Ovesk turns back the way they came, peering over the wall. "You never know what may come up behind. We best not be flanked. I'll keep an eye to our rear."
Nov 26, 2021 5:48 pm
OOC:
Amon will take back row with Ovesk, crossbow at the ready.
Nov 27, 2021 1:21 am
OOC:
Yes, Leon, this is familiar to you. This is where you came down from above, previously.
Nov 27, 2021 2:38 pm
West is best? very catchy. I like it! Trithereon will Guide you Ovesk as you keep watch.
Vita pats Ovesk on the shoulder and casts Guidance
Nov 28, 2021 1:40 pm
"Good, good..." the elf hummed as he made annotations on the party map. "We can now leave without having to deal with that gluttonous aberration," he stated, after Leothorn confirmed this was the area he had previously explored. "Westwards then..."
Nov 28, 2021 3:38 pm
Cormac moves forward, at the front of the party with Leo, scanning ahead for any sign of danger.

This cavern is roughly 30 feet wide and approximately 60 feet long. In the southern end of this cavern is a solitary stone figure, roughly sculpted from the same black stone of the cavern walls and firmly anchored to the floor. The figure, obviously a human male--although lacking any finished detail--stands some 5 feet high, with both arms slightly outstretched, pointing to the jagged rock outcropping which divides the two corridors to the north-northeast. The statue is covered with mud, offal, and dried dung. Around the statue are seven reptilian humanoids wielding clubs and nets, sparring with one another. They look up as you enter and turn to attack, snarling something in a primitive language.
OOC:
The party is up!

Seeing the reptilian figures charging in, Caelymbor let’s loose the readied arrow. He stood his ground, close behind Cormac and Leothorn.
OOC:
Not very good. Are we doing group initiative?

Ovesk takes a glance toward the jagged outcropping intending to keep an eye in that direction. The challenge, though is right in front of them, and Ovesk charges shield-first into the fray, putting his momentum into his first strike with his flail, which whips in a wide arc toward his target.

Amon lifts his flute to his lips and begins to play a spirited tune. The music rises to the ceiling and begins to coalesce materially and fall as shimmering purple rain on their foes.
OOC:
Casts Faerie Fire. All creatures in 20 ft cube make DC 13 Dex save or become marked with purple light. Advantage on attacks against creatures that are marked.
OOC:
probably better if he can get this off before melee fighters charge into the fray... Not sure how that gets decided without initiative rolls...

"Oh... Whoa... What are these creatures?!? I only have 1 spell left. Should I Bless 3 of you or save it for healing?"

In the meantime, you can see Vita pray to Trithereon saying something about the Bells Toll in their head

Leothorn lets a bolt fly from Hole Punch, aiming at either an illuminated or distracted foe. He will retreat backward while he reloads, like he learned in chapter six of his correspondence course "Tactics 101" which was titled "Kiting vs. Fighting: When to Shoot and When To Stab."
OOC:
Going to take aim at one of the creatures that fails their faerie fire save, and if there are none of those then at a creature adjacent to an ally. This way I can get a sneak attack. Will roll with advantage but if there are no faerie fired targets, ignore the second roll.

Rolls

Light crossbow to hit (advantage) - (1d20+5, 1d20+5)

1d20+5 : (18) + 5 = 23

1d20+5 : (12) + 5 = 17

Light crossbow damage (piercing) + sneak attack - (1d8+3, 1d6)

1d8+3 : (7) + 3 = 10

1d6 : (2) = 2

OOC:
Normally I would take it in the order of the posts, but I'll give you guys the benefit of the spell.
Amon lifts his flute to his lips and begins to play a spirited tune. The music rises to the ceiling and begins to coalesce materially and fall as shimmering purple rain on their foes, outlining four of them in a purplish glow, making them more prevalent and easier to target. Caelymbor sends an arrow into one of the figures, causing it to pause. Before it can do anything else, Cormac's blade separates its arm from its body and it drops to the floor, bleeding profusely.

Ovesk takes a glance toward the jagged outcropping intending to keep an eye in that direction. The challenge, though is right in front of them, and Ovesk charges shield-first into the fray, putting his momentum into his first strike with his flail, which whips in a wide arc toward his target. His flail slams home on one of the illuminated creatures, but it is a glancing blow! Before the creature can react, Vita's spell strikes it, causing it to stumble backward. That's when Leo's bolt hits it in the forehead, causing it to pitch forward, dead.

Rua, bringing up the rear, spreads her fingers and stretches out her arms, and a sheaf of flame leaps from her fingertips, engulfing the remainder. Suddenly, a club impacts with Rua's back as two more lizard-looking beings come from the passage behind, where Ovesk had been watching. The three attacking Cormac all miss, but one gets through against Ovesk, causing 5 points of damage.

The air is suddenly filled with a horrible stench, like a combination of methane, sulfur, and decaying flesh. Cormac, Ovesk, and Rua must make Constitution saves (DC 12) or be poisoned.

Ovesk takes a deep breath just as the air fills with this horrible smell, and coughs uncontrollably. "Uff... oh..." *cough* "it's... disgu... " *cough* "disgusting!" . He raises his weapon hand for another attack, but the coughing seizes him mid-swing, disrupting the momentum of the chained weapon.
