In your case (with the Predict spell), you have two potentially winning rolls considering you'll get to re-roll the blanks. So, if you stay with your 2 advantage roll, don't reroll the blank, and the black die comes up a Failure or blank, that's a potentially winning roll.

If you keep the double advantage and reroll the blank, getting 2 more advantage, that's an even better hand. But then the black die may mess with you.

If you keep the single success and reroll the blank when the time comes, you could potentially get 2 successes, another winning hand. (Unless the black negates one of them.)

There's a lot of chance involved!

It might be safest to keep the double advantage, but not if your opponents roll well. So which die roll do you want to keep?

quick questions: Are these agains the previous rolls from te orcs? Getting 3 advantages is the same as nothing?
Jan 8, 2020 2:03 am
OOC:
The Orcs will all roll again. The order is supposed to change each time, but it's feasible one of them would have already rolled by the time Nekurr took his turn. The other will roll after you choose which roll to keep.

"Currently, the Cat-man and Master Thad are tied with two advantage as the high roll. Miss Zulgha? Bet?" asks the Saint.

The Orc woman curses and raises 25 credits.

"Mr. Nekurr?"
OOC:
At this point, you could still win. It will depend on pure luck, of course. Up to you!
Jan 9, 2020 6:56 am
Nekurr looks at both orcs, studying their faces and then back at the saint. "30"
OOC:
Last one to impress the orcs and loose all my money :)
Jan 10, 2020 2:09 am
The male Orc gives Nekurr a stern look, like trying to look through him. He grunts and matches the bet. Zulgha sighs and does so, as well. The pot now stands at 165 silver.
Jan 10, 2020 2:11 am
"Roll one of your two dice if you please, Lady and Gentlemen," says the Saint. Zulgha retries her second die, which currently shows 1 Advantage.

When it comes up blank, she slams the table with a fist and fixes her gaze on the Half-Catfolk. "Hope you do better so you can buy me another drink!"
OOC:
At this point, just designate which of your two dice (1 or 2) you are re-rerolling, and roll 1 blue.
